Terrible Customer Support

by Intact on Jun 14, 2022
1.5 out of 5 stars

I needed to get a letter of experience and it ended up taking 2 whole weeks to get. The first time I called they said they would get it back to me in 1-2 days. After 4 days I called again and they said they had no record of it but they would try again and it would be 1-2 days. Again after 4 days, I called and they still had no record of it.

Intact is the worst company I have ever had to deal with.

by Mike.A on May 25, 2022
1 out of 5 stars

I would tell people if your looking for insurance avoid Intact at all costs. I was in a car crash (NOT MY FAULT) rear-ended and Intact is my insurance company. They have fought me 90 % of the time. Trust me they are NOT there for you when something bad happens to you. They send you to the doctors that are paid by them just for him to say nothing wrong with you. Stop paying for therapy even though everyone says you should still be in therapy. Intact is a criminal organization. They are only in it for the money. If you're hurt in an accident they are not there for you. They will stress you out. Not pay for therapy. Not return your calls. They know every trick in the book. If you put negative feedback on their Facebook page they take it down and block you. Please avoid Intact for your sanity.

4 WEEKS STILL NO APPROVAL & NO URGENCY

by AZEEM BACCHUS on May 16, 2022
1 out of 5 stars

4 weeks ago my car started acting up and I took it into the dealership to find out mice had eaten wires. Initially, I was told 3 to 5 days, fast forward to 4 weeks the dealership sent in a request for 9500. Intact responded 4 weeks later with a 5500 approval. That is a 4000 dollar difference. Now I am told they will be sending out a field appraiser to confirm the damage. Why waste time, do it smartly, and have it done from the beginning. No urgency for the customer worst company I have dealt with for insurance. Please do yourself a favour and don't go through what I have to go through. I have wasted time calling arguing, lost time at work because of no car and breath talking to a company that only cares about the money. I will never recommend this joke of a company to anyone.

Horrible insurance company when it's time to make a claim

by Russ on May 6, 2022
1 out of 5 stars

First, they never did give me clearance to rent a car, just told me I had a 2500.00 budget. But wouldn't tell me how to go about that. I ended up buying a car 2 weeks in after borrowing the shop truck for that time.
Took OVER THREE MONTHS to settle on vehicle theft, they tried to give me a small "repair/cleaning" settlement on a 2500.00 deductible, I would have had 600 to make repairs and cleaning after the deductible. They then forgot that from the start I had told them there was a topper on the truck, and after finally getting photos of the exterior damage and pointing out that the thieves had painted the aluminum rims, and body parts and removed the topper that they would write it off. Then they still insisted I pay the deductible. After speaking with (over many weeks) 5 different people, the last guy said "oh, you shouldn't have to pay the deductible, it was stolen and written off!"
Pray you don't need to make a claim. It was ridiculous how pathetic their communication was.

Worst insurance company

by Lyle perkins on Apr 25, 2022
1 out of 5 stars

I had this insurance company and when I was hit by a possible drunk driver. Basically, it was a hit-and-run accident. I was left stranded without a vehicle when I called the police when the accident occurred and they did their investigation they got back to me and said they found the vehicle responsible I had told them Intact insurance made it so difficult to make a claim even though I was a victim of a crime... The police told me that my insurance company should have gone after the company that hit me but instead, Intact insurance dropped me as a customer and got victimized again this insurance company doesn't care about its customers only their self-interest in denying claims...

Customer service

by Deborah J Loman on Apr 20, 2022

The worst customer experience for both a construction home policy and changing car insurance information
On two separate occasions and both were rude and extremely unprofessional.
I’m in the process of making a change as quickly as possible for better rates and superior professionalism.

Worst insurers EVER!

by Lazzyshot on Apr 18, 2022
1.3 out of 5 stars

The worst insurance experience you will ever experience! I had a front-end collision when someone made a very bad U-turn. The front of my car was damaged and intern my headlight leveller sensors were cracked. They took months to get back to me and when they did they said the cracked sensors had nothing to do with the collision. Their “recommended” auto shop assured is an absolute joke! They didn’t have the proper diagnosis tools available to see what was wrong with my car and I had to bring it to the dealer to figure out which I paid out of pocket. Intact has no backbone no support and they cannot keep their promises of what they call “making your vehicle like new” I will be taking my money elsewhere!

Used to be good but gone quick downhill.

by Fed up customer. on Mar 30, 2022
1 out of 5 stars

Used to be a fantastic insurance company when it was a Canadian operation. But now $ signs rule all their decision.
You have an accident, their phone lines take hours to get in forget about that 30-minute guarantee... Then you get someone who sounds like you just ruined their day by calling... Like isn't that your job, you leave a voicemail, the adjusters NEVER return them, you send an email, good luck... Your body shop calls and calls to get approval, nope wait weeks, oh your vehicle is a write-off, he's our totally not put together document from car listings no one can find on the other side of the country not seen anywhere else to lower your settlement.
Moving at renewal.
The company needs to focus on the basics, they let themselves get dazzled by flashy systems and apps.

Terrible experience

by Angry with Intact on Mar 26, 2022
1 out of 5 stars

I was considered at fault for an accident that I actually had nothing to do with, no damage to my vehicle and the other driver was very much speeding. This “human” decided to drive over a bridge at the same time I pulled up to the curb where I was stopped. In his little brain, he thought the best thing to do was to aim between my vehicle and the vehicle behind me causing both of us to move out of his way so he didn’t hit both of us... I got blamed for him allowing himself to lose control of his vehicle. Intact did nothing to help me out and refused to listen to anything I had to say.
Later on, I found out this is the same guy who put a toddler (yes, a toddler) in the front seat of his vehicle with no seatbelt, got into an accident and killed his kid.
Well done Intact...way to side with a child killer.

If you have a good driving record in AB, you should pay around $110/month (women - $105/month and men - $113/month). Do you overpay? Get an Alberta car insurance quote to start saving.

Be aware

by Stressed out customer on Mar 13, 2022
1 out of 5 stars

My husband and I have had 2 cars and our home was insured with Intact for years. We are seniors, born in 1940 and 1943. We had a car rear-ended years ago and I don't recall a lot of stress with the incident. Little did I know how things have changed. One car we bought specifically for our daughter to transport her special needs son. On February 25, 2022, in the midst of a snowstorm, she found herself in a snowbank. She called me immediately and my first question was to ask if she was hurt. She assured me she was driving slowly and wasn't hurt. The airbag didn't release. She said the only damage seemed to be broken plastic panels at the front right. I asked her to take pictures and to call the number on the insurance card. I assured her the adjustor would get her a rental and it would be a simple repair. Little did I know. She was told that Enterprise would provide a car. When she called Enterprise in Ottawa, she was told they wouldn't have a car back for a week, and then there was a waiting list, so they couldn't say when a car would be available. Upon hearing this I called Intact. After being on hold for 55 minutes, I was told to keep calling Enterprise and I might find one. I politely told the Intact employee that I was paying for a rental car and I expected her to find a car. After waiting on hold for another 20 minutes I was told there weren't any rental cars available in Ottawa. I told her I didn't believe that and a car was critically needed immediately. I Googled Ottawa car rental and Avis was on the top of the list. A quick call and I was told they did have rentals available. He said Intact had been in touch with him and they wanted to pay $50 daily, and he charged $65. For $15 daily they straight out lied to me. The Intact rep suggested that my daughter should use a cab to get around and if she had her receipts she could get reimbursed up to $50 per day. I explained that she had a special needs child and he did not cope with changes to his routine. I told my daughter to pick up a car from Avis. After 10 days she owed Avis $626.47, an expense she couldn't keep up, so I gave her my car and now I am without a car. I have waited up to an hour several times trying to get through to Intact. My broker says there is nothing they can do. I have not had a call from an adjuster. On March 8th I received an unsigned letter from Intact with the name of my adjustor. There was a line telling me to call....(blank space) or to contact her by email at...another blank space. I called a broker, (not my broker) and got put through to the adjustor's voice mail, where I left a message with regard to the critical need for a rental car. No reply. Strangely, the broker was able to get through without a wait. My broker is Broker link, as useless as Intact. I thought perhaps I was being ignored because of my age but after reading reviews posted by others, it is clear that Intact has a history of terrible service. I am far from finished with them but I have no intention of getting shafted. I am fully aware they have staff lawyers. I have lived too long to be intimated by them. Anyone who interferes with the well-being of my special needs grandson will come to regret their actions.
If you are insured with Intact, do yourself a favor and get rid of them before you need them.
