Phoning these guys is a JOKE!
They'll give you a call back option and " we will get back to you in over 30 minutes" - not IN 30 minutes but OVER 30 minutes and if you need your phone while they're calling back, you're SOL.
I've spent the better part of 1/2 a day trying to talk these jokers.
My search for a new insurance co. begins now.
On Monday 24 July I bought a Mercedez Benz from Tristar in Dieppe NB. Their business office tried to contact RBC Insurance to advise them that I had another vehicle that had to be insured as I traded in my Lincoln MKT for a Mercedes GLK. I was there for my 12:30 pick up and they told me that they could not contact RBC Insurance and would I try to contact them. I tried numerous times and all I got was leave us a message. The dealership told me that they faxed the info and someone by the name of Jason said that they would take care of it and for me not to concern myself any longer as I would be receiving the insurance card in the mail and I went home. Today Friday 28 July, I went to Moncton and stopped in at RBC insurance Dieppe to inquire if the changes were made. The receptionist Sandy gave my insurance card to a male person who got on to the computer and after a few minutes, she informed me that the Mercedes was not insured and the Lincoln was and they needed the VIN number. I told Sandy that Tristar faxed all the info. I went to Tristar and they gave me a copy of the fax and paperwork with the VIN and the business lady at Tristar told me that she had spoken to someone by the name of Jason and that he would complete the documentation. I returned to RBC insurance at 11:35 am and told Sandy what the dealership told me and that someone by the name of Jason said that the documentation would be done. She went into the office where this high feeling male was and then told me that it would take a while and for me to sit and wait. I told Sandy that I would run some errands and inquired as to when they closed. She said 5 pm. At 03:45 I went to RBC insurance and was told that the documentation was not done and Jason would initiate it now and for me to sit and wait. I told her that I would inform my wife who was waiting in the vehicle. I entered the area and sat and a male person asked me if all was ok to which I said no as it had been a week and I thought the documentation was done for a vehicle transfer. At that, this male asked Jason if there was anything he could do to which Jason replied no and that I did not have a booked appointment with him. This Jason conducted himself in an arrogant manner to which I take offence. The whole time I was there, he spoke through Sandy even though I was only a few feet from him. Tri-Star Mercedes Dieppe can corroborate what should have taken place on the first day as they said that they have never seen such a scenario as this one. I got up and left and as I was leaving, I said mail me that documents, I waited long enough. When I got home I called the 1-800 number to RBC insurance and a person checked my policy and said that the insurance for the Mercedes was only coming into effect after midnight today. I drove for a week without the vehicle being insured which is not consistent with the rule of law. Have a look at my track record, I have bought many vehicles and had them insured from the dealer's office. Are you people at RBC Insurance turning into a fly by night organization?? I will be looking at options other than RBC Banking and insurance.
Called RBC Insurance for a quote back in April, and was going to call back once we obtained ownership of the vehicle. Long story short, we did not end up taking ownership. The car is still owned and insured by the original owner.
Someone at RBC Insurance went ahead and STARTED our policy, with no authorization or consent. We are now out over $800, and they are threatening a cancellation fee + bad insurance record for a car we do not even own. We have provided them with the VIN history report as well as the current insurance papers for the car - still not able to fix this.
How is this even possible?! How can you insure a car that is already insured?! This is mindboggling
My experience - I relocated from one city to the next thinking my son's father was going to be moving with me; this didn't end up happening though. However, RBC for some reason didn't "believe me". They wanted me to track down my son's father (who is abusive) and ask him for his driver's licence number. I asked to speak with a Manager; the same thing. If I didn't provide his licence number, my insurance would be cancelled? I am now with another insurer (AWESOME carrier) and they could not believe RBC treated a customer this way. I was told by this company that all that needed to do was to write a statement stating my son's father did not relocate to the new city with us (this is what the new company would have had me do). They are also really expensive with rates in comparison with other providers. Go with an insurance broker who will shop deals for you. NEVER go with a financial institution. Horrible experience. My deductible is now 1/2 of what RBC was giving me and I get lots of other bonuses as well. I had the bare minimum with RBC; when I switched to another insurance company, I was already down $30 per month!!! My plan was renewed this month, and it is down another $35.00!!!
I have nothing but a very positive experience in dealing with a recent vehicle accident.within 24 hours local branch of mark and Melissa had me in touch with claim adjustor colleen then immediate appointment for damage assessment followed by a call from repair shop. car star did a remarkable repair job, rbc had a rental on repair site entrerprise who were very accomidating.colleen claim adjustor even called me to to let her know if repair was satisfactory. in the course of this unfortunate accident I dealt with very caring kind people.many years I have dealt with public and your company has risen to a very high standard in my eyes. who else would one want to deal with if you had a tragic misadventure.rbc you rock and I thank you cheryl
Did you know that on average Ontario drivers with good driving records pay $1,805/year in auto insurance? Is your insurance rate higher? Get a free car insurance quote and start saving today.
Had my vehicle vandalized ten days ago while parked in my driveway. RBC was fantastic at handling my claim. They coordinated "valet" service whereby a tow truck was arranged to come to pick up my (undrivable) vehicle and take it one of their preferred repair shops, Assured. A rental was also dropped off at my house from Enterprise. Everything was arranged for me. Both Assured and Enterprise called me to arrange for appropriate times to pick/drop off vehicle. My vehicle was ready today and tow truck dropped off my repaired car to my driveway and Enterprise sent someone over to pick up the rental. I have nothing but positive things to say about RBC and subsequent service received from repair shop and rental place. Great customer service from all parties involved - during a stressful time.
Hello, I am a 19 year old and as of yesterday I was forced to remove my name that was under my premed policy. My parents have been with them for 10 or more years and as far as I could remember I've never heard my parents complaining much about them. Like my first car accident they were helpful and didn't give any problems to me but my second one... Horrible situation and still on going. Since my car was a write-off I had to buy a new car and add it into the policy, called em up had no problem adding it but I thought that the papers were said that my mom is the owner and I was a co signer or whatever, so I told Walter (the rep, he is a very nice person ) that it's under my moms name. I also requested them to send proof of insurance papers to the dealership and it was no problem. The next day I picked up my new car and I was so excited of course. My family and I all went to sign the papers but said that the insurance papers haven't come in so I of course called rbc and told them the situation. But this representative named "Gill" or something similar totally messed everything up. Because the adjuster (Daren or Darrel i forgot the name) was negligent to asking me what actually happened in the accident, he just put me at fault. Like the reasonable adjuster in this case would actually ask for a fully detailed explanation of the accident but since for the time being I received a ticket it's assumed my fault. Keep in mind no one said I was guilty, not even the police officer said I was at fault completely. So what gives you any authority to tell me that I'm fully at fault? Obviously insurance wise it's a yes or no thing but I'm still waiting on my court date in 2-3 months for the not guilty plead and it's a shoe-in for my ticket to be lifted from the situation it's been in. BASICALLY, what Gill did, was he put me as an independent client and made out premium go through the roof! We paid I'd say around 190/per month it's good price. He said because of the accident that I was not at fault at the premium would go to almost 600 dollars a month like hello sir, who is going to pay such an ungodly price for that ???? My family and I do not have high income, we are an average household who will no longer put up with such prices. He said it's either I pay that much or I remove my name completely off the policy. I just decided to take it off completely. So now my beautiful new car is sitting in my driveway, untouched since my dad drove it home. My dad is very mad and upset at this and we are for sure changing companies as soon as possible. Sorry for such a long review I just needed to get that off my check. Thanks
Unreasonable company. Having to prove my innocence all the way. Stay away from this company
If you have a good driving record in AB, you should pay around $110/month (women - $105/month and men - $113/month). Do you overpay? Get an Alberta car insurance quote to start saving.
My car was hit in a parking lot - $4500 in damages, not my fault - thankfully the woman stuck around - called RBC at 830PM that night, took all the details. The next day they dropped off a (free) rental (on a flatbed) then took my car for repairs - they had this valet service I did not know about - honestly, I just bought the cheapest insurance on line. My car is now in for repairs and they are using "new" certified parts direct from BMW. Other than a trip to the reporting centre (my time - 20 minutes) it will not cost me a single penny. Thanks RBC - I have already recommended you to others because of this incident.
You can never reach someone at RBC by phone without waiting on hold
minimum 45 minutes and sometimes hours
Does not matter what time of day or night your try
