Belairdirect provided me with my absolute customer experience ever! The problem with insurance companies is that you don't really know what they are like until an issue comes up. Unfortunately I found out what Belairdirect was like. In their defense they had me re-apply for insurance because I missed a payment. I'm new to paying for my own insurance and didn't transfer the funds into the account which is my fault. The problem is once you have to re-apply it is an absolute nightmare. They mail the application and then you have to mail it back and then you have to wait 17 business days for them to look at it. Once they look at it and if there is anything that isn't properly filled out or missing they again mail it back to you and then again it is another 17 business days etc, etc. It is absolutely unbelievable! I don't care how much their quote is... I will NEVER use this company. God help you if you ever have to deal with them for a claim IT'S NOT WORTH IT!!!
Stop advertising you have the best customer service because you people do not. Every time i call the same attitude like " huh is it a problem? you can always go to other companies" why we do not know that? I should have given - 0 stars but there is no option to do that. Remember the minute they say you have to wait for 17 or 21 business days that is the time you should forget about belair and actually go to other companies. believe me these guys are worthless. I have never seen a worst customer service ever. They do not give anything. they will make u to wait until u loose your patience.
Did you know that on average Ontario drivers with good driving records pay $1,805/year in auto insurance? Is your insurance rate higher? Get a free car insurance quote and start saving today.
This company is the epitome of an unmitigated disaster. Every individual on the phone would give a slightly different quote and although it may seem that the quote is cheaper, it is not worth it. You would first have to request a form that you have to fill out and mail back. This process is suppose to take about 17 days according to the customer service representative, it took my application 45 days. This I thought was unacceptable, I was not able to drive my car until I had my insurance and this company had the audacity to send back my application because of errors. The only error that I had was I forgot to write my postal code, not even a call back, mail back for me to wait 45 days.. Unacceptable. Of course I was not patient enough to wait that much, so I decided to go to Co-operator, who did the application in 1 day and the next day I was able to drive. Avoid this company at all cost, they are way behind in time and have not adapted to modern technology. Resulting in slow, unorganized and dysfunctional services. The 17 days they claim is to check over your history and past but any other company will do it in less than a day. Trust me.
This company is a joke when it comes to pay out your auto claims also their customer service is the worst, not once has anyone called me and it has been a month. You have to call them over and over to find out what is happening and not one person from reps, to adjustors, to the manager has the courtesy to pick up a phone and call you to tell you what is going on. On top of it they went 50/50 on a rearend which clearly showed that I was rearended, but because there were no witnesses they concluded there was not enough of evidence, when clearly everyone from collision centre to police said it was the other parties fault.
Beware of this company because once my claim has closed I do not want to have anything to do with them, I just cannot wait to have my claim closed who knows how long that will take now.
I've been part of this community for a few years now and figured I'd give my fellow Canadian members a heads-up. Last year I found a new car, fully optioned with rear DVD and B&O sound. The only thing was - the car was in a previous accident before it made it's way to Quebec from Ontario. The price was right so I made the move. A few weeks after purchase I contacted iND and ordered carless DP's from AMS. Fast forward, I got back from a trip to Toronto and decided to hit the gym. After about an hour or so of training, I walk into the locker room to find my lock gone and later realized my M5 was taken from the parking lot... Needless to say, I kicked my self in the butt for leaving the car keys in the locker but they aren't the most convenient to have on you when you jog. That's where BELAIR/INTACT come in. I filed the claim that same night and it's been a nightmare ever since. They've given me the run around for over three months until I mentioned contacting my lawyer. At that point, the adjuster told me that and I quote - ''well, I understand that your unhappy with the time the investigation has taken but if you had to write a check for this amount it would hurt you too''. I advised her that I had recorded this conversation after which she explains to me that they will be refusing my claim because after the car was repaired and brought into Quebec it was not inspected legally?? I asked for an explanation and that as far as she would go. I ask what responsibility I had in this as I bought the car repaired and even declared to the agent at the time of insurance that the car had been in a prior accident and they were fine with that. She said it was policy and that they would be refunding me the entire policy. I find this to be a ridiculous nightmare. This is my 16th BMW and I'm 30 years old. I paid the car in full and never had a claim. I want to warn others that are insured by Belair or Intact that this can happen to you. After contacting an insurance lawyer on the phone and explaining the situation he said let me guess - are you insured with Intact? I was surprised and relieved to hear I was not the only one to go threw this. After meeting with him he proceeded to show me 15 current lawsuits he has filled against BELAIR/INTACT in the past 6 months. Important to note all claims over 50,000$. He said they are known not to pay large claims and take a gamble that you'll sue and get fed up or run out of money threw postponement and court fees. Needless to say, I told him I will never drop this, money, not in question. This a dirty business tactic by a company that I thought was above board.
I recently received a quote that I was somewhat pleased with. I called them back within a couple hours about adding my boyfriend on as an occasional driver and they told me that they would have to cancel my insurance as they deemed him an unsafe driver (had 4 speeding tickets in the last 3 years). I carried on and found insurance elsewhere but noticed that they had not put the first double payment deposit back into my account. I called them about this discrepancy and they told me that they actually insured me for the random number of 20 days (WITHOUT EVER TELLING ME BECAUSE I FOUND OTHER INSURANCE ELSEWHERE AND FEW DAYS LATER). Infact, they told me that I should be considered lucky because I could be charged 13% of my quoted total for the year. Having to pay for a service I did not use (and did not even know I had), is wrong on so many levels. I will never insure with this fake scam of a company ever again, even if they offer the lowest rate. I advise YOU to STAY AWAY from belairdirect.
These guys are big fool, don't even know how to acquire a customer. They will give you a decent quote online but when you call them they will send you a paper application to fill, which takes at least a week to reach you and then you will fill and post it back, that takes another week at least, after which it takes more then a month for them to see and decide on you application and then they try to find out silly things like if you did not fill any column even if that is not applicable for you, e.g. commecial use which is not applicable in most cases like many other example, and then they will return you application back after waiting for almost 1.5 months and ask you to re-send, which resets the process and thren another 1.5 month waiting, hence have Patience to wait anywhere from 3 months or more to get your application with them without knowing the outcome, by the time they get to your application their online quote already expires,so they are basically not obliged to honour their own quote, useless customer service and so frustrating process, decided to go with other company already even if I have to pay more. Suggestion- don't wait for them to process your application.
Former Grey Power client. I was on a monthly payment plan. When I got my new policy documents from Grey Power I called to say I just wanted lump sum because of the new surcharge for monthly. Then Grey Power rolled over to BelAir. Didn't think it would be a big deal but was in for a surprise this month to find BelAir has charged my visa for a month of both home and auto insurance one month my policy is set to renew. I called to get the charges reversed and was told the charges were for my previous year's policy - after 10 minutes of going through my policy info with the BelAir rep that was finally cleared up. Then he suggested the pre-payment could just be charged to my policy renewal. I told him I had no intention of pre-paying anything and had not decided if I would renew with them. I was promised the charges would be reversed. Just back from a week of holidays and still no reversal. Will see what happens with the next phone call but thus far I am not impressed with the way BelAir is doing business.
If you have a good driving record in AB, you should pay around $110/month (women - $105/month and men - $113/month). Do you overpay? Get an Alberta car insurance quote to start saving.
We decided to change our insurance to TD because their rates were better by $500 (I am not exaggerating). As I was wrapping up the cancellation with Belair, they all of a sudden tacked on a cancellation fee just shy of $150. I checked online and there is no mention of a cancellation fee anywhere on their website or in their actual policy documents sent to us. I told this to the agent and she told me that it is mentioned once in the 75-page booklet sent to us when we first started our policy. I asked her why this was not online and she said "because nobody would read it". Anyway, I told her that this cancellation fee means that I will never insure with them again. Her response was a verbal shrug. Summary: bad quotes, hidden fees. Watch out. The only good thing about Belair is that many of their agents are courteous.
Had an accident car valued at 20k repairing cost was 15k and they couldn't do a total loss it doesn't make sense other insurance companies will do a total loss tight away. Zahid B. worst claims supervisor ever very disrespectful and not cooperative with customer bad review 0 out of 100 for him. He swore and demanded to approve repairs for my vehicle
