The worst customer service. On the phone for over an hour, the second call. First was disconnected with no call back after being put on hold and being on the call for 20 minutes. This was for home insurance, 4 policy’s with them now for over 5 years. No claims. Paid on time always. Was asked questions there’s no way I could know the answers too, was asked to provide the info I could have no access to. “Please, provide proof the furnace was installed by qualified personnel”. I’m the fourth owner in 20 years. Called 3 other insurers after with great, easy experiences. Goodbye Aviva.
Extremely disappointed with RBC auto insurance. Wait times were extremely high and spoke with two representatives with poor communication and very misleading. After an abundance of time spent and quotation was reviewed by both representatives, the final quote had increased by double in cost. I caution anybody who is considering RBC as your auto insurance option.
If you have a good driving record in AB, you should pay around $110/month (women - $105/month and men - $113/month). Do you overpay? Get an Alberta car insurance quote to start saving.
The most frustrating experience I have ever had with an insurance company. When you call the 1-888 number, the typical hold time has been between 1.5 to 2 hours. They only occasionally give you the option of getting an automated call back when one of their representatives is available (out of 4 calls I was only given that choice once). Mostly you will sit there listening to the same hold music endlessly looping. It's enough to drive you crazy. Once you actually get to speak to someone, they are fairly helpful, but they still can't seem to solve one of my problems. While I have used their online access in the past, it no longer allows me in. When using the "forgot password" option, it will only allow the reset to be sent to an email address that they have incorrectly entered into their system and I have no way to correct it, so of course, I never receive the reset email. When I explained this to the representative, he said he would send me an email to my correct address for the reset. Of course, I never got that email, so he obviously did not follow up after hanging up. What a joke. That means another 2 hours on hold to get this fixed.
I’ve been on hold with RBC on Friday for over 2 hours. I went until their offices closed. Ridiculous. With Monday a holiday, I took Tuesday off work to get my insurance to straighten away...home and auto. I called as soon as their offices opened... 9:30 am NL time. I am still on hold. Almost 3 hours and still nothing. I cancelled my insurance with the company I was with them for years so I and my girlfriend could be on the same auto insurance and also home insurance as we purchased a new home. Not sure where this will get me but I just want people to know that this is what I’m going through since Friday. I don’t understand how I don’t have an agent yet as I called when offices just opened this morning. They also told me that I can do this online which is false. We tried that and we got rejected because apparently it can’t be done if you are a resident of Newfoundland and Labrador. I’m beginning to think that this was a bad idea as right now I can’t drive because my insurance with my previous company has been cancelled. Thanks, RBC.
I've been hung up on 4 times out of 5 times I've contacted this horrible company. Not hung up because of me... I never even got to speak to an agent. Just waited on hold or waited for a callback and when it rang to an agent, I was hung up on. So that wasn't the beginning of my HORRIBLE experience. At first, they upped my truck insurance $30/month. I called a bunch of times with the hang-ups, fuming mad, finally got them to reduce my rate as I was working from home. Set up an online account so I didn't have to deal with them... NOPE....they put my spouse's car under my account and today I tried to contact them back to fix it.....same hang-up issue. Waiting for the second callback... Will see if that one works. But now I'm done so I'm going to research other companies.
Did you know that on average Ontario drivers with good driving records pay $1,805/year in auto insurance? Is your insurance rate higher? Get a free car insurance quote and start saving today.
Their waiting time on the phone is insane!!! Then at one point, it will say if you want us to call back please press 1 and you won't lose your spot we will call back within this minute to these minutes (ex. 39 to 47mins). Trust me you won't get a call on time! They will call you back after 1 hour and when you answer they will put you back on hold for another hour!!! What is the point of asking to call back?? I do not suggest this company at all they do many mistakes as well. Overall they are irresponsible!!
Initial rates are reasonable, but once you become their client, they just keep increasing premiums without any explanation and waiting to speak to someone at their call center is also brutal. I highly recommend going elsewhere!
We called RBC customer service and waited for 2 hours before somebody picks up our calls. Due to the current situation right now we heard that another insurance company is giving a discount because we are not using our vehicle as we are working from home for almost a month now. RBC Insurance did not help at all. What they offered is to suspend the insurance and therefore you cannot use your vehicle at all. What kind of service they have. How can you not use your car especially this kind of situation, of course, we need to go out at least once a month to buy groceries but that is in your nearby area. We are only asking for a discount. It is so frustrating.
The rate quoted to me via the online application was amongst the lowest so I made the decision to switch to RBC. However, after 3 weeks of waiting on hold (20-30 minutes for every call), calling back several times because the underwriters have another question that needs to be answered before they can issue a policy, trying to get my current insurer to issue a Letter of Experience and get it to the right place via fax (seriously, is faxing still a thing?), I gave up.
I ended up calling Scotia Insurance - I paid an extra 10 bucks but I managed to get the whole thing out of the way in one day with confirmations of insurance in my inbox before I got off the phone with them .
Just not worth it.
Ever since Aviva partnered with RBC it's been a nightmare. Straight-up rip-off pricing. Terrible phone agents. They'll talk over you and hang up at their comfort during the middle of calls. Wait times were anywhere 40mins to 24hrs for them to call back if one of them chooses to. I've been on hold for 5 consecutive days 4hrs each day no one bothers picking up just stupid recording keeps playing over and over. I was a customer for 10years and this is the first time ever I had to call them to bind myself in headache. I will never give them my and family or friends business ever again. I am already pulling out insurance and banking with them and about 20 friends to follow. Yeah! Believe it or not... bye-bye RBC. KEEP UP THE IDIOCRACY TO THE MAX...
