Fraudulent???

by Maestrom on May 24, 2023
1 out of 5 stars

I feel this company sold me policy in bad faith. I am actually in the process of filing a BCFSA claim. They keep telling me they just need a supervisor to sign off on my claim, then say they need information I have already sent multiple times. Multiple requests by phone and email to speak with a supervisor have not been addressed. If you are in a similar situation, please file a claim with the BCFSA. The more people that complain, the more chance this company will be investigated. I would give zero stars if your site would let me.

WORST INSURANCE COMPANY

by Shubham on Mar 9, 2021
1 out of 5 stars

I have an ongoing auto claim with Intact Insurance. Their processes are super slow and I have had the worst experience ever. I am being delayed for more than 2.5 months for my total loss vehicle cheque. They didn't even pay the car rentals and they charged me $2000 on my credit card. I don't recommend anyone the get insurance from this company. They want you to die for the money that you deserve. Upon talking to the higher officers as well you get no response and no time limits. Instead, they suggest you sue the company if you want compensation for the losses you are going through.

Negative rating always. I have also asked a few of my friends to change their insurance company. No one pays to get harassed or get mental depression when you are in a bad situation already cause of the accident.

Waiting for weeks

by Christa Anders on Aug 1, 2019
1 out of 5 stars

Was in an accident, sent my vehicle to Intact’s preferred shop. This experience has been atrocious! My car sat for a week untouched, my estimate sat for another week untouched. The third week has passed, repairs have not even been started. Have complained to numerous people at Intact, all they do is offer apologies and NEVER return phone calls. You are way better off else where! You will regret it if you ever have to rely on them.

Did you know that on average Ontario drivers with good driving records pay $1,805/year in auto insurance? Is your insurance rate higher? Get a free car insurance quote and start saving today.

Auto Claim

by SCREWED BY INTACT on Apr 8, 2019
1 out of 5 stars

My son was T-boned at an intersection when he had a green turning arrow that turned yellow on his way through the intersection. The Third Party claimed she had a green light and two vehicles went through the intersection before she entered. Vehicles could have gone through the intersection from my sons side where he had a left turning arrow and the through traffic had a full green to proceed straight, however, on the Third Party side of the intersection all lights were RED!!! The car in front of the Third Party turned onto the ramp before the intersection and did not proceed through the intersection. The Third Party and witness were sitting privately together in the witness vehicle before the RCMP took the witness statement and this was confirmed by Intact. The witness stated that the Third Party had a full green light HOWEVER Intact sent me an email stating the witness stated to Intact "he looked at the traffic light AFTER he heard the accident noise and realized what happened in front of him". My sons statement to the RCMP was he had a green arrow that turned yellow on his way through the intersection, therefore by the time the accident happened and the witness realizing what just happened in front of him and looked at the light after, enough time had passed for the light to turn green on the Third Party side. The witness couldn't confirm the Third Party statement about two vehicles going through the intersection before her. Intact confirming the witness look at the light after the accident and the witness couldn't confirm the Third Party statement about the two vehicles and Intact didn't even ask questions to the Third Party about where the two vehicles were which she was talking about, Intact knowing the car in front of the Third Party turned onto the ramp before the intersection. Even with this evidence and more not explained here, Intact found my son fully responsible for the accident.

Worst Customer Service

by kristina_e on Nov 29, 2018

They approved my windshield claim four months ago and all of a sudden called me up and left a message saying they decided they won't be paying for it. It turns out that the adjuster that approved the claim made a mistake and it shouldn't have been approved in the first place. That's not my problem, Intact. It's yours. Meanwhile, the company that completed the APPROVED claim has been out the almost $500 for four months. And now, conveniently, the request I made to speak to a supervisor never got passed on. So I call back 48-hours later and now they are all "in a meeting". Not enjoying getting the run-around. I want this resolved.

It is the worst app ever!

by albert on Mar 22, 2018
1 out of 5 stars

I will comment in my experience and you will judge by yourself. I have this app since November 2017. Problems started right away because the app was picking and choosing the trips that it wanted to judge. I complain and nothing good came out of it. And that has been an ongoing issue, never fixed. The worst happened this week. I went to VOLUNTEER for an Association in one casino in Calgary. When I came back, late at night, the app took 10% OFF my discount because I drove during a "dangerous" time of the day (from 12 AM to 4 AM) and I shouldn't!!! Are they saying that we shouldn't volunteer anymore, at that time? It said that I should be extra cautious. The average speed on my route was 69 km/h, and I was driven on Deerfoot and Stoney Trail most of the time. Do I need to be more cautious than that? Did the app praise me because of my cautious driving? There wasn't ANYBODY OR ANYTHING surrounding my car. Did the app notice? They said that I needed to rest before this trip. I had rested the entire afternoon before I went volunteering as the volunteering occurred from 6:45 PM to 3:15 AM. Did the app know that? How is it possible that they judge you just because of TIME OF THE DAY?? Then, when you try to contact them, they just come with "workbook" messages that do not address your situation at all. If you insist, they send you to your insurance broker and, voilá!! Here is the barrier that they want to put up between you and them, so you lose your power!! People are just unprepared to handle the situations and they should be ashamed of calling themselves customer services. Also, I had driven so far 452 km. Out of this 452 km only 13,6 km where during the "bad hours". Still, they took off 10%, which is completely out of proportion, do your math! Furthermore, they pick the trips they want to judge. How do I know that? Well, they had used the return from the casino, but there is no mention of the trips towards the casino!!! Also, I had driven more than 2,000 km since November 2017, but only 452 were marked down. Buyers, be aware!! These are a scheme. Don't fall for it. I have to stay on, otherwise, they won't give me back my discount! And they won't give back the 10% off because, according to them, I have to work for it! For something that they shouldn't have taken in the first place!! My recommendation is: Don't be fooled and do not get into this trap.

If you have a good driving record in AB, you should pay around $110/month (women - $105/month and men - $113/month). Do you overpay? Get an Alberta car insurance quote to start saving.

NEVER EVER GO THERE

by Natalie on Dec 22, 2016

NEVER EVER trust them and insure with them!
My car was crashed in a rear-ended collision in October 20, 2016. Intact considered it as a complete loss. But, the only damage was - the trunk does not lock. They contacted me last Friday, December 16, 2016 and said, that my car is written off and they are going to report it in Alberta Transportation; so, I can not drive my car of the roads legally after December 23, 2016. Which means, my child and I have no car in Christmas!!! I asked David M. numerous times to extend that period of time that I can find a replacement. I asked him about a mercy, I said its Christmas. He said he NO ITS YOUR PROBLEMS. So, I was offered a cheque with a very little money that I can definitely can replace my infiniti. Well, having no choice I agreed to take a cheque. He said, that I will get on Monday. But, i did NOT get a check on Monday case it was not ready. I got on Tuesday at 4 pm. I went to the bank and asked to cash that cheque. The Manager from the TD branch with is on 3d st 751 av sw declined it because this cheque might be a fake one. I said that I have all documents from INTACT to prove it and explained the situation briefly. They did not trust me. So, i can get money in December 27. And I have no car from December 24. I cried.
Also, when I came there to insure my car, they gave me a good price and I signed documents. However, one months later they increased my monthly payments by $30 without letting me know. I contacted the office and they said, they found a speed ticked from 1.5 ago. However, I TOLD to the broker that i HAD one ticket in 11 years in 2015 and he said that the price is considering this ticket.

INTACT left my child and me with no car for Christmas! They are not humans!

Terrible company! Do not trust them.

Charged for nothing

by Petrovah on Sep 19, 2016
1 out of 5 stars

Living in Newfoundland Canada we now have taxed insurance. Intact Insurance was charging close to $3000 for full coverage for the year so I found a better deal at one of their competitors. I spoke with them on the phone letting them know I was cancelling and was told that I would have to sign something in order to cancel to which I replied "Okay, I'll make my way down there when I can." Nothing else was said. I have now received a "legal notice" in the mail saying I owe them $279 for non payment up until October 4th. They're charging me, and letting me know they're cancelling my policy, for not paying on a policy I've already told them I was cancelling.

Stay away from this company, unless you intend to never leave them, otherwise they'll find a way to charge every single penny they can.

My Driving Discount

by Concerned mom on Jun 20, 2016
1 out of 5 stars

Intact Insurance monitors your driving for a minimum of 6 months. Based on your driving, they apply a discount. After 5 months of being in the program, my car started to act up. The power steering would kick on, my anti theft light came on and the gages on the dash were fluctuating. I did not feel safe to drive with my car being this way so I went to a mechanic and he did a test and told me that it was the monitoring device for the My Driving Discount that was doing it. I called intact and they sent me a new one. The same thing occurred this time it happened right away. The company said that I have to unenroll from the program because it had not been 6 months or meet their requirements. Overall, they took my data and left me with nothing but a screwed up car. Thanks Intact!

Don't use intact!

Agreat company until you actually need them. Got hit by a car who ran a stop sign (my part of the road didn't have the stop sign) so 100% not my fault. My car was written off and undriveable yet still took 5 days to get a rental car and the only reason I got it was my dad took over and reamed them out for 1/2 hour. Tried to claim that the driver of the other car never spoke to her insurance yet so they couldn't process anything. We called her and she not only had but also her car was already in the shop and had a rental. Took another week for them to give me the money for my car and wanted to take my car from the yard it was at before they paid for it luckily my dad knew the guy who owned the yard and stopped them from removing it. All very shady stuff not to mention because I got into an accident a week before the insurance renewal date I couldn't cancel like i wanted to because it was in the middle of a claim. So stuck with them for another year or have to pay the expensive cancellation fee.
