They will look for any loophole to not fully cover the damage to your vehicle after an accident. Even if there is no proof backing their reasoning they will not pay and make you have no choice but to pay upfront, with the hopes you will just give up and not take them to court. My car has been sitting in a garage for 6 months because they refuse to take care of their responsibilities! Absolutely terrible, I have NEVER seen this from insurance before!
Be careful and if this ever happens to you, it can be very discouraging but don’t give up!
Since 2018 till now I have paid 18000$ to Desjardins auto insurance and there was no claim. Today my car was hit from the back so I applied for a claim. Since morning 7:30 am when the accident happened and till now at 5:30 PM, I haven’t been provided a rental car knowing that I am having one vehicle at home and have a lot of liabilities like dropping/picking up kids going to work, etc... They give damn to answer or providing me information. The claim advisor appointed for my case was not even at the office. He is off from work. Worst ever experience. The government should look into it why we are paying these insurance companies a lot of money and not getting proper services. I am going to sue these guys for sure.
Did you know that on average Ontario drivers with good driving records pay $1,805/year in auto insurance? Is your insurance rate higher? Get a free car insurance quote and start saving today.
I find the staff professional and knowledgeable. I have had to deal with them on 3 claims over many years. My insurance has gone down, not up. I had one free accident and the other two were when my car wasn't moving and definitely not my fault.
One was my fault, but a very minor claim and the first big snowfall of the year. Insurance paid quickly, with no issues.
The second was from a 90-something-year-old man driving backward-no issues with coverage.
Presently someone rear-ended me after I was at a dead stop for over a minute on the highway. So far, everyone has been polite and is offering me a rental even when it wasn't something I was paying for as a courtesy as I was not at fault. I have some whiplash symptoms and I expect they will be like any other insurance trying to do the bare minimum. I hope to get some massage and physio so that I can resume work at full capacity. The lost income coverage is $400/week max in Ontario. I would advise anyone with injury claims to have a lawyer since it's still an insurance company. As long as all parties remain polite in interactions, the laws are there to support justice. I do advise choosing tour own autobody shop and medical providers and not those partnered with insurance who need to please the insurance companies trying to minimize the real situation. Using my own choice of a local shop with excellent reviews leaves me as the customer to please for future business and not the insurance company. I think this is important as they don't make it seem like you can choose your own, but you can.
l am leaving this comment since I don't think happy customers leave reviews as much as unhappy ones create and unfair representation of this company. If medical injury-get a lawyer. If a collision, choose your own. Document evidence. Follow the reporting procedures and this company is good.
Adjuster is useless, it felt like pushing rope to get my car repaired after no fault accident. The “section manager” attempted to use her title to intimidate me. The complainant department intentionally stalls the complaint process. Complete waste of money and most exhausting process ever.
They are price competitive, friendly, and very prompt to answer.
Thank you for excellent service!
This review is mainly regarding the service I received from Julie W. She is a breath of fresh air when dealing with insurance. My experience with the claims department was horrible and she stepped in and got ahold of the right people on the same day. She managed to obtain the information I needed from a 3rd party source and worked her magic. My issue was urgent and she was able to come through like a superstar. Her service is priceless and I absolutely loved dealing with her. The insurance industry needs more services like this.
If the people who worked for me treated our customers like Desjardins... We would be out of business. How hard can it be to return a call or email with an update on a no-fault claim?
It will be almost a month with no information.
The helpline just refers me back to an adjuster. Who promised to return calls in 5 business days but leaves no message and send no emails.
I got a call from the Rental Company to return the loaner the next day but nothing from Desjardins
1-1/2 weeks before our car insurance would expire, I had contacted the local Desjardins office trying to get both a car and home insurance quote. The representative sent me a lengthy email with all the details she required for this. 8 days before the renewal date I emailed her, providing all of this information. But there was no feedback whatsoever.
If you have a good driving record in AB, you should pay around $110/month (women - $105/month and men - $113/month). Do you overpay? Get an Alberta car insurance quote to start saving.
Amy is the worst claim adviser ever. She has not returned my calls or my emails! I try to talk to another advisor but they keep telling me to call Amy and she is not even picking up my call for 3 weeks!!!
They are perfect and reliable to take your money until you had an accident to request a claim. That is when you will know the real color of this company. No response, no callback and they will keep on taking your money. Please, I need someone to refer a good insurance company to me. Thanks.
