Worst Representative

by Jassie on Jul 19, 2020

My car was gone due to hail damage, without my fault! They harass me, they simply ignore our calls and don't ever reply to you back for our claim. The worst experience with the adjuster, she didn't even bother to call you back or reply to your email. I am waiting for last month with no response ever.

Poor service, not reliable

by Ray on Oct 21, 2022
1 out of 5 stars

I had two experiences with this company and both times disappointed.
Their advisors have no knowledge, and no experience, don't answer promptly to communications, try to cut the corners and don't cover the claim cost. The first claim took 5 months to finally a manager was contacted to resolve the issue partially. The claim adjuster didn't send the request to the manager and after 3 times of asking, finally found that she lied to me and never escalated my case!
They even don't trust their own appraisers and decline his claim estimate and try to do the minimum. They need a full overall to stay in business. I am leaving them because after years of paying high premiums when I had two claims both times found my money was wasted.
You will find their true nature when you need them.

Horrible Service

by Rmoore on Jul 4, 2022

If the people who worked for me treated our customers like Desjardins... We would be out of business. How hard can it be to return a call or email with an update on a no-fault claim?
It will be almost a month with no information.
The helpline just refers me back to an adjuster. Who promised to return calls in 5 business days but leaves no message and send no emails.
I got a call from the Rental Company to return the loaner the next day but nothing from Desjardins

Totally Unorganized

by gigijojo on Jan 27, 2022
1 out of 5 stars

After a no-fault accident, things went really well to the point where the body shop manager was surprised how well it was going as they were going to repair my car.
There was quite a delay due to parts not coming in and once repaired they realized that the harness wires had burned through and decided to write the car off.
That's where things started to unravel and it would take a couple of pages to explain what went on after that point.
Our claims advisor was nowhere to be found, nobody in the company knew where she was and why she wasn't getting back to us. When I talked to maybe the 10th person over a week's time, she tried to find out what happened to her claims advisor by contacting the claims advisors manager but could not get a hold of them either.
I found a number with DesJardins that was your last straw phone number that looks into the situation and tries to help you. Had to leave a message there also and no one ever got back to me.
I believe people working from home is a huge part of this problem but this company is so unorganized it's very hard to believe any company can run like this.
I am retired so the time is there to make at least 20 phone calls over a two-week timeframe and still no answers. Imagine somebody that is working full-time and has a busy life, the nightmare would be much worse than what I have now through.

TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE

by Denise on Oct 23, 2020
1.5 out of 5 stars

I was a client of State Farm Insurance for 15 years, where the customer service was personal and excellent. Desjardins bought out State Farm, a very bad move for State Farm clients as I have discovered. On June 13, 2020 my vehicle was caught in a flash flood during a major hail and rain storm in Calgary. As a consequence, my vehicle's engine was flooded. Because there was no help to be had, I called AMA, who towed my vehicle in the middle of the night to my trusted auto repair shop. After calling for a week, I was finally able to reach Desjardins. The adjuster told me that my certified repair shop was not on the Desjardins list so the Adjuster insisted on towing the vehicle to a body shop even though there was no body damage. (Lie #1 - the customer can have the vehicle towed to any trusted garage). What I needed was a mechanic. I researched and learned that indeed my vehicle was repairable. After a month, a Desjardins inspector finally showed up, took two minutes to look at the vehicle and insisted it was not repairable so he had the vehicle towed to an auction company. Desjardins made me a ridiculously low offer, which I refused. Finally, they offered a bit more which I again refused. My research told me that the vehicle was worth much more than they were offering and it was repairable. I sent my research to the Adjuster who finally made a decent offer. I did not sign off immediately because I wanted to conduct more research regarding the potential of repairing the vehicle. Yes, it was repairable. The Adjuster lost patience with me stating that she needed to close the file immediately and if I didn't settle I would get nothing (Lie #2 - upon calling the Insurance Bureau of Canada I was informed that I had 2 years to settle the claim). Finally, after 4 months, I accepted Desjardins' offer because they refused to let me buy out the vehicle, forcing me to have to bid on it in an auction. In the meantime, without notifying me, Desjardins notified the Alberta government that the vehicle was deemed unrepairable and that it could never be considered drivable (Lie #3). There was no body damage so it could definitely be deemed as salvage which would have allowed me to repair it and drive it again. This seemed to be a spiteful move on the part of the Adjuster. During the 4 months of back and forth with Desjardins, I asked to speak to a supervisor but no one ever called me. My broker was unable to negotiate for me as, unlike State Farm, Desjardins does not allow brokers to speak on behalf of their clients. I have now lost my trusted vehicle and must buy another one even though my settlement would have been enough to repair the vehicle. Never, never trust Desjardins. I feel that Desjardins merely wanted to pay me out as cheaply as possible just to get rid of me. As a client, I had no value to them.

Refusing to repair car

by John on Oct 5, 2020
1 out of 5 stars

My vehicle got into an accident a month ago, they are still not approving my vehicle to be repaired to its full state. Horrible customer service and management, trying to find excuses not to repair the vehicle. They try their best to cheap out on the parts on the vehicle. The highest quote for an insurance company that doesn't care about your safety. All they want is to make money of you when you get in an accident good luck getting your car repaired as they give you a hard time...

Did you know that on average Ontario drivers with good driving records pay $1,805/year in auto insurance? Is your insurance rate higher? Get a free car insurance quote and start saving today.

Took to long

I'm still waiting for an adjuster comes to look at my vehicle after it was turned and no one gets back to me! It is been 2 weeks now. I'm left with no vehicle as it is not drivable. The worst customer service I've ever experienced!

Disgusting service

by Disgusting service on Apr 29, 2020

I was stopped for a school bus in November and a car rear-ended me. Took my truck to the body shop they recommend, I specifically requested they check for frame damage. However, they were too lazy to remove the rear bumper to check the frame. The quote they submitted to Desjardins insurance was approved but some parts were not available. My insurance adjuster was unable from mid-November until January 6. So finally I picked up my untouched truck and took it home. Removed the bumper to find the frame was indeed damaged. The next day took back to the body shop for more pictures, which they reluctantly did. Then I sent my own pictures to insurance. Because parts were not available all they offered was the price of new parts and that’s all. So I took it to another certified body shop that actually looked at the frame damage. They did up a quote to fix everything, however, they still can get some parts. So I did a third quote, frame repair, parts and a fabrication shop to make the parts that were unavailable. Now my adjuster was unreachable for 4 weeks. Finally, they sent an appraiser at the end of March. He said there was rust on my truck so they could replace it with a rusty used bumper. He did actually locate a bumper and hitch 2000 km away in Nova Scotia. I ordered the part and had it shipped. Now I was starting to lose patients with this whole performance so back to the second body shop for a new quote using the used parts. The new quote was $300 more than the original quote, this one included the frame repair. After a week or so the appraiser calls the body shop and basically yelled at them that they charge too much and the quote was too much. The quote was $3,800 to fix it, after this, I got feed up informed the body shop to proceed with the repair and bill me directly. The insurance appraiser sent an offer of $1,400 after another 2 weeks of waiting. They sent a big email patting themselves on the back about coming to a deal. The only problem is it’s off by $2,400. So I stopped contacting the insurance company and started talking to a lawyer. We are almost in May now, so 5 1/2 months and my no-fault accident cost me over $2,400 and I haven’t driven my truck since November. I was with them for about 20 years with no claims, this was my first one. So do not give your business to these crooks. They will try to screw you. They definitely don’t deserve any stars.

Extremely poor service

by Insurdud on Jul 16, 2023
1 out of 5 stars

Where to begin? Let’s just start off with, don’t just go to the cheapest place you find. Had a claim that took almost 2 years to finish.
There’s just always and I mean always no answers for anything. It’s always talking to this person and they say talk to this person and then they’re on holiday for 6 weeks. I would give this company a zero-star rating if that was an option. If you reading this trying to decide what insurance company to use, please stop reading and go to the next one on the list or you will regret it.

6+ Month And Counting

by Tom on Aug 20, 2022

Adjuster is useless, it felt like pushing rope to get my car repaired after no fault accident. The “section manager” attempted to use her title to intimidate me. The complainant department intentionally stalls the complaint process. Complete waste of money and most exhausting process ever.
