by Dallas2306 on Nov 16, 2017

Bel air increased my insurance $360 a year because of the location I live in, I have a perfect driving record no accidents, no claims and no tickets shouldn't my insurance go down not up. I've lived in the same place for 3 years why would my insurance go up now. It's the scam insurance companies have on the go

What a Joke for Company.

by Romel Harripersaud on Nov 10, 2017
1 out of 5 stars

They advertise first at-fault forgiveness; however, when I had my first at-fault, which was minor, they are getting rid of me claiming my address is not correct. Despite 6 different proofs of address, including CRA documents. Please don't waste your time with this joke for a company.

This company is fraud

I bought travel insurance which include facility to get replacement transportation for damaged car. That was as told to me is valid for any car. I did not buy insurance from my rental car assuming I am protected. When my car was robbed in San Jose and window was broken they simply refused to provide any service to me and I also have home isurance that protects me from damage to property they didn’t advice me to claim for my stolen items. Their agents are trained to avoid any liability for companies even if customer deserves it and paid for it. They are threatening me to report to credit bureau since I stoped their payment upon dissatisfactiry customer service no one called or followed up except for payments. Please avoid this company.

They tell you they can save you money. Well, that is a joke after the first year they never asked if I wanted to renew just sent me my insurance slips. Phone them and to my surprise, they increased my premium a year by 500.00 dollars more a year. No accidents no claims am over 50. This company is a complete joke and I never would tell anyone to get insurance with them.

Worst ever

Good prices but hopefully you never have a claim. Never seen a company treat people so bad after being with them for 16 years without a claim.

Unreasonable quote

by Victor Chu on Oct 13, 2017

I have been with Canadian Direct Insurance for 15 years (Alberta) without any issues until it was changed to BelairDirect. Since then the premium had gone up a bit in the last couple years (that's acceptable as an inflation adjustment). I used to have 3 vehicles for 2 drivers with full coverage for the last 15 years (of course over the years older cars were replaced by newer cars but the premium had been consistent with moderate adjustment year over year). As of Aug, the total premium was around $2500/year. In Sept, I added my daughter as the principal driver to one of the vehicles with the same coverage. As expected premium went up to $4300/year but no problem since an inexperienced driver was added to the policy so I must pay more (1800/year more). My daughter is now (Oct) studying in Vancouver so I bought her another car in Vancouver with a separate policy purchased under her name (total 3700/year). Then I called BeairDirect to remove my daughter from the Alberta policy. The total premium was only reduced to 3890 from 4300. What? the premium for the same 3 vehicles with the same coverage for the same 2 drivers now was increased from 2500/year to 3890/year? The operator on the line was not helpful at all but just kept telling me the adjusted monthly payment I have to make. I told her I would call another auto insurance to get a quote and would switch. She promised a supervisor would call me back but never happened. After a 15-minute talk with another auto insurance, I got a quote of 3106/year for the same coverage, plus a home insurance premium reduction of $200 on my existing home insurance as a discount of having both auto and home insurance with them.

Bad Company

by matthew on Oct 12, 2017

The biggest joke of an insurance company I have ever had to deal with. I called and they gave me a quote. I spent 2 hours on the phone trying to get all of the detailed figured out. Then I went out of my way to go into their location only to be told they wouldn’t insure me. Waste my time and then do nothing to apologize. Lying disgusting company.

The worst company STAY AWAY

by Taps2017 on Oct 2, 2017
1 out of 5 stars

I was moving away due to work and wanted to cancel the insurance. The first representative tells me that there's no charge for cancellation and the other person tells me since "you can't provide the address of the new place your moving to in another province then we will have to charge you $210". This company is a scammer. The representative over the phone was rude and didn't know how to speak to customers. I will not even give them any stars for rating. The worst experience I had!

what happened?

by red rum on Oct 1, 2017

I have been with this company for over 10 years with no problems until this year. I should say that 3 years ago I had an at-fault accident and having a clean record they said my rates will not go up... insurance forgiveness. However, this July my insurance went up 14%! I didn't want to believe what I was seeing so I called them for clarification. They said they had received more claims than normal last year so insurance went up for everyone. I tried to protest, why would it go up for me if I have been good for over ten years? Why 14 %? I even told them 5 or 6% was reasonable, not double? All cries went unanswered, instead, they offered to take 5% off if I download their drive app... record my driving habits. Exasperated I downloaded their app and took their offer as a good boy. Now I bought a bike that needs to be insured. I can't wait to talk to customer service.
