I have been with Allstate for over 15 years, gradually the rates went up and up. I was never ever contacted by my insurance agent, they just don't care. I wanted insurance for a summer trailer which I had to have and the agent I spoke to was rude and told me I had to wait for her supervisor (yes the original agent on my accounts) to return from vacation. Well this did not sit well with me. I contacted another company and had the insurance I wanted the same day, and a lot cheaper. I also had my car insurance with them and every year it went up and up, when I received my recent renewal it went up $500.00, I have never made a claim on either policy I had with them, and no help from my agent. I went with the company that I now have my home insurance, I saved over $700 a year. I do not recommend them.
They are cheaters. They committed me 40 dollars monthly discount on my car insurance when I bring home them to them. I purchased car insurance from them and after 6 months I ask for home insurance quote they quoted me double for home insurance and said now you are entitled for 40 discount.
Secondly they did not reimbursed me for damaged items during accident. I provided receipt but they said these items are not covered and items were my cell phone. They are cheaters.
Did you know that on average Ontario drivers with good driving records pay $1,805/year in auto insurance? Is your insurance rate higher? Get a free car insurance quote and start saving today.
I had a no-fault accident. The guy who hit me from behind is also insured with Allstate. I am entitled to $1500 of loaner vehicle coverage. That comes to approximately 26 days rental vehicle (as per Allstate themselves). Allstate is denying to pay for my loaner vehicle for more than 17 days!! The worst part was the Adjuster was so abusive and made me feel as if I was cheating. It was insulting. If we take out weekends from 17 days, then what is left is 13 working days for body shop. There is hardly any body shop that repairs a damaged vehicle in 13 days guaranteed. I humbly requested her to consider my situation but just abuse from the other side...avoid Allstate if possible. My 2cents.
After being with a different insurance company for years, we decided to move our auto and home insurance to AllState as they had very competitive prices. After we switched the trouble began. It took weeks to receive our policy and pink slips for the cars in the mail, and because I was travelling I needed that slip so I had to travel out of my way to the AllState office to pick up the slip. A few months later a questionnaire was sent to us and at that time we decided to add my partner (who has his own car insurnace with another company) as an occassional driver as he sometimes drives my car. We provided the requested information (name and driver's licence number) and sent the form back via mail. Fast forward to now (approx. 90 days later) and it is time for our 6 month renewal. 10 days before the policy was due to expire we still have not received our renewal documents. We called to request them be sent and our representative no longer works for the company, and our policy it seems had just been forgotten about. At this time we requested to know what the cost would be and for our renewal documents to be sent immediately. Our cost increased nearly $300 from the last time we paid! All they stated was "regular cost increase." We also wanted to ensure that my boyfriend had been added on and the lady we spoke to said that would be processed right away. Several days later we received an email from the same lady requesting my boyfriend's insurance company and policy number. This information had never been requested from us before and should not have an effect on him being added as an occassional driver. We have called the office several times and left messages for this lady to call us back and we have heard nothing. It is now 3 days before our policy expires and we have switched to another provider. The customer service (or lack there of) is absolutely ridiculous. We have been given the run around for the entire 6 months we have been with AllState. I work in customer service and if myself or my staff treated customers paying the company money this poory you can be sure that we would no longer be employed with the company. I will be warning my friends, family and anyone I come in contact with to never deal with AllState and if I could have rated them a 0 I certainly would have.
I transferred my business to Allstate several years ago as there prices were competitive and the customer service, at the time, was great. I just received a letter in the mail telling me that due to a "recent" claim, both my comprehensive and my collision deductibles were being increased to $500, they were down to $300.
When I called to inquire about this "recent" claim, I found out it was for a windshield replacement in early 2015....not sure about anyone else but that is not recent in my books!
Secondly I asked why my policy was even being affected as I have had windshield replacements done in the past with other companies and as long as it's the first replacement, there is no ding to the insurance.
Upon speaking with a representative, after waiting on hold for 20 minutes, she informed me that she could not access my file and that I should speak to my Rep. She then proceeded to ask me whether I knew my rep and when I told her that I had no idea as I had never been contacted by one, she laughed at me and said "You don't know who your rep is?!" in a condescending way.........how unprofessional is that?!
I am now looking for a new insurance company for my upcoming renewal!!!
If you have a good driving record in AB, you should pay around $110/month (women - $105/month and men - $113/month). Do you overpay? Get an Alberta car insurance quote to start saving.
I had my first accident on nov 17/2014 and they finally came back to me with an offer on Jan 15/2015, They took the car back and now I have no vehicle and no payout (jan 22). As soon as this is settled, I will be looking for another instance company.
I had td insurance and they where great they covered everything. I switched with them because they rose my insurance so I went with all state cause they were charging less and my family said that they were good.
I was in a accident that was not my fault and I was injured. They never called me to tell me that I have a deductible I was never told any information. When I called the customer line they were no help and just gave me more numbers to call. So far this experience with this company is pathetic. I will not receded them to anyone. Never had so much problems with an insurance company. As well they kept taking more money out of my account each month when I talked to them they said my insurance had rose.
my vehicle was involved in a fire well driving in northern ontario, as a result the car was a wright off. After being told to stay in the area at a motel I called after two days and asked what was going and they apologize and told me that I could return home after waiting almost 2 weeks for the claim adjuster to actually process it he came back with an offer that was 75% the value of the vehicle. I called an appraiser that I knew and he confirmed with me that in fact I was being underpaid for the value of the vehicle, I spoke with the adjuster and told him this, his supervisor then called me and talked to me and said he would speak with the adjuster and get back to me. After 5 hours the adjuster got back to me and said the offer was final with no explanation. On top of this I opted out of a car rental to save money and ended up receiving $400 in total for two days rent in a motel, a bus rental and two weeks of not taking a rental which should of been an extra $25 a day. By my calculation the rental alone was $350. Anyways great company till you make a claim, but then again there in the business of making money and not giving any out!
I was with allstate for one year, thye had a great quote for me so I went with them. When it came time for renewal and having had no claims or tickets I was expecting a lower price. When I got my renewal it had gone up $500 for the year. I was not impressed. I called the 1800 line and spoke to a rep and he was as confused as I was and said I had even gone up a grid so it should have went down and told me to call my local office. I called the local office and again the girl had no idea why the pricing was the way it was and proceeded to tell me I could get discounts if I wanted tennants insurance etc.. Why would I want to pay more for other services to lower my auto insurance? I called another company and was quote $600 less, thankfully. Needless to say I will not be using, nor recommending allstate to anyone.

I was at an auto show and answered a questionnaire on an iPad about my then current insurance company. An agent contacted me shortly after and quoted me a rate that was much lower, so I switched over. I was also offered first accident forgiveness, among other things and was told that I had a traffic ticket that could be waived to get this stellar package. Low and behold, I had an accident 4 days later that was a total loss. Magically, I was not entitled to the accident forgiveness due to a traffic ticket that was on my record (yes, the one that was waived). I then realized that I was the victim of the old bate-and-switch sales tactic (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bait-and-switch). I was appalled. For the next two and a half months, I went through pure hell trying to get my claim paid out. I brought this to the attention of the "manager" and was only made to feel like an a-hole in the end. She was quite a good debater and it was then that I realized there was nothing I could do and would never win this argument. Come my one year renewal, I was terminated from the policy with a balance owing that I was never even made aware of! Not once did they even make the slightest attempt to call my phone number that was in their system. This prompted them to send letters to my old address (I strictly remember updating them with my new one) and finally sending me to a collection agency. Dealing with Allstate was the absolute WORST experience I have ever had with ANY company in my 38 years of existing on this planet. Do yourself a favour and stay away from these shysters.
