Tried to do an online quote, the system froze up. Fine. Call in. Spend 30 minutes on the phone with a very nice lady who processes the majority of the quote but can't complete it due to me not having my wife drivers license number. Fair enough. Told I can call back in, provide my phone number and re-access the quote, add the missing info and be on our way. This is where the fun starts. I told I can not process the claim without my wife's consent, (wasn't an issue the day before). Get her on the phone, get the consent taken care of and continue processing the claim with her info. Things are going fine when the gentlemen helping me suddenly has computer issues, apologizes profusely and transfers me to a colleague. Complete and utter disaster from there. The woman begins processing the whole thing again including wanting the authorization from my wife. I explain the situation, after 10 minutes on hold she comes back to tell me yup it is fine. I would've been faster calling my wife back. She then proceeds to re-enter or re-confirm all the information that was entered the day previously and by the first guy. I repeatedly ask why this needs to be done and continually get provided a non-sensical answer. She then claims she is again having a problem with their system and can't confirm some of the claims information provided. Been on hold for an additional 20 minutes now. So far day 2 phone call is 1 hour and 15 minutes. Plus the initial 30 minutes and whatever is still to come this process will be over 2 hours. FOR. A. QUOTE. Only reason I'm even still tolerating them is because the initial amount provided (without my wife's info) was substantially less than anywhere else.
Every time I called their customer service line I had to wait over two hours and twice in the middle of speaking with an agent I got disconnected. They have a very poor customer service and to top it off they are much more expensive than competitors. I was their customer for over 20 years and every year I noticed they increased my premiums without any accident claims. Once I called to add a new casual second driver (my daughter) to under my insurance they said my insurance would go up by $1400. That’s when I decided to shop around. I’m glad that I did cause my insurance actually went down with the competitors. Don’t waste your time or money with them.
If you have a good driving record in AB, you should pay around $110/month (women - $105/month and men - $113/month). Do you overpay? Get an Alberta car insurance quote to start saving.
I have been trying for 2 days to get a car insured after my car was deemed a total write off by TD. Hours wait on the phone to be told that their system is down and they can’t access my files or do anything. My claim was passed around to several adjusters and someone in Toronto finally got in touch with me. The settlement was fair but I really just wanted my car fixed as can’t replace what I lost in the quality of the car. I dread the personal injury aspect now. Likely need to lawyer up. I’ve had insurance with them for houses and cars for 30 years. It’s a different company since TD took over. Need to look at other options as need insurance so I can drive my replacement vehicle. Unacceptable. COVID has zero to do with it!
Called to change my policy to new vehicle, waited 45 min on hold, talked to the rep for 15 min and got disconnected and he didn't even call me back even though he confirmed my callback number at the beginning of the call. Customer service 0.
The hold times are incredibly high. I've been trying to cancel my home and car insurance to switch to another provider and so far I've called 3 times and my calls all lasted over an hour. The reps don't understand insurance themselves and can never answer your question directly. It's all "umm, ah, well it's complicated please hold" 15 minutes later. "On what date are you looking to cancel again? Okay, I'll be back" and this cycle goes on and on. I can't wait to replace these people.

I have multiple vehicles and properties insured through this company. Last month they arbitrarily decided to increase all of my vehicle insurance premiums by $22 per month per vehicle. I've been trying to get a hold of them to discuss this but to no avail. First time I was on hold for almost 1.5 hours when someone from Ontario got on the line. After learning that I called from Alberta she told me that she couldn't help me and that I needed to speak with someone from Alberta and that she will transfer me. Instead of transferring me, she ended up hanging up on me. Today I called again, only to be on hold for 2.5 hours this time after giving up. I think I'm not the only one they arbitrarily increased premiums on and now they refuse to pick up calls using Covid as an excuse.
