Adjuster not reachable

by TD insurance customer on Oct 19, 2016
2 out of 5 stars

I was told to contact the adjuster and no matter when I call I get the voice message and it is two days that I have not heard from TD Insurance adjuster Dolores C.

It is too frustrating after an accident that you need some advice and assistance from your insurance company who sucking your money each month to be unreachable and irresponsive.

Not a great experience...

I have had one of the worst customer service experiences I have ever encountered while trying to do a simple hail claim with TD. I was parked at the Calgary airport over the Aug long weekend, and while I was away, we got a hail storm. When I returned to find my poor car dinged up from hail, I called to make a claim (the first time I've ever done so in my life).

I didn't hear anything back for the first couple of weeks, so I called them back and got a name of my adjuster. I called AND emailed this person. Still didn't hear back, so I called the claims line again only to be told they had changed my adviser to someone else. I called and emailed this person, and after another week I did hear back, and was scheduled in for an assessment on Sept 9 (everyone else I knew with hail damage had their cars fixed, or pay-outs made before I even got to speak with someone!).

The estimate place said someone from TD would be in touch in the next few days to go over the estimate and claim with me. Another week went by and I hadn't heard anything, so I called and emailed the adjuster who had made the appointment. When again I didn't hear back, I had decided that I wanted to speak with a manager. I called the claims line, and they told me that AGAIN I had been re-assigned to a different adjuster (that's 3 now if you're counting).

I said I wanted to talk to a manager. They are not in the same building as the adjusters, so the person on the phone didn't think they could help, but I asked them to transfer me to the receptionist at the correct office and I would ask them to physically go find someone that would actually talk to me and tell me what was going on. I finally got a manager, Moe, who apologized, and offered to take over my case and get it sorted out.

While I was on the phone with him, this 3rd adjuster person called me (we are now well over a month since I made the claim, and that was the FIRST call I received from anyone at TD). Moe was moderately helpful and at least gave me some information on how to move forward. I then emailed him today to follow up on my decisions for the claim (this time the delay was on me as I wanted to research and ensure I was making the best decision), and soon after received a phone call from someone else who said Moe had asked to take over my account (person #5 now).

I HATE to think what this would have been like if I had been in a serious accident and not just hail damage. I really hope someone from TD actually reads this and does something about the horrible service that I have to assume other people are also receiving. I have been a TD customer of some sort since I was 10 years old, and am truly shocked and appalled at how bad this experience of submitting a simple hail claim has been. I am a manager for a company that promotes good customer service, and if any of our customers went through what I have been going through this past couple of months, there would be a lot of people looking for new jobs...

On the positive side, as I don't like to write negative reviews, the people on the customer service side who take your money, are quite helpful and lovely to deal with... go figure.

Incompetent customer service

My ex-wife and I shared a Home-Auto Insurance. So when we separated and changed our addresses I called and they told me I had to cancel my policy, and that my wife had to call to approve it. She did but they just cancelled the auto portion of my insurance. They didn't cancel the home insurance and of course they continued charging me for it.

They never mentioned that I was subject to cancellation fees and the last operator I chat with told me that I would be penalized with a small portion because of cancellation fees. That small portion represents a 70% of my monthly payment. How in the world a 70% is a small portion???

Moreover, they will refund an extra payment they charged me in 2-3 business weeks? So they screwed me up in every way they could.

Stay away from this robbers!!!!

Ripped off for 9 years!

A 4-cylinder car being intentionally rated as a 6-cylinder car. Letters with ownership sent to their office were never responded. Agents were either playing dumb or giving me run-around for the past 9 years. Request for refund of overcharged premium was also ignored. I urge all existing clients to compare quotes with other insurance companies. You will find a better deal somewhere else!

Meloche Monnex is a great insurance provider, until you have a problem. Their customer service is incredibly weak and clearly does not value continued business with their customers. Shayne was the manager I dealt with from customer support and was not only completely unwilling to work with me to resolve a simple issue, but was quite rude in dealing with me.

It's a shame that Meloche Monnex does not have customer service agents who understand the value of continued business and only care to argue about why their policies do not allow them to keep their customers happy.

If you have a good driving record in AB, you should pay around $110/month (women - $105/month and men - $113/month). Do you overpay? Get an Alberta car insurance quote to start saving.

Rates Kept Going up

I had been with TD since 2001 (so over 12 years).
At first my auto rates were very reasonable.
But noticed that my rates have been going up for the last few years.
I'm in my late 30's, have home insurance with them, have had a clean record for over 9 years (my only accident was in 2004 and was a both at fault accident, but has since been wiped off my record). I don't drive anything fancy or racy. Yet this year's renewal went up over 15%. When I called, the customer rep had no answer, only to say, it might be the car you drive.
So I have since left, as I used a insurance broker who found me another company 45% less!
I have since moved both my home and auto insurance over.

Long Term Customers Beware !

by PonyCar on Sep 7, 2013

Long term customer with Meloche (over 10 Year). My wife and I are both over 50, no at fault accidents in over 30 years of driving and both have clean records. We have two cars and our home insured with TD. Rates were reasonable but over the past few years have noticed rates creaping up even though we have never made claims. We have been in the same home for 30+ years with no claimes and our insurance went up 25%. I complained and they knocked it down by 10%. I sold one of my cars as we no longer need it and they raised the insurance cost of my single car by 32%. I have called 4 other insurance companies to get quotes and rates are 40% lower with the same coverage. I will be cancelling my car insurance and will shop around for my home insurance.
