The Worst company

by harisansari93 on Jan 25, 2016
1 out of 5 stars

i was involved in an accident december 11 2015 not at fault , it was completely the other drivers fault as he didnt stop at the stop sign and t boned me.the car was totaled and written off. Sophia was the lady that was dealing with my case . today is january 25 2016 and i still have not received any funds for the car and Sophia is not where to be reached, constantly trying to fight my way through to settle the case and almost 40 days later the case was settled but it wasnt easy. this lady Sophia did absolutely nothing for me and she should be fired if you do decide to go with this company getting insured is the easy part. god forbid u get into an accident not at fault be prepared to wait over 30 days to settle the case this company is a joke, very organized unprofessional and just plain rude. words cannot describe my frustration with this company which has resulted to me writing my first ever bad review about a company . i give this company -5/5

SCAMMERS DESJARDINS

Irresponsible! The worst insurance company! 1) Once removed within six months with the money from my account, without permission insured my home and withdraw money for full coverage on the car even though he was old for their understanding. I was brazenly robbed DESJARDINS. 2) When my house was robbed, they have not reimbursed payment our lost, not respond to calls for more than a year.

Walk to Work!!!

by mom of 5 on Sep 9, 2015

Based on all the reviews I've read on here, it looks like I may need a lawyer... The front end of my car was damaged by someone backing up into it at full tilt on Saturday and is not driveable in any way. Its now Wednesday and I'm still waiting for a rental. I still haven't been able to speak with my adjuster because she won't answer her phone or return my 7 messages. I spoke with someone in customer service who told me that it's my problem and I need to sort out a rental on my own time and cost. Went so far as to say that they think I'm at fault (despite the police report) and won't even go over my policy with me until they determine otherwise. I told them that I'm at risk for losing my job because I can't walk to work as it's a 40 minute drive and I'm 6 months pregnant with a high risk pregnancy and my husband has to walk 2 hours to get to work but that didn't seem to even be acknowledged. I've been with Desjardins for over 5 years and I honestly expected better treatment than this.

If you have a good driving record in AB, you should pay around $110/month (women - $105/month and men - $113/month). Do you overpay? Get an Alberta car insurance quote to start saving.

Ripping my hair out

Was involved in an accident in February. My car was deemed a total loss. It took 5 MONTHS to get a copy of my police report. I sent the docs needed to get it but they seemed to have disappeared and were never seen. So I sent them again. And again. Aaaand again. Finally they got them and my adjustor got my police report. According to the report I was 0% at fault and according to my policy I should be covered since it is not my fault. Right? WRONG!!! So wrong!!!!! My car was being held in storage so my rep called me and said they will only pay 1 cent to the towing company. So I was advised by my adjustor to scrap the car and use that for a payment. So I did as I was told and have my authorization to the towing co. Fast forward 5 months, I am now being penalized for following my adjustor's instructions. They are going to shave off 30% of total value of my car. I argued and argued with her, and got it down to 20%. I argued again that I only did what she told me to do. She put me on a long hold and came back and said that they will give me back the full cost of my car at the time of the accident. Great. Now I'm fighting tooth and nail for them to pay for my rental. According to my policy they will pay for a rental up to 2 days after I receive my settlement offer. Well I just received my offer 2 days ago and the rental was returned MONTHS ago.....and they are only willing to pay less than half of that. Awaiting a call from manager at this point. It's taken 6 months to get this resolved. This is ridiculous. Stay away. Save your nerves.

Bad experience

I will never recommend this insurance company to anyone.
Bad customer service and generally very poor services compared the value you're paying !
Also when I wanted to cancel my contract with them, they were very rude and kept transferring my call from one person to the other. Eventually they ripped off an extra 350 dollars in addition to the cancellation fee. Unbelievable!

Hit and run

by Nothappy on Feb 12, 2015

My car was hit and run, after contacting the police I call Desjardins to start a claim. The first Rep I talked with told me that this was not covered under my police, out of fear of having my rates increased I did not file a claim. After learning my car should be a write off I filed a claim. The clams office called me 3 days after I submitted my claim at the end of her day, witch in Alberta is 2PM, she did not leave me a claims number. I called her back after receiving the voice mail and left a message. I waited the one businesses day NO phone call, I waited a SECOND business day NO phone call. I called back and left another message. I waited the one businesses day NO phone call, I called again and left another message. NO phone call. I called a 4th time, she answered the phone. I INTRODUCED MYSELF told her I was not given a claims number, and described the situation. Her words were "Oh your the Hit and Run girl, ya that wont be covered under your policy". I told her I have a name. I could go into more detail but basically she was INCREDIBLY RUDE, she didn't look up my information till I ASKED her too. I contacted there customer complaints department and told them my situation, SAME THING, they didn't care!!!!

To sum up, don't have insurance with this company. they Lack compassion, understanding and the ability to look at individual situations.
To rewrite the words of there president in the truth,
WE will not be there when the unexpected happens, you will not get to rest assured, we will not be there for you today the day of your accident, and diffidently not tomorrow.

Worst Insurance Ever

by lynn on Jul 7, 2014

I wish i saw the reviews for this company before insuring my car with them. I have only been insured for 3 months and within 3 months they have already screwed up payments and even cancelled my policy for no apparent reason. Ive gotten pulled over too but luckily that officer did not ask for insurance because how much trouble would i have gotten into if i was not covered. Ive brought this to the attention to someone from Dejardins and their excuse was, oh yes, even if it was cancelled you would still be insured.

They charged me fees on 3 occasions that were their fault and they are only willing to "WAIVE" back one fee. How is it considered a waive when you are really just fixing the mistake that YOU made. Waiving would be that theres a fee that was made in MY mistake and you are kind enough to waive it off as a one time thing.

Now my credit score is getting lower and lower because I requested an account change because I provided an empty account and they keep taking money out of this account after STATING THERE IS NO MONEY TO TAKE

>Been with these guys for 11 years(since I was a new driver/teen). At the time they were known as Certas Direct, they were bought out by Desjardins.
>At first I was getting a great rate when they were Certas. I think I was paying 150$/mth. and it even got as low as 110$/mth. when I switched vehicles.
>When I noticed things were getting weird was when Desjardins randomly sent me an insurance/ownership holder in the mail with a letter saying 'blah blah we own certas, you are our valued customer blah blah'. Not too long after i got my very first speeding ticket, and then one more later that year. When my policy was renewed my rate went from 110$/mth to 200$/mth. While I take full responsibility for my tickets, i dont think i should be paying 90$ extra every month for two measly tickets.
>years later i acquired another ticket. it skyrocketed to 275$/mth. Now I am in full panic mode. I called them and said 'listen guys, yes i sped. i get that. but 275$/mth is ridiculous. i am on the brink of selling my car and opting to just use public trans/bike.' they said 'no no no, we will lower it to 250$ a month in 3 months time.' i agreed.
>RECENTLY i got into an accident. it was the other drivers fault but there was no witnesses and the other driver lied on his police report. Because we had 'conflicting stories' the two insurance companies decided to make this a 50/50 split. I was assigned a moron of a service rep. She doesn't care nor take into account anything i say. what she says is what she says. To her there is no other option. its desjardins(gods) word. Get this...I put my car into a shop on a thursday, my agent said she'd call me later that night to talk about it. no call. next day, no call. i call her. voicemail. weekend goes by. no call. i call her, leave new voicemail, she calls me back. tells me three things 'just waiting for the quote from the mechanic and i will call you back. tuesday comes. no call. weds. no call. thurs no call. i call in. voicemail again. call mechanic shop and say 'what the hell is going on with my car?' apparntly they took it apart on tuesday and assessed everything and been waiting for my agent to call. i get angry and call my agent. voicemail. 'yea, my car has been in the shop since thursday and you havent been keeping me up to date and the quote has been ready since tuesday and now its thursday...7 days. i have kids and no vehicle. please call me back and take care of this. she calls me 20 minutes later(wow...so if i pull teeth and act like an @$$ they call back?). 'okay, the quote is 2400$, 800$ for parts and 1600$ for labour...' i say 1600 for labour huh? hmmm...its a fender bender. im not a moron. they are taking you for a run. 'oh no sir they are approved by us. they know what they are doing'. oh okay, so you are telling me it takes 21 hours to put on a front fender, a new bumper and a light? i can get that done myself in 4 hours. 2 hours with a buddy. now she is all silent and being cold. i say 'listen, you arent helping me at all. im getting royally screwed. i want to take my 50% of the money for the repair and do it myself because this is bull. well sir 50% of 2400 is 1200...but then we have to device 1200 by 2...which is 600...so you get 600. So let me get this right. the damage costs 2400...its a 50/50 accident so that means you pay 1200...but you are doing 50% of the 50% i am entitled too? so 600 out of 2400. so basically thats 75/25%. no sir you dont understand. no no i undestand perfectly, im getting SCREWED.

listen guys, do not deal with these guys ever. horrible horrible horrible customer care. they are so desensitized to your questions and concerns. they Do NOT CARE. i have been dealing with these guys for a long time and the only thing keeping me with them is the fact that my tickets and 50/50 accident cannot get me a good quote anywhere for the next 3 years. dont ever go with desjardins no matter how good the quote looks.

AAAGGGGHHHHHH!!!

I had deer collision 12 days after purchasing my new car. Desjardin think they will repair the car even tho the damage is over 60% of the value of the car. Had to fight with them to get second estimate, claims people are rude, claim no value now that all my car warranties are voided, and they told me they already had their numbers so it didn't matter where I took it for a second opinion, they wouldn't look at the estimate. There is even frame damage that they want to repair.
Still fighting but that's the way I intend to go down. I paid for replacement value, and I will go to court instead of driving the hunk of junk if that's what they think.
Do yourself a favour and find another insurer.
