Very Frustrating...

I have been trying for months to get in touch with someone, they never pick up the phone. My insurance webpage is also another failure. There is not a simple way to communicate with them. One of my insurance will expire next week and I haven’t received my renewal package yet. My home insurance and other car insurance got a premium increase - no claims done what so ever!
Every time I called their customer service line I had to wait over two hours and twice in the middle of speaking with an agent I got disconnected. They have a very poor customer service and to top it off they are much more expensive than competitors. I was their customer for over 20 years and every year I noticed they increased my premiums without any accident claims. Once I called to add a new casual second driver (my daughter) to under my insurance they said my insurance would go up by $1400. That’s when I decided to shop around. I’m glad that I did cause my insurance actually went down with the competitors. Don’t waste your time or money with them.
If you have a good driving record in AB, you should pay around $110/month (women - $105/month and men - $113/month). Do you overpay? Get an Alberta car insurance quote to start saving.
They increase my car insurance by 30 % with no reason at all. Was trying to call them but was on hold for hours. It is impossible to talk to TD people and get any explanation of why it went up that high. So very disappointed. Might start shopping around for better car/home insurance.
Seriously a fraud company! I changed my address recently and I am the same postal code and still raised up the policy from 415 to 690 ...no accident no claims history at all and still jacked up the premium. Customer service rating would literally be in negative. Kept hanging up, had to call numerous times to get hold of one person. The company is trying to make their money back due to COVID 19 situation by charging ridiculous hike up on their auto insurance premium!
I've had my car insured with TD Insurance Meloche Monnex for 3 years and I'm just renewing for the 4th year. My premiums have been increasing by almost 10% per year. After the 2nd year they convinced me to download the TD My Advantage App on my cellphone which tracks my driving qualities and gives a score which can result in a discount of up to 25% on my premium. At the end of the 3rd year I had a score of 92 and a projected discount of 24%. When my policy renewal arrived in the mail, my premium increased by 8%. I called them and argued with the agent as well as his supervisor about where is my 24% discount. They said that the discount was already applied. They're saying that my premium increased by 42% and with the 24% discount I end up with an 8% increase.
This is all baloney. None of these calculations are provided on paper. If they were serious, all this would be shown on the policy renewal. It's a fraud.
After 17 years with the company, and part of a professional group that supposedly had a discount with TD, I was shocked to receive my annual renewal with a 29% increase.
Nothing has changed with me in the past year and so I called to ask why the increase.
I was told that all policies were affected by general conditions in the industry and there was nothing other than that they could identify in my situation.
Enough is enough and I am changing insurers. I have contacted a few and have found more competitive rates at all of them.
One in particular will take me back to the level of premium that I paid last year. That's a 29% reduction from the TD renewal quote.
Goodbye TD.
I am a client at TD Meloche Monex for more than 10 years now. It started with my first car when I was 17, got a good price because of their partnership with different Universities and Professional organizations, etc... I also got my home insurance with them now. HOWEVER, it is now impossible to speak to someone. Client service is awful. I don't think they have anyone listening to the phone anymore...They want us to do everything through the App or Website, but sometimes, you just have to speak to someone in order to explain a specific scenario... They should get 0-star review. I had one claim once. I got hit by someone. To be fair, I was happy with the process. For my claim, I was able to speak to someone quickly. The whole investigation process was fast and they sent me to a good car body shop (in eastern Montreal), so I can't say I had a bad experience with the claim. But again, for all other stuff (e.g. explanation on price, modification to policies), getting someone on the phone is a journey! Anyway, this year they increase my insurance rate for about 30% for no reason. Of course, impossible to talk to someone for an explanation... you need to wait for days on the phone... Now the rate is not competitive anymore, I am paying more than what I would from other insurance companies for similar coverage. I decided to move on with a better insurance company.
It was amazing to me that at a time when accidents and insurance claims, in general, must be at an all-time low, TD still justifies raising auto and home insurance premiums with no explanation. Having the TD My Advantage App is pointless as new rates are always higher and do not illustrate how/if the projected discount shown in the App is considered. But the best part is having failed to reach anyone on the phone in the evenings (two attempts with 30 min waits), I have now been on hold for over 2 hours on a weekday morning. Tying up my phone line, wasting my battery...and no end in sight. Totally defeated right now.
Did you know that on average Ontario drivers with good driving records pay $1,805/year in auto insurance? Is your insurance rate higher? Get a free car insurance quote and start saving today.
I am young and work in the insurance industry. I am my 3rd year of being insured with no accidents, yet premiums went up on renewal. The logic behind their pricing methodology makes no sense to retain customers. Most providers would absorb any market increases for no/low-risk clients to show that the value loyalty and as there is no justification, yet the chose to increase rates anyhow. In terms of pricing for COVID, they are providing reduced rates which is great of them, however, the mandate came into effect late May and is only effective after that point in time. Most insurers would backdate this premium rebate to the date where people were no longer commuting, April 1st unless there were claims made within that period of time. While they do offer very competitive rates right off the bat, the company seriously lacks any client retention initiative.... and if you have to pay a little more for another insurer you will probably profit off of it with rate reductions for a good record in the long run.

If I could rate them lower than 1 star I would. Tried several times by secure email and calling them only waiting forever online... and chatting on-line you wait forever as well... Terrible service!!! Maybe everyone cancelling policies due to the high increase this year. TD no more!
