Good luck

I was in a car accident & was injured, they refused to pay for my Physiotherapy. I’ve been in an accident before with another company & they covered my Physio expenses for the future also. Definitely, way better car insurance companies out there!

WORST INSURANCE COMPANY

by WES on May 3, 2019
1 out of 5 stars

I hope this message can help as many people as possible know that this company will find any excuse not to ever fix your car and pay the least possible amount. There was a big piece of metal that doesn't fit under the car in the middle of the highway. This piece hit the center of my car and swerved to the right side of the car where I drove over it with both my tires. When I went out, my foglight was broken, the car was scratched from the front center to the right side and all the way to the back. When they went to inspect, they refused to fix the foglight because it looked "Dirty" and refused to fix the scratches because they looked "Dirty" and ended up paying only 106$ to change my tires that were used only 1 winter! They refuse to believe any damages were caused by that incident, basically telling me I'm a liar indirectly. Now I have to pay 450$ extra from my pocket to fix all these problems that were caused by the metal piece in the middle of the highway. They did nothing for me, didn't even compromise and asked me to return my rental car before my car even gets ready or marking the claim as complete. I didn't even get the 106$ yet! Now I have no car, no check from them, spending more on uber, waiting to figure out what will happen to my car after these damages. Don't use their insurance. Overpriced and won't cover you.

Auto Claim

My son was T-boned at an intersection when he had a green turning arrow that turned yellow on his way through the intersection. The Third Party claimed she had a green light and two vehicles went through the intersection before she entered. Vehicles could have gone through the intersection from my sons side where he had a left turning arrow and the through traffic had a full green to proceed straight, however, on the Third Party side of the intersection all lights were RED!!! The car in front of the Third Party turned onto the ramp before the intersection and did not proceed through the intersection. The Third Party and witness were sitting privately together in the witness vehicle before the RCMP took the witness statement and this was confirmed by Intact. The witness stated that the Third Party had a full green light HOWEVER Intact sent me an email stating the witness stated to Intact "he looked at the traffic light AFTER he heard the accident noise and realized what happened in front of him". My sons statement to the RCMP was he had a green arrow that turned yellow on his way through the intersection, therefore by the time the accident happened and the witness realizing what just happened in front of him and looked at the light after, enough time had passed for the light to turn green on the Third Party side. The witness couldn't confirm the Third Party statement about two vehicles going through the intersection before her. Intact confirming the witness look at the light after the accident and the witness couldn't confirm the Third Party statement about the two vehicles and Intact didn't even ask questions to the Third Party about where the two vehicles were which she was talking about, Intact knowing the car in front of the Third Party turned onto the ramp before the intersection. Even with this evidence and more not explained here, Intact found my son fully responsible for the accident.

Did you know that on average Ontario drivers with good driving records pay $1,805/year in auto insurance? Is your insurance rate higher? Get a free car insurance quote and start saving today.

Avoid at all cost

1: Made me choose a garage without suggesting one or explaining to me that if I choose a garage and have issues with the repairs, they will not be helping me. Now over 1000$ of additional damage because of bad repairs, they won't do anything for me. 2: a year later, try to cut my insurance because I moved out of province, won't understand that the camper van stays parked where it always has been, stays plated Quebec and won't be driven outside of there. Lady refused to transfer me to her supervisor. I had to call another office and then another office where they finally transferred me.

GOODBYE INTACT.

WOW... INTACT, you might want to look at these reviews. My experience with CDI was wonderful (probably because I made one windshield claim 8 yrs ago). When Belairdirect took over, the rates began to inflate & now you guys have become the most expensive private insurance company. Your loyalty to long term customers obviously doesn’t exist. This past year (2018) I received my policy on my vehicle & the increase of 10% WAS NOT a nice surprise, the fact that you took away my windshield coverage was totally unacceptable. In 15+ years of coverage, we have had 2 claims on windshields & that’s it. This is how this company rewards the GOOD DRIVERS. They are willing to give up two auto policies & a home insurance policy for a possible but not yet $900 windshield replacement. Fingers crossed ...no stone cracks yet.

Intact scam

A truck backed into me a month ago. I am insured two ways, so covered in the event of any collision. I was deemed 0% responsible for the accident - had my car deemed a total loss, then told I could not have a rental car as the fine print on the contract (which is nowhere on the client's contract by the way) states that as of the day they give you their (lowball) offer on your total loss vehicle, they no longer cover car rental fees. I was able to drive my car after the accident and did so until they told me that in order to prepare the check for the total loss, they had to be in possession of my car. So I had to let them tow away my car - with no rental and a wait to get my check. HOW THE HELL AM I SUPPOSED TO SHOP AROUND FOR ANOTHER CAR WITH NO RENTAL AND NO CHECK?? I pay for the F.A.Q 21a, which is supposed to cover my replacement fees (rental etc.) for up to 2125$ or 75$ a day. They refuse to honour my contract based on fine print details that I do not have anywhere on my contract. Did I mention that I was insured both ways and deemed 0% responsible for my accident? These guys are warped...

If you have a good driving record in AB, you should pay around $110/month (women - $105/month and men - $113/month). Do you overpay? Get an Alberta car insurance quote to start saving.

Poor company policies.

Tried insuring with them, no claims in over fifty years. A lady hits me when I’m legally parked in a parking lot, not even in my car and they wouldn’t sell me a policy because I had a claim that wasn’t my fault and they said: apply again in six years. You’d think a person like me with no claims except one that wasn’t my fault would be the kind of client they would die to have. They're a joke in my opinion. Thank you Steve.

Atrocious claims processing

by Fedupwithinsurancecos on Jul 12, 2018

Filed a claim for a stolen vehicle that was taken from the shop where we had left it for repairs. Because the thief was known to both the repair shop and us, Intact told us we had a responsibility to work with local police service to recover the vehicle. Police service don't have the time or inclination to chase down stolen vehicles. In addition, the thief was a known violent offender and even if we knew how to find him, we weren't prepared to confront him and put ourselves in harm's way. To add insult to injury, subsequent to the theft, someone registered an illegal lien in our name against the vehicle. At that point, Intact claimed it had become a civil matter and they would no longer be working a theft claim but they refused to answer our questions about what conditions needed to be met to reinstate the theft claim. We ended up having to hire a lawyer to obtain court orders to remove the lien which was a long and nightmarish process costing us thousands of dollars. Now Intact tells us they know where the vehicle is as the title was transferred and it was sold (illegally) at auction. They can't tell us the new owner or location due to privacy laws but told us we must now attempt to recover it from the new owner. More court orders, more out-of-pocket expenses and a new, supposedly innocent, owner filing a countersuit. 16 months later Intact determined we had done enough and they paid out. But we lost considerable value over that time period as the vehicle market had declined with local economic conditions. We were also forced to pay the legal costs under the new owner's countersuit and we had no recourse to recover any of our legal expenses. The most ludicrous, frustrating, unethical, and aggravating approach to handling a legitimate claim that I have ever experienced. STAY AWAY!

Business in bad faith

We get insurance to have peace of mind when the unfortunate happens. Well, Intact screwed me completely. They denied my claim because the car was insured under me while the car was registered under my wife. I explained to the agent that I had mentioned this to the broker when I was insuring the car. Intact took no responsibility and said that it was mentioned in the file that the car was registered under my wife, therefore they would not cover the claim. I then spoke to the broker and of course, they also denied responsibility and I'm down 5k. Intact also denied to cover any towing and rental fees which was part of the contract, and ending up costing another thousand dollars only because Intact and the broker couldn't communicate properly and made me keep the rental an extra week, while I also paid for my car's impound cost!! I'm fortunate enough to be able to afford the expenses on my own, but if you do plan on going with Intact, make sure to specify all the specs about your car and the exact amount of KM you will be doing per year, it would be a shame if tell them you do 15 000 annually and end up 15 001 and your claim is denied!

Scammers

Insurance is meant for the unfortunate event of an accident. If premiums are paid coverage is expected! We had a vehicle involved in an accident that incurred $3k in damages. Car was still worth $11K. Intact chose to write the vehicle off despite the damages being very repairable! We were using there GPS modules that tracked driving habits. With these GPS units we were getting regular reports showing how the drivers in our house were doing. As for the car they wrote off! We were still receiving reports months after the car was supposed to be in the scrap yard! Seems that someone at Intact perpetrated fraud by writing the vehicle off, then buying it at scrap value and repairing it for road use.
