They laugh when you claim!!

by true-bad-experience on Oct 21, 2015
1 out of 5 stars

It's in Quebec. I "too luckily" got an accident in shadow of a bridge in downtown and so called them to make claim and ask them to make claim to the city. The lady said yes but then went for vacation without leaving any record to others. I had no choice but to wait for her back. When she came back 2 months later(that kind of claim to city has 15 days limitation after incident), I called her again but she said she didn't know AND she didn't say that she would make claim to city! And I heard she was laughing when I said she might cause to lose money on deductible of repairing and future premiums!!
I complained that to Desjardins and asked them to pay me back the deductible and change the claim to not-at-fault, but they just kept saying even if they had made claim to city in time, it would still be my fault!!
In conclusion, they don't respect your feeling!
They don't want to pay you for their fault!
They just want your money!

Info Changed Without Consent

by unhappywithservice on Oct 8, 2015

I got a letter stating that my insurance would be canceled , when I called them they said they tried to contact me and the numbers don't work, when I ask them what information they have on file me ,my email was incorrect,my numbers was changed and they cant seem to tell how yet they canceled my insurance on the bases that they tried to reach me at information which I didn't change.

I asked them what does the record show, and how come no one asked me my security question which was on file...I spoke to two agents and none of them could tell my why they didn't ask me my password they were like "oh Im sorry" may I have it now.

So now if it out of their control like they said on my record I will have a cancelling due to non-payment of bill but they messed up my file ( MY CARD WAS EXPIRED AND I WAS WAITING ON A NEW CARD IN THE MAIL) and I called them before it all yet my information seem to miraculously changed and had an accident while insured in September and now IS October and all of a sudden my info change,, and they were contacting me on the same information to handle my claim.

I will never recommend this company to anyone even if its ontario or another province.

Bad experience

I will never recommend this insurance company to anyone.
Bad customer service and generally very poor services compared the value you're paying !
Also when I wanted to cancel my contract with them, they were very rude and kept transferring my call from one person to the other. Eventually they ripped off an extra 350 dollars in addition to the cancellation fee. Unbelievable!

Did you know that on average Ontario drivers with good driving records pay $1,805/year in auto insurance? Is your insurance rate higher? Get a free car insurance quote and start saving today.

Hit and run

My car was hit and run, after contacting the police I call Desjardins to start a claim. The first Rep I talked with told me that this was not covered under my police, out of fear of having my rates increased I did not file a claim. After learning my car should be a write off I filed a claim. The clams office called me 3 days after I submitted my claim at the end of her day, witch in Alberta is 2PM, she did not leave me a claims number. I called her back after receiving the voice mail and left a message. I waited the one businesses day NO phone call, I waited a SECOND business day NO phone call. I called back and left another message. I waited the one businesses day NO phone call, I called again and left another message. NO phone call. I called a 4th time, she answered the phone. I INTRODUCED MYSELF told her I was not given a claims number, and described the situation. Her words were "Oh your the Hit and Run girl, ya that wont be covered under your policy". I told her I have a name. I could go into more detail but basically she was INCREDIBLY RUDE, she didn't look up my information till I ASKED her too. I contacted there customer complaints department and told them my situation, SAME THING, they didn't care!!!!

To sum up, don't have insurance with this company. they Lack compassion, understanding and the ability to look at individual situations.
To rewrite the words of there president in the truth,
WE will not be there when the unexpected happens, you will not get to rest assured, we will not be there for you today the day of your accident, and diffidently not tomorrow.

WORST CLAIM SERVICE EVER

I had my car stolen December 5th. I have left several messages for my adjuster and then his supervisor. To date not one return call from either the adjuster or the supervisor. I have called again today and was advised to escalate the matter to another department and should receive a call-back within 24 hours. Thank god we do not have our home insurance with them.

Worst Experience Ever

I called them for auto insurance. After 10 calls , 3 voice mails and requests to speak to a manager i got nowhere. Very very poor service, everytime I called they raised the quote........the system is totally confusing where associates dont even know whether they are taking "personal insurance" (sister company) related calls or desjardin related. Wasted my 4-5 hrs. WOULD NEVER GO BACK TO THEM OR RECOMMEND THEM TO ANY FRIEND OR FAMILY

>Been with these guys for 11 years(since I was a new driver/teen). At the time they were known as Certas Direct, they were bought out by Desjardins.
>At first I was getting a great rate when they were Certas. I think I was paying 150$/mth. and it even got as low as 110$/mth. when I switched vehicles.
>When I noticed things were getting weird was when Desjardins randomly sent me an insurance/ownership holder in the mail with a letter saying 'blah blah we own certas, you are our valued customer blah blah'. Not too long after i got my very first speeding ticket, and then one more later that year. When my policy was renewed my rate went from 110$/mth to 200$/mth. While I take full responsibility for my tickets, i dont think i should be paying 90$ extra every month for two measly tickets.
>years later i acquired another ticket. it skyrocketed to 275$/mth. Now I am in full panic mode. I called them and said 'listen guys, yes i sped. i get that. but 275$/mth is ridiculous. i am on the brink of selling my car and opting to just use public trans/bike.' they said 'no no no, we will lower it to 250$ a month in 3 months time.' i agreed.
>RECENTLY i got into an accident. it was the other drivers fault but there was no witnesses and the other driver lied on his police report. Because we had 'conflicting stories' the two insurance companies decided to make this a 50/50 split. I was assigned a moron of a service rep. She doesn't care nor take into account anything i say. what she says is what she says. To her there is no other option. its desjardins(gods) word. Get this...I put my car into a shop on a thursday, my agent said she'd call me later that night to talk about it. no call. next day, no call. i call her. voicemail. weekend goes by. no call. i call her, leave new voicemail, she calls me back. tells me three things 'just waiting for the quote from the mechanic and i will call you back. tuesday comes. no call. weds. no call. thurs no call. i call in. voicemail again. call mechanic shop and say 'what the hell is going on with my car?' apparntly they took it apart on tuesday and assessed everything and been waiting for my agent to call. i get angry and call my agent. voicemail. 'yea, my car has been in the shop since thursday and you havent been keeping me up to date and the quote has been ready since tuesday and now its thursday...7 days. i have kids and no vehicle. please call me back and take care of this. she calls me 20 minutes later(wow...so if i pull teeth and act like an @$$ they call back?). 'okay, the quote is 2400$, 800$ for parts and 1600$ for labour...' i say 1600 for labour huh? hmmm...its a fender bender. im not a moron. they are taking you for a run. 'oh no sir they are approved by us. they know what they are doing'. oh okay, so you are telling me it takes 21 hours to put on a front fender, a new bumper and a light? i can get that done myself in 4 hours. 2 hours with a buddy. now she is all silent and being cold. i say 'listen, you arent helping me at all. im getting royally screwed. i want to take my 50% of the money for the repair and do it myself because this is bull. well sir 50% of 2400 is 1200...but then we have to device 1200 by 2...which is 600...so you get 600. So let me get this right. the damage costs 2400...its a 50/50 accident so that means you pay 1200...but you are doing 50% of the 50% i am entitled too? so 600 out of 2400. so basically thats 75/25%. no sir you dont understand. no no i undestand perfectly, im getting SCREWED.

listen guys, do not deal with these guys ever. horrible horrible horrible customer care. they are so desensitized to your questions and concerns. they Do NOT CARE. i have been dealing with these guys for a long time and the only thing keeping me with them is the fact that my tickets and 50/50 accident cannot get me a good quote anywhere for the next 3 years. dont ever go with desjardins no matter how good the quote looks.

AAAGGGGHHHHHH!!!

I had deer collision 12 days after purchasing my new car. Desjardin think they will repair the car even tho the damage is over 60% of the value of the car. Had to fight with them to get second estimate, claims people are rude, claim no value now that all my car warranties are voided, and they told me they already had their numbers so it didn't matter where I took it for a second opinion, they wouldn't look at the estimate. There is even frame damage that they want to repair.
Still fighting but that's the way I intend to go down. I paid for replacement value, and I will go to court instead of driving the hunk of junk if that's what they think.
Do yourself a favour and find another insurer.

Desjardins - Doesn't add up!

by Tom on Jan 13, 2014
2 out of 5 stars

I called Desjardins after creating my on-line quote for our 2 cars. I had my quote printed out and in front of me. Basically I answered most of the questions over again with the agent (loosely referred to as an Agent) . She gave me a quote after randomly asking several questions (which were already answered on the quote that I had generated) but the quote was 200 and something higher than the quote that I had manually generated myself, however after double-checking all of my answers, we found that there was no differences other than the cost that she quoted. Somehow after mumbling her way through something, she came back with a slightly lower number and once again I explained that her number was still higher so there she goes again, asking me the same questions over again and then finally she get to a number that was $80 less than the quote that I got myself (without changing anything!). No complaining from me there! Then I was asked if I wanted their "adjusto" "thing" which would record our driving habits; it would knock off another 5% from our rates so I went for it. The only problem was, is that now she comes back with another number which was more than 95% of the quote which she just gave to me. I was becoming rather impatient at this point but I calmly explained how to reduce my quote by 5%. From that point onward she barely listened to me at all and denied haven given me the quote that I agued she had. Then I suggested that we just go back to the original quote and then proceed to lower it by 5% for the "adjusto" thing but then she came up with a different starting number altogether. At this point I figured that Desjardins was not a company that I wanted to deal with if their agent could not do basic arithmetic (most of which I thought was intentional).
She then hung up on me! Unbelievable! I thought about how a claim scenario might go with them and after reading some of the reviews on this site, I kind of get the gist of what it might have be like. I have no time for companies like Desjardins. Too bad, thought I was going to get a good deal on my car insurance!

Don't trust Desjardins

Called to make ONE modification to my policy in Oct of 2013, they made the wrong change, didn't know how to fix it, asked me to be patient. Sent me 3 sets of renewal documents, all of them different, sent me other credit card billing "notifications", each one different and could not explain to me how they came up with the figures. Tried to charge my credit card after I told them not to, when the CC transaction would not go through, they sent me a bill and had the NERVE to add an admin fee of $30 even though I had sent in the new cc info before they charged my card. Have made approx 8 calls, each time I am on hold for 30 - 45 minutes while they read all the notes. They keep telling me to be patient (which I have been) and not to worry about the outstanding bill...now they have advised me that they will CANCEL my policy if I don't pay, when I (and they) don't even know how much I am supposed to pay! I am calling the Ombudsman, this is absurd
