What happens when insurance companies get too big.

by Unhappy on Dec 6, 2022

Terrible company, insurance rates keep skyrocketing despite revenue almost doubling in 2021 to $2.1 billion, up $1 billion from $1.1 billion the previous year. Shop elsewhere.

Warning: Don't look at Intact Insurance without shopping around

by Vanjo on Jan 5, 2022
1 out of 5 stars

I have a twin who lives in the same area. We have the same driving record, drive the same (exact) make/model vehicle (though his is 3 years newer). Intact charged me 2 1/2 times what he was paying (I pay yearly, he pays monthly). When I shopped around I found that I was not only paying a lot more for insurance but was also not allotted discounts (Hybrid, snow tires, good driving record, low mileage...). The next highest quote was 1/2 what Intact was charging me. The next was what my brother was paying and the fourth was 1/4 (with the requirement that I install a driving gizmo to monitor driving). Don't go with Intact until you shop around!

Don't go with Novex Insurance

by Ruturaj on Apr 21, 2021
1 out of 5 stars

I just want to suggest every person that never goes for Novex Insurance! Because I had so bad experience, they will give you some amount before the term and when you will start the term they will increase the pay after some months and they will start to make fake expectations to adjust the money but that will never happen and they will just make fool of you. So be careful!

Did you know that on average Ontario drivers with good driving records pay $1,805/year in auto insurance? Is your insurance rate higher? Get a free car insurance quote and start saving today.

Stay away!

This company is a joke. The MyDrive discounts is a scam. They say 20% discount and they only give 1 fourth of it because they calculate it as they wish. !0 years of clean record, zero accidents, zero speed tickets etc and my insurance keeps going up. My car's value is 8k and I am paying half the value of the car annually for this terrible company. I tried to get rid of all comprehensive etc and it only makes 40$ difference which means they are dedicated to screw people. I got many quotes with less than 170$ and I don't have to pay double that for this scam company. Can't wait for august.

Worst Insurance Company!

by Jami-Lyn on Dec 28, 2020

I will never recommend Intact. they are a massive rip-off and will find any way possible to make more money off you when other insurances would lower payments. Their driving app as well is a major joke and made it completely impossible for you to get a good score let alone a decent discount. Plus the app always made up issues with your driving regardless of how you actually drove your car that day. Also dinged you if you answered a hands-free Bluetooth phone call or if your passenger was using your phone. If you want good affordable insurance go to another company! I switched and am now saving $100 a month on insurance and am getting more for what I was paying at Intact. Also, beware of Intact's cancellation fees it is costing me $180 on top of my last monthly payment just to cancel my account with them.

If you have a good driving record in AB, you should pay around $110/month (women - $105/month and men - $113/month). Do you overpay? Get an Alberta car insurance quote to start saving.

This place is a joke

My broker gave me less than 24 hours notice that my policy was being cancelled... In the middle of a pandemic... Now I'm paying $100 less at a better company than what I've been paying for 15 years with your company..... Because I was loyal..... But you weren't loyal to me during this pandemic..... Good riddance......my life is better now

Raises rates during pandemic

by APitt on Apr 10, 2020

So vehicle insurance is up for its yearly renewal during a pandemic. We were not driving anyways and didn't expect a decrease in premiums. So when we got the renewal to our shock, they increased premiums by 46 percent. I called the customer service to find out why the increase, since no accidents, violations and been with them for years. The representative was rude and gave a lame excuse about them raising rates due to the number of claims they received from everyone this past year. The representative also tried to state will not find new insurance or one that will take monthly payments right now. Hung up and called my broker. Advised broker they needed to find new coverage. The broker stated the same items the representative advised over the phone. I outright ask her if she gets a higher commission from Intact and how much of the brokerage firm that is under does Intact own. She tried to talk around it. I stated that much. I knew from past experience if a broker makes more from a company they will only push that companies product. I advised her to watch me. In twenty-five minutes new broker, new insurances cheaper rates than have been paying this previous year, monthly payments and more coverage. Stop using Intact and their brokers, especially when the firm is owned at a 50 percent share by Intact. It is about their bottom line. Not about their customers.
