First, I just wanted to call them and try to correct the payment that they mistakenly withdraw from my Moms account. I don't understand why I set up the account with them and they mistakenly deduct the money from my Moms account. Secondly, I waited for more than 3 hours to call them. I do not understand why on this planet there is such company working in this bad way, seems like we are no choice. Sincerely hope there will be a new company to replace them ASAP.
I've had my house and auto insurance with them for 25 years maybe more. In all that time I've had one auto claim some 11 years ago and no home claims. I was not at fault but my car was totalled. The claim was settled satisfactorily with speed and politeness. Nor did my rates go up beyond the usual creepage. A recent matter, not even involving a claim, has made me decide to leave this company. I had to purchase a car out of the province of my residence when my old one was beyond reasonable repair costs. First, they told me the maritime branch could still insure me but with a 60 % premium. I was willing to pay because it would only be for a few months. Then they came back and said they could not insure me and that I would have to be insured by their Ontario branch. That auto insurance was 85% more than I had been paying. Because they do not consider the Ontario and Maritme branches the same company and my home was insured with the Maritime branch my house insurance also went up 18%. I was not pleased but again considered it a temporary matter until I had my plates changed back in several months. I decided I would change insurance companies if they did not return me to close to the previous status quo to both house and auto. I asked them to send the policies to a temporary mailing address for me to review. But they got the address wrong. So I had to phone them to correct that and make sure future mailings went to my home address. Tried a couple of times but I could not wait more than 15 minutes to get a person. Then one day I got to a person within minutes... By not listening, just like the individual who did not get the address right, she turned what should have been a simple matter into something very complicated. She kept cutting me off and would not let me speak my mind. She had the gall to threaten to hang up if I did not calm down when she was the one escalating matters. I should have said, "You know what? It doesn't matter. I'll be changing insurance companies in the next few months," and then hung up. They'll be losing a good client. Never any problems with payment and only one claim in 25 years. She was the straw in a series of events. I do not want to be insured by a company that employs someone like her. She's a bully with psychological issues; the need to be right and a lack of genuine empathy. (I have a Ph.D. in psychology and worked in a psychiatric facility). They also lost my father a few years back. He never made any claims. But they were making mistakes with billing and he got tired of calling them up after they kept making the same mistakes over and over again.
Did you know that on average Ontario drivers with good driving records pay $1,805/year in auto insurance? Is your insurance rate higher? Get a free car insurance quote and start saving today.
I had been with Liberty Mutual for years before they left Alberta and sold to TD Insurance. For the first few years, TD was decent in their service and rates. However, service, wait times, and insurance premiums have become unrealistic. While we have a newer driver in the family, the rest of us have zero accidents, hold professional driver's licenses, and no penalties. While we hoped that after dealing with this "company" for almost 35 years, we hoped the poor customer service and long wait times we started to experience within the second year was just a phase. We were prepared for the additional cost of adding a new driver still on her GDL, our insurance premiums continued to climb despite multi-vehicle and no claims. After being with "this" company for 35 years, we decided to explore other insurance companies, and after finding one that insured us for the 3 we currently have with TD, added a fourth vehicle and still walked away saving $150/year. When trying to cancel the insurance, had to wait on hold for 1h10min, and they still wouldn't cancel the insurance without talking to my husband?! We've been on the same policy for 25 years! Then to top the delight in dealing with them off, after paying our premium for May of $460, three days later, they are graciously giving me $54 back... So, after this many years, I am so truly sad at what use to be a decent, competitive company that recognized long term clients and was easy to deal with, become another money-grabbing, do whatever they can to make it difficult for their clients to deal with them. Save your money and time and take it from a former VERY loyal client, there ARE many other fantastic options out there.
First of all...stay far away from this company! We had a small accident a few weeks ago that caused minor surface damage to the rear of our vehicle. We got our own repair estimate for $2500. We took it to their guys so that we could file our claim. We waited over THREE WEEKS for them to get back to us after numerous follow-ups, only to find out work hadn't even started on our vehicle. The repair shop blamed the insurance company for not sending paperwork, and TD Meloche blamed the repair shop for being backed-up with work. We, finally, escalated it to a manager. Got a call back the next day to tell us that the vehicle was considered a write-off. We're still waiting to find out our settlement offer, apparently, there is no one we can speak to on it, and we just have to keep waiting for some indefinite time. We bought our vehicle just three years ago for $11K. And they're writing it off for approx. $3k of damage? Why even have insurance if they can just choose to write it off for whatever they want and not repair it when you file a claim. This has been a complete nightmare I wouldn't wish to anyone. Oh...and we had no rental vehicle coverage on our policy, so all this time have been down a vehicle which I understand was our choice not to take it. But you also don't expect an insurance company to take three weeks just to START processing your claim. I tried to ask for a rental vehicle at this point but of course, the answer was no.
Never use them. I called in regards to my upcoming renewal and was told it was not processed yet. I was also told my payment date would be pushed back to reflect their late release of my paperwork. 2 and a half weeks later I received my paperwork, informing me the payment date was the same. I called in to see about pushing it back and was informed it was locked in THE DAY I CALLED to inquire about my payment. I was unable to secure the payment on the scheduled date but cancelled my policy due to their poor customer service anyway. They admitted their fault and offered reimbursement for the NSF fees. I was promised it would be deposited the following Monday. Monday came, no deposit. I called back and was informed that they had actually mailed cheques out. Nearly 2 weeks later, I'm still waiting. I call today to be told it would be a 2 to 3 week process to cancel the cheques and deposit the money directly. They also owe me $180 from my policy cancellation, but I'm not holding my breath on that.
If you have a good driving record in AB, you should pay around $110/month (women - $105/month and men - $113/month). Do you overpay? Get an Alberta car insurance quote to start saving.
1. When I replied to the email that I got the Insurance confirmation from asking to change something, I never got any reply! The confirmation was only a table including the basic information only in their own terminology and did not have any clarification of anything in detail on top of that it had wrong information about the lessee! 2. When I later called and asked to send me a copy of the terms and conditions or the contract that I am signing in order to commit financially, I was told that the system doesn’t do that and that I have to accept everything we talked about verbally and I should not see what is excluded in the contract and on top of that if I cancel, mid-term or even when the mail comes to see the contract, I will be paying one month cancellation fee and the agents didn’t care about anything and he said he’ll be happy helping me cancel right now before the policy starts. I have asked for a manager and the manager just simply repeated what he said and then told me this is the rule here, it’s only a verbal quotation, this is how things work in this company! This is neither ethical nor professional. I am very disappointed with a big company like this behaving in such a bad scammy way!!
TD insurance is the biggest liar in Toronto. Stay away from them if possible. They can constantly increase your quote and charge extra when activating/setting up your account. I have to stuck with them for a year, and won't stay with them afterward. PLEASE PAY ATTENTION TO YOUR BILL , ESPECIALLY FOR NEW CUSTOMERS USING TD ADVANTAGE APP. THEY WILL CHARGE EXTRA AND STEAL YOUR MONEY. We just relocated to Toronto a month ago, and shopped around for auto insurance. It seemed that TD insurance can provide us the reasonable rate so far since we had been staying with TD insurance for a few years outside Ontario and have a clean driving record. So we asked them to send a hard copy of the quote. When the mail arrived, the quote was around $150 higher than the one we quoted on the phone. So I called back, one of the agents told me that her co-worker made a mistake on our previous quote (lower rate). Excuse me! I said I thought your guys are professionals and asked to talk with her supervisor. The agent asked me to hold on, it turned out that she hanged out my phone. She was so rude that I tried to complain about what happened to me with their supervisor's phone line on their website. Nobody answered my phone and asked to leave a voice message. I did, there was no response from them since it has been almost a month. I kept shopping around because of TD insurance unreliability, their quote (the higher one) was still the reasonable one we can get, because we can get some group discount. For the sake of money, I went back and called them to activate our account early in the morning. Since unpleasant experience on quote, I double checked our premium, coverage (including download TD advantage App for 5% discount) before activating. So I preferred the payment by credit card, which is the only option for full payment. And I asked the agent repeated how much he will charge on credit card. The amount of payment was the exact number as the higher rate. So I gave him my husband's credit card information. It's done. And I asked him to send a temporary insurance file to us. Due to the post office being on strike, we need to get our car registration and switch licence plate in a week. I still didn't trust them, when my husband got off from work and called them in the evening to check how much they charge from credit card. Okay, it's the same amount as the quote. To our surprise, I got the official document of Auto insurance this afternoon, they charged us more than $100. So I was so confused that I called them to ask what is going on. It took a while for an agent to figure out the problem. They didn't give us a 5% discount when we downloaded TD advantage App. Jesus Christ! We agreed with using this App. They even sent us an email and asked us to download App with PIN. What's wrong with these people? If you don't provide us the discount, why did you ask us to download the App? They thought we didn't know the amount they charged extra. Unfortunately, I kept every record from them, it can be traceable. I read so many bad reviews about this App, I gave up on this App. I don't want to install it or have any issue with them. So be it.
Their initial response to a claim is helpful and efficient. They will pay invoices from their business partners, such as body shops, quickly and without question, even when, as in one case, the invoice was fraudulent. Their handling of repair claims is satisfactory as far as the policyholder is concerned. The picture changes when they have to make a payment to the policyholder, and it can take months of haggling and even legal threats to reach an acceptable settlement. They drag out their responses, presumably with the intention of wearing down the policyholder, and their staff give the impression that they there to defend the company rather than help the client. Their process for assessing the replacement value of a stolen or totalled car is bizarre. It would be irresponsible to recommend them to anyone.
They treat you well up front. Do not believe it. We don't mind paying higher premiums believing perhaps the company can be trusted. Wrong! When it comes to claims Beware! Do not allow them to just repair without knowing what the cost will be within reason. They will screw you out of a new vehicle though you have paid for the 5 year replacement insurance. Do Not Trust them!!!!

I’ll start off with what seems to be the common trend, and that is the wait times are extremely long. I’ve been waiting for 2 hours and 20 minutes so far, but typically I’ve waited for an hour. So this is a record. Is there anyone working? They need to hire more people if everyone is really busy. And like others have said, they should tell you what number you are in the queue and call you back when it’s your turn like phone companies do. However, the real reason why I am posting this is because of the unprofessional customer service I have had with the adjusters for my claim. I was in a car accident earlier this year. My adjuster called me and left me a voicemail at 1 pm while I was at work (they have a record of your profession by the way so why would she call me during the way when I’m working?). I tried calling her back and left several voicemails and tried calling the claims department to which said “she’s been trying to get a hold of you. She called you on Monday.” She called me Once. I kept calling for 3 Weeks and when I tried emailing her to ask what’s the current status of my claim, she said “I don’t have info on your policy. You have to contact customer service.” That was completely irrelevant! I was even referred to her supervisor, who was just as impossible to get a hold of. Fortunately, after many calls, during the fourth week after my accident, I got through to a girl in the claims department who was so much help and filed my paperwork, who, by the way, was talking to me from Nova Scotia while I was in Ontario. Towards the end of my claim, my first adjuster finally emailed me to send her my documents, after 4 weeks. Sadly, just as I thought the nightmare was over, something else came up. I had used a rental car after my accident for one month since my car was a write-off and it was included in my insurance policy. I returned the car after and thought everything was fine. Last month, I got a notification that over $1400 has been withdrawn from my Visa. It was taken from the car rental company. I immediately called them after work and get through to a lady in accounting service. She tells me that she had been trying to get a hold of my adjuster from the insurance company and her manager because They Did Not pay the Rental Car... She emailed them saying that if they didn’t pay, she was going to have to take it out from My account and I’d have to deal with the issue. My accident was in January, and I had the accident until the end of February, so for 4 Months, TD Meloche did not pay the rental car company, and now I have to deal with it and wait on the phone to get a money transfer. And by the way, I’m still waiting for my licence plate to get released from the car dump (I did not get to remove it). This is another issue that I get to deal with. I’ve been waiting for 3 hours now since I started writing this review. The only reason I’m still with TD Meloche is because of their low rates and their insurance packages.
