Bad experience

I will never recommend this insurance company to anyone.
Bad customer service and generally very poor services compared the value you're paying !
Also when I wanted to cancel my contract with them, they were very rude and kept transferring my call from one person to the other. Eventually they ripped off an extra 350 dollars in addition to the cancellation fee. Unbelievable!

Desjardins = Worst Insurance

Desjardins Insurance is the worst insurance company, They are VERY Rude and they also try to invade your privacy to the address where others have their licences, i was removed from this terrible insurance company because a family member told them to go **** them selves, now they take it out on another member on the same address.... Biggest Scam Insurance Company Around... I Highly do not recommend you choose this company at all, even a 10 year-old is more respectful than these people at the office

WORST CLAIM SERVICE EVER

I had my car stolen December 5th. I have left several messages for my adjuster and then his supervisor. To date not one return call from either the adjuster or the supervisor. I have called again today and was advised to escalate the matter to another department and should receive a call-back within 24 hours. Thank god we do not have our home insurance with them.

I did everything they ask right the way. Then its all about waiting!!!!!!!!!!!! I didnt get any phone call from them, and i tried to call my adjuster, it was voice mail all the time, and they never call back! Until Nov 25,2014, Im still waiting…

I called them for auto insurance. After 10 calls , 3 voice mails and requests to speak to a manager i got nowhere. Very very poor service, everytime I called they raised the quote........the system is totally confusing where associates dont even know whether they are taking "personal insurance" (sister company) related calls or desjardin related. Wasted my 4-5 hrs. WOULD NEVER GO BACK TO THEM OR RECOMMEND THEM TO ANY FRIEND OR FAMILY

Worst Insurance Ever

I wish i saw the reviews for this company before insuring my car with them. I have only been insured for 3 months and within 3 months they have already screwed up payments and even cancelled my policy for no apparent reason. Ive gotten pulled over too but luckily that officer did not ask for insurance because how much trouble would i have gotten into if i was not covered. Ive brought this to the attention to someone from Dejardins and their excuse was, oh yes, even if it was cancelled you would still be insured.

They charged me fees on 3 occasions that were their fault and they are only willing to "WAIVE" back one fee. How is it considered a waive when you are really just fixing the mistake that YOU made. Waiving would be that theres a fee that was made in MY mistake and you are kind enough to waive it off as a one time thing.

Now my credit score is getting lower and lower because I requested an account change because I provided an empty account and they keep taking money out of this account after STATING THERE IS NO MONEY TO TAKE

>Been with these guys for 11 years(since I was a new driver/teen). At the time they were known as Certas Direct, they were bought out by Desjardins.
>At first I was getting a great rate when they were Certas. I think I was paying 150$/mth. and it even got as low as 110$/mth. when I switched vehicles.
>When I noticed things were getting weird was when Desjardins randomly sent me an insurance/ownership holder in the mail with a letter saying 'blah blah we own certas, you are our valued customer blah blah'. Not too long after i got my very first speeding ticket, and then one more later that year. When my policy was renewed my rate went from 110$/mth to 200$/mth. While I take full responsibility for my tickets, i dont think i should be paying 90$ extra every month for two measly tickets.
>years later i acquired another ticket. it skyrocketed to 275$/mth. Now I am in full panic mode. I called them and said 'listen guys, yes i sped. i get that. but 275$/mth is ridiculous. i am on the brink of selling my car and opting to just use public trans/bike.' they said 'no no no, we will lower it to 250$ a month in 3 months time.' i agreed.
>RECENTLY i got into an accident. it was the other drivers fault but there was no witnesses and the other driver lied on his police report. Because we had 'conflicting stories' the two insurance companies decided to make this a 50/50 split. I was assigned a moron of a service rep. She doesn't care nor take into account anything i say. what she says is what she says. To her there is no other option. its desjardins(gods) word. Get this...I put my car into a shop on a thursday, my agent said she'd call me later that night to talk about it. no call. next day, no call. i call her. voicemail. weekend goes by. no call. i call her, leave new voicemail, she calls me back. tells me three things 'just waiting for the quote from the mechanic and i will call you back. tuesday comes. no call. weds. no call. thurs no call. i call in. voicemail again. call mechanic shop and say 'what the hell is going on with my car?' apparntly they took it apart on tuesday and assessed everything and been waiting for my agent to call. i get angry and call my agent. voicemail. 'yea, my car has been in the shop since thursday and you havent been keeping me up to date and the quote has been ready since tuesday and now its thursday...7 days. i have kids and no vehicle. please call me back and take care of this. she calls me 20 minutes later(wow...so if i pull teeth and act like an @$$ they call back?). 'okay, the quote is 2400$, 800$ for parts and 1600$ for labour...' i say 1600 for labour huh? hmmm...its a fender bender. im not a moron. they are taking you for a run. 'oh no sir they are approved by us. they know what they are doing'. oh okay, so you are telling me it takes 21 hours to put on a front fender, a new bumper and a light? i can get that done myself in 4 hours. 2 hours with a buddy. now she is all silent and being cold. i say 'listen, you arent helping me at all. im getting royally screwed. i want to take my 50% of the money for the repair and do it myself because this is bull. well sir 50% of 2400 is 1200...but then we have to device 1200 by 2...which is 600...so you get 600. So let me get this right. the damage costs 2400...its a 50/50 accident so that means you pay 1200...but you are doing 50% of the 50% i am entitled too? so 600 out of 2400. so basically thats 75/25%. no sir you dont understand. no no i undestand perfectly, im getting SCREWED.

listen guys, do not deal with these guys ever. horrible horrible horrible customer care. they are so desensitized to your questions and concerns. they Do NOT CARE. i have been dealing with these guys for a long time and the only thing keeping me with them is the fact that my tickets and 50/50 accident cannot get me a good quote anywhere for the next 3 years. dont ever go with desjardins no matter how good the quote looks.

AAAGGGGHHHHHH!!!

I had deer collision 12 days after purchasing my new car. Desjardin think they will repair the car even tho the damage is over 60% of the value of the car. Had to fight with them to get second estimate, claims people are rude, claim no value now that all my car warranties are voided, and they told me they already had their numbers so it didn't matter where I took it for a second opinion, they wouldn't look at the estimate. There is even frame damage that they want to repair.
Still fighting but that's the way I intend to go down. I paid for replacement value, and I will go to court instead of driving the hunk of junk if that's what they think.
Do yourself a favour and find another insurer.

Don't use this corrupt company

For anyone who knows me-- I am not one to complain or start a fight. However, I do believe in one thing and that is the GOLDEN RULE. I could not sit back and let this company take advantage of me and so many others. After having one of the worst Customer Service Experiences in my 30 years on this planet, I went online to see if anyone else had been treated so unfair & rude. It didn't take me long to find countless others whom felt the same way about Desjardins' Practices and Policies. PLEASE READ if you are thinking about acquiring insurance from DESJARDINS...this may change your tune. I know I am not a fan of having my hard earned Money stolen ... I wouldn't think most are. Here is MY STORY (I had the same thing happen as the young boy in the story below).... I bought a brand new 2014 Mazda3 at the beginning of April. Making sure I could afford the insurance was a must before I purchased the car. Desjardins changed my quote so many times, Creating confusion from the beginning. After all my info was given properly online and over the phone --a policy issued. 2 weeks after the car was on the road Desjardins raised my rates over $75 more a month!!! WITHOUT a phone call, email or notice-other than receiving a new liability card in the mail & another $150 withdraw from my bank account. Although I made sure the rate was 100% with Vehicle VIN and Drivers License info, asking them to confirm the insurance amount several times---they claimed the same as in the story below. A ticket for 10 KM over in July 2011 was creating a hike from $290 to $374 a month. On top of that the original quote given online was $260--they get you with a low quote online but than changing it once you contact an agent over the phone ( This is mentioned in another review below from another upset customer....) And On a side note --- Even if I start a new online quote, right at this moment, with all my correct drivers experiences 2 accidents 1 at fault, 1 not at fault in last 10 years and 1 ticket in last 3 & My MAZDA3-- the quote comes back $260 rather than $375!! Funny how that works, and even funnier when I call and ask for an explanation they really cant give me one. IN FACT WHEN I DID CALL TO COMPLAIN OR GET ANY TYPE OF RESPONSE...I was told by the sales manager that "my concerns were not legitimate and my argument was getting me no where and my best bet would be to HANG UP!" I tried to ask her about their customer service policies, but she continued to tell me I would get no where with her and if I wanted I could cancel my policy. I WILL BE CANCELLING!! But I WANT ANSWERS !! Like WHY? And HOW Can an insurance company do this?? YES they are a large corporation but I truly believe if we ALL STAND TOGETHER WE CAN MAKE LARGE COMPANIES SUCH AS DESJARDINS STOP TREATING THE LITTLE PEOPLE THIS WAY I work very hard for my money, why must It be stolen from me from a company that I trusted to insure my vehicle. Just glad I didn't obtain other services from them. MORAL OF THE STORY ---Check online for reviews such as mine and the others on this site before thinking you can trust any company. I assumed because DESJARDINS was well known they were a reputable company with Morals and Values... Unfortunately not everything is as it seems.

Very rude customer service

I got a quote. The agent insisted on activating the home and auto insurance pending negotiations with my current insurer explaining that I could always call to cancel. I called back to cancel before the start date. The rudeness begins. The lady eventually cancelled the auto but apparently leaves the home insurance active without my permission. A month or more later, I see a pre-authorized debit in my bank account, call Desjardins. I was told it is for home insurance and the rudeness escalates.

I would never return to them even if they have the best rates- which I doubt they will if their agents are this rude.
