Had a 5,000 claim in 2015, in 2017 Aviva partnered with RBC as the underwriter and then they cancelled my insurance 1 month before my renewal!!! RBC said AVIVA sent me a re-application via snail mail (which I never received). Because I didn't "reapply within 2 weeks, they sent a "registered" letter informing me my policy is cancelled and they no longer want me as a customer. AFTER 15 years of being a customer, never missing a payment! No changes in my vehicles or driver rating. (They actually said they would NOT cancel my House insurance! LOL). BEWARE, Aviva now RUNS RBC insurance and the complaints line I called said they are targeting longtime customers and snuffing them out as most have a declining deductible clause (my $500 deductible was at $0 because of my 15 years of "Loyalty"), haha. They ACTUALLY said I qualify for the exact same coverage after the RBC agent issued me a quote and I would have NO lapse in coverage, HOWEVER, there would be $150 rate hike and I would lose all accrued loyalty benefits such as my declining deductible, which was at $0, so re-set to $500. RBC's bait and switch predatory practices are despicable, I don't believe they ever mailed me any re-application/renewal forms and obviously by not emailing me or calling me to notify me about pending policy cancelation (they had my email and home phone number on file for years) they obviously targeted me and are looking to get rid of long-term customers. The RBC insurance Rep apologized for AVIVA's unscrupulous corporate tactics as this is new to RBC, she sounded embarrassed after admitting she is getting multiple calls from longtime customers with similar complaints. Note RBC does not target new customers, within the last 2 years, rather longtime loyal customers they want to get rid of. Good luck RBC, I'm lodging a complaint with the Ontario Insurance Ombudsman and notifying my Union, my workplace as well as my friends and family to steer clear of RBC! AVOID the renewal cancellation hassle by RBC auto insurance.
Hello, I had very bad experience with RBC claim from 26 June 2018 and still going on and I am still waiting for my refund but they are not answering as well as no one wants to take responsibility even not my adjuster. I called as well as emailed every day and asked to talk with supervisor or manager but they always refused me and told me that they can not pass to supervisor...as well as they are not resolving my issues...this kind of worst service I am getting from RBC... Now RBC enforce me to change my insurance company...
Wait time is insane - 2HRS. They put you on hold to check and calls get disconnected
Very untrustworthy company. They do not care about you as a customer. ALWAYS PLUS 2 hours wait to get a hold of someone. Tried to suspend my vehicle for 2 months because I was injured, they did not suspend and I was forced to make payments for that time, so it does not get sent to collections. TRUST ME AND DO NOT GET YOURSELF SIGNED UP WITH SUCH A COMPANY.
Very long wait times on the phone. They have a callback feature but you are waiting up to 2 hours for a callback. Different answers to questions from different people. Very confusing and frustrating. Better to spend the extra few dollars and deal with a broker than have to deal with this nonsense!!! Stay away is all I can say!!
Did you know that on average Ontario drivers with good driving records pay $1,805/year in auto insurance? Is your insurance rate higher? Get a free car insurance quote and start saving today.
Two days in a row I get disconnected from RBC Insurance toll-free line. Each day I waited over 2 hours. Still can't drive my new (used) autohome because I can't even get it insured because I'm still trying to add it, I'm on hold so I have time to write/vent the second Issue: Home Insurance with RBC, I had hail damage on my roof July 6, 2018. My shingles are damaged & today August 21, 2018, I'm still waiting for the adjuster/contractor to write his report to send to RBC. The adjuster they used from Home Depot was rude & could not call me as he was asked to do so I could attend his assessment. I'm still not sure if he did really make it to view my claim 2 months LATER!!! Disappointed all around, I may have water damage as my shingles now need full replacement & I don't know how to move forward because we have been waiting almost 2 months for an answer. Worse service I've had, ever. Auto & Home insurance with RBC is not worth the possible minor saving because they have the worst service. Go elsewhere, trust me
I echo other comments. Terrible customer service. Spent hours on hold or waiting for a callback. I have been a customer for over 10 years. I switched companies due to customer service.
I have been on the phone for more than 1 hour to add a new auto purchase to my already existing policy. Terrible service...
As the subject states, I waited for over an hour to get a hold of someone. After finally getting a hold and talking to someone, he said: I will put you on hold while I review some stuff. After 15 mins of being on hold, the person hangs up and I call back only to hear the wait time is now an hour and a half. I am extremely unhappy with this waste of time trying to get a simple answer for things.

This company is the most greedy, ridiculous, and disgusting insurance provider ever! I moved out of Canada and needed to cancel my auto policy. They won't refund me the full extra month I already paid, "because I cancel before the expiration date". How can I keep the insurance policy if I moved out of Canada??? Even after I provided my insurance proof in the U.S., they still refuse to refund me the extra month. Shameless greed
