Insurance canceled for not my fault

1 out of 5 stars
Normally I expect an insurance provider to be bad after signing up. They'll do anything for your service, and then turn a blind eye. This was a blind eye before they even had my service.
Their online system wasn't working. It kept saying they couldn't verify my identity after they were supposed to send my phone a code (which it didn't). So I talked to CS, and they confirmed there is no reason I shouldn't be able to buy online, and gave me instructions to clear my cache, restart my browser, and retrieve my quote.
Only their own instructions don't work. There is no button to retrieve quote.
So I rebuilt the entire quote from scratch, on a new browser with everything cleared and it still didn't work, and he confirmed that while he could help me, I would lose the 5% online discount (which would work out to be like ~$85)... So I have to pay an extra $85 because your system, and their own instructions don't work (tried on 3 different browsers, and mobile)???
And again, if this is how bad their system and customer service is before I've even paid them, I can't even begin to imagine how bad it is after they have my money...
The wait time for any phone service is disastrous at the epic level.
To make matters worse, the agent you speak with gives you a quote and when you receive the documents, you find a totally different value.
Today, I tried to pay an outstanding balance through my TD Insurance account. The system locked me out for some unknown reason.
I called the number that was posted on the screen for me to call.
I am waiting for the fourth agent now to connect with me because all the previous three agents that I was connected to, each time one agent transfers me to another because he is certified to provide me access to my account to pay my outstanding bill.
Would you believe that?
Stay away from this company.
I can't wait for the policy to finish after which time I will definitely not go back with them!
Did you know that on average Ontario drivers with good driving records pay $1,805/year in auto insurance? Is your insurance rate higher? Get a free car insurance quote and start saving today.
For 3 days I've been trying to reach TD Insurance. I've waited on hold for 14 hours total. I even set alarms to call right when they say the line opens (both today and yesterday). All I want is to update my contact info so that I can access my policy. When I try to do this online, it says I need to call in, but nobody answers the phone. They don't care at all about their policyholders. This is a nightmare, and this is horrible customer service. There was no delay in taking my payment however - that was processed immediately!
I've been a long time customer of Meloche Monnex... Well, now they call it TD Direct Insurance. It has really gone downhill over the years. You used to be able to phone in and reach an agent pretty quickly. But sadly in the last 2 to 3 years, things have become horrible. The website to do so-called self-service is a joke (free-form text you type in... and wait for an answer?). And I've waited 45 minutes on hold, I've waited 25 minutes, I've waited an hour and given up. How can one plan to make a change if you don't know if you need 20 minutes, 30 minutes, 50 minutes, 1 hour on hold, then a further 30 to 40 minutes talking to the agent? Just sad how low on staff they are now. Planning a change.
Had to give 1 star because the review does not accept it if you do not put any. I know the value for money should probably be a bit higher but no, it is not a good value as the service for customer service does not exist. I actually have a theory that there is only one person answering all calls and another one doing the online one. Been trying since 08.30 and at 17.30 still did not manage to reach them. Started the day by calling their number, after over an hour I hung up thinking the call must be wrong somehow. Called back and chose the callback option. Get the call back maybe 30-45 min later and waited another 30 min with no answers.... did it again, the same thing, then tried thru the net, while simultaneously calling, 2.5 hours into the call the phone hung up. (after some 1.75 hours somehow got directed to website customer service, which could not do anything but redirect me). Then after roughly 2.75 hours on the site, I had to take care of my daughter because my waiting number just went magically from 2-3 instead of going down so of course in the 5 min someone on the site appears but I am not in front of the computer as like I said I took 5 min to make sure she was alright. So in that less than 5 min, the representative closed my window and because it is past the closing time I can not go back. Oh did I mentioned the website kicks me out before that 2.5 hours because it bugged and totally shut my customer service chat window... So yeah, I am now back on the phone since they are open until 2000, 30 min in, hope the wait won't be so bad this time since I wasted literally a day on this. All this to find out if there are fees in cancelling before the end of the contract with them as there is no way I am wasting time like this again. My consolation is that I actually did not have any emergency that required counselling as I would have been totally on my own... TD, I have seen and heard of bad customer service, but you are on your own level, way up there, or down depending which way you look at it.
If you have a good driving record in AB, you should pay around $110/month (women - $105/month and men - $113/month). Do you overpay? Get an Alberta car insurance quote to start saving.
Their customer service has gone from good to awe-full. Wait times are beyond acceptable just to finally get through to incompetence. They tell you to go online to manage your account. The online portal is useless and the online chat is not available. Talking with one of the representatives was poor.
If I could give a lower rating I would... but I can't. Spent over an hour on hold to only be disconnected. Tried again the next day and the same thing happened. So I went a different route by sending a message on their website, after writing my long message it didn't let me send it as the "function was unavailable"... So I turned to Twitter to get information and get my question answered only to be told to try phoning them again. Absolutely useless!
I sat on hold for the ridiculous amount of time, two hours and 44 minutes only to be disconnected.
This is the second attempt at getting a simple thing done that for some reason won't allow me to do it online and I've been on hold for almost 4 hours total without talking to an agent.
I'll be taking my business elsewhere because there is no way anyone could think this is acceptable.
Car insurance premium rising every year. Yet unable to get through to an agent by phone or online. Unless you have enough time on your hands to wait for who knows how long? Hopefully, you don't get transferred that is another hold time. I couldn't even get access to the website for a few days with no reason for the problem? This is just so I could pay for my coverage? I've never had so much pain trying to give someone money. When I finally got through they decided to tack on a late penalty! That was it for me. Cancelled. They wouldn't rescind the penalty. So for $25 they lost over $1000. Never use TD for insurance. They do not have enough "service" people to handle what business they have. I'm just glad I didn't have to file a claim. That must be scary.

After my credit card was stolen and the number changed, I tried to update it online on multiple occasions, and it wasn't being updated for pre-authorized payments. I contacted TD insurance multiple times to resolve the issue so that I won't accidentally miss payments. Once I thought the issue was resolved, turned out my payment information wasn't updated and I missed two payments and my insurance was canceled for non-payment. I haven't received any notice of cancelation to my email or phone, nor I was notified about missed payments. Contacting TD insurance produced no results and no I am facing the consequences.
