I tried to cancel my insurance. It became a 3-week process resulting in additional withdrawals from my account including a penalty. Very disappointing and frustrating. I would NOT recommend them to anyone. Stick with the smaller companies where you get more personal service.
They are the worst I have been trying to cancel my car insurance over two years. They don't communicate via email so I have have to take time of work to wait hours to try and get someone on the phone who has authorization. Then when I speak to a number of people they tell me oh they are missing this form or that signature. Seriously they should not be allowed to sell insurance or work with the public. I am so angry and feel so mistreated by this company... THE WORST !!!
If you have a good driving record in AB, you should pay around $110/month (women - $105/month and men - $113/month). Do you overpay? Get an Alberta car insurance quote to start saving.
-Sky high premiums. Search around, everyone you call will have better pricing
-horrible cancellation policies, very unforgiving
enough said.
After moving from Alberta to Ontario, I had a horrible experience trying to update my policy. The phone call took an hour, the rep couldn't give me an accurate quote (he gave me a quote that was $100/month above other Ontario quotes). I get that the amount can be different from company to company, but $100 difference just doesn't seem accurate.
After finding another insurance company,I decided to cancel my policy since the rep couldn't look at my quote and logically think through the problems and realise that maybe he had input some information into the system incorrectly.
When I called to cancel, I advised that I was cancelling because I couldn't get an accurate quote and the customer service was so poor. They refused to waive the cancellation fee. The company clearly does not stand behind their service.I asked to speak to a supervisor after being sent to loyalty and I was told that the customer service rep was his own manager.
I went on the website to see what the company mission and values were - "Our Promise: Exception Customer Service, Superior Value" which speak directly to the two issues I was having and the exact reasons I was cancelling but apparently those reasons, the Promise the company gives to all customers, wasn't a good enough to warrant waiving the cancellation fee (which is optional as per industry standards).
As insurance companies work mostly over he phone, the lack of transparency, follow up, communications and integrity is sorely lacking at Meloche Monnex. I was a customer for over two years and paid $120 monthly, I was told that I had the comprehensive coverage yet this month for He first time I called about two small items, my windshield that has stone chips from the highway and a scratch from someone vandalizing my car by keying the side of the body. After numerous transfers, voicemails, promises of managers calling back and wrong as well as conflicting information being provided every time I call- I decided to cancel my insurance policy with TD. They do not care about the customer at all. They did not acknowledge their error whatsoever. They stuck to the script and each person would repeat that I was sent insurance policy by mail and henceforth it was my fault all along. It doesn't matter to them that they have made a mistake and that they should at the very least apologize and try to retain the customer. They have completely alienated and upset me because they are thieves. TD should be sued for their business practices.
Did you know that on average Ontario drivers with good driving records pay $1,805/year in auto insurance? Is your insurance rate higher? Get a free car insurance quote and start saving today.
Worst company ever to have an auto insurance with. Hidden charges that they add up at the time of the cancellation that they have a hard time explaining !!! I paid my fees in advance and they are charging me 120 dollars as a cancellation fee and 108 dollars as a short-term notice fee? (and this is after giving one month of notice ) comparatively expensive rate. Warning: bad idea to go with them
My ex-wife and I shared a Home-Auto Insurance. So when we separated and changed our addresses I called and they told me I had to cancel my policy, and that my wife had to call to approve it. She did but they just cancelled the auto portion of my insurance. They didn't cancel the home insurance and of course they continued charging me for it.
They never mentioned that I was subject to cancellation fees and the last operator I chat with told me that I would be penalized with a small portion because of cancellation fees. That small portion represents a 70% of my monthly payment. How in the world a 70% is a small portion???
Moreover, they will refund an extra payment they charged me in 2-3 business weeks? So they screwed me up in every way they could.
Stay away from this robbers!!!!
They were good at first and then I was cancelled because I missed a payment by 1 hour.... 1 HOUR!!
They just want money and apparently they have so many customers in line they dont need your money.
I could understand if I didnt pay my insurance but i did and then for them to cancel me because I was a little late? and have no way of making it up to them... garbage.... don't waste your time with these guys. the Government should step in and put a stop to this monopoly that we have to go through just to want to have insurance.
See all the NEGATIVE reviews??
That is there for a reason, go somewhere else.
TD sent my renewal and then subsequent cancellation notice to an incorrect address after I moved. They had missed a digit when I called to let them know about the change of address. I didn't notice the payment hadn't come out of my account until they phoned 3.5 months later to check my address and tell me they had cancelled the policy a month ago. Not allowed to pay and renew without a 30-day application process and increased rate. Also tagged with Non-payment on my record. All of this could have been avoided with a phone call.
TD insists on only using mail for communication, no matter the circumstance. They refuse to contact anyone for any reason using any form of communication other than mail. I had an issue with my mailing address and they sent about 12 letters, informing me that they were going to cancel my insurance due to a payment issue. Eventually, they cancelled it, without informing me by any method other than by mail (note that they had my email and phone number on file). I never received any of these notifications and was driving with invalid insurance for about 4 months because of this. Then, because I had an amount owing, they got their collection agency to contact me. They were able to contact me immediately, of course, since they tried any method other than mail. This is the only reason I found out my insurance had been cancelled. I paid them immediately. I have never had any issue with payment for any service in my life, except for with TD. If they had contacted me by phone or email, I would have been able to clear things up right away and would have taken measures to ensure this would never happen in the future. I tried to reinstate my insurance with them, but they would not grant me home insurance due to my previous non-payment, even though I had paid everything I owed in full. I went with another company, but they would not insure me until they had confirmation from TD that my account had been settled. So I went through the horribly long wait to speak with someone by phone, and after being put on hold multiple times, I was told they would send me confirmation the next day. I assumed this meant they would email it to me. However, when I checked with them two days later, it turned out they were mailing it to me. I spent about an hour trying to convince them to scan the document and email it to me or to just send me the original saved document, but of course, they refused. I cannot for the life of me understand what they have against alternate forms of communication. Why do they insist on doing everything with the oldest, slowest, most unreliable, and most expensive form of communication? To make a long story short, this company has the worst customer service of any company I have ever experienced, and will never contact you except by mail.
