I had an accident in June 2022. It was a brand new vehicle. Just 15 days old. Other driver's fault. TD Insurance settled with an amount much lower than the market rate. Adjustor doesn't receive a call and no response over email. Frequent customer service calls and no positive outcome. I will never recommend having a TD insurance policy to anyone. It is better to pay something extra to get better service rather than dealing with unprofessional elements.
This company is so bad. I got into a car accident and I thought that was bad, but I had another thing coming.
1st of all, when you call TD, they have the WORST automatic system in the world. I got so frustrated... Then, don't expect to get a call back from an adjuster. My adjusters were changed more than 6 times, and I never got a callback. There is 0 CUSTOMER service and all these people do is transfer you from one department to another until someone actually just hangs up the call and you have to call back and go through this automated system again...
I will be cancelling with them at the end of my contract. What a joke!
Did you know that on average Ontario drivers with good driving records pay $1,805/year in auto insurance? Is your insurance rate higher? Get a free car insurance quote and start saving today.
They are not reliable nor responsible. Don't expect any respect. They don't answer their phone and emails. They don't care about customers at all. When you need their support after paying lots of money monthly, they just leave you alone. They switched many adjusters for one claim. Adjusters don’t have enough knowledge & respect.
Went with TD because I got discounted rates from being alumni.
When I tried to renew my insurance, all my accounts were closed due to a late payment. This meant that I couldn't even view the invoice to pay them.
Their phone service is pretty good when you catch them within their working hours though.
I've been with TD a few years now and started out pretty reasonable but five years in I am paying more than I ever thought. So this week looking for boat insurance! They won't cover boats older than 15 years and over 26 ft. Which forces me to switch companies if I want coverage. I'd call this anything but full service.
Had a truck stolen in early March, then was found so was ready to go through the claims process but my first adjuster just would never answer my calls or emails as I was trying to be proactive on things. Got given a new adjuster and the same thing just doesn’t do anything for me. It is now almost August. That is over 4 months and my vehicle is still sitting around. The body shop waits for the adjuster's word to do things to it to get it back in my hands but no response. So frustrating. Trying to move forward after an awful thing happens to me but absolutely no help.

I guess someone who doesn't have a smartphone is discriminated.
I switched phones and forgot to install TD app, which gave me a $660.00 increase. Wow, way to go TD!
If you have a good driving record in AB, you should pay around $110/month (women - $105/month and men - $113/month). Do you overpay? Get an Alberta car insurance quote to start saving.
Spend minutes talking to AI/robot to be transferred to an adviser. Super annoying. And because they wanted to make money. They included a sketchy fee to push you to pull the full amount rather than incremental monthly amounts.
I recently had my car stolen. The experience of dealing with this insurance company was actually worse than the ordeal of dealing with the stolen car. They treated me as if I had stolen my own car; told me that they’re doing their own investigation, despite the Police doing the same, and tried to coerce me to sign a waiver saying I acknowledge that I “may not be covered”, and that they will not cover the cost of the rental car or other expenses until their investigation is over, which would take several weeks.
Even after the car was recovered by the Police, they did not authorize the car rental until I called them several times.
The advisor was very difficult to reach, and would not answer her emails or phone messages.
I’ve experienced a consistent decline in this company’s customer care, which is very unfortunate. They used to be much better when I first started off with them.
After over 25 years of paying into this company, I will be moving to a different insurance company, even if I have to pay double.
