TD Insurance is a dishonest company that will steal your money, as just happened to me.
Recently TD made an unauthorized withdrawal from my bank account, in effect, an extra month’s payment.
After 4 phone calls, one when I was cut off, another when I was promised a call back by a manager, which never happened, I was informed that this was because their computer identified me as being a month behind in my payments. No one could explain how this could be true since I have been insuring my vehicle for 7 years with my monthly payments on automatic withdrawal from my bank account.
I have never missed a payment for both our vehicles and also our house insurance.
In addition, we have never made a claim in the 17 years we have had insurance with TD. Where’s the loyalty? Where’s the respect? My advice, stay clear of this insurance company. Thieves!
First, TD debited my bank account for my adult son's new car insurance even after I told TD not to charge my account for his insurance. When I noticed the deductions coming out of my account and I contacted TD, they informed me I needed to fax them, yes fax them a piece of paper with my signature and my son's signature on it to even discuss the matter. After multiple months and conversations, I decided to cancel my insurance with TD and they slapped me with a $250 penalty on my way out the door. As far as I'm concerned, the TD group of companies has no scruples. Beware.
I had them for two years. My rates kept shooting up. Then I had surgery, so-called customer service to get them to change my payment dates, they only changed for 1 month. So next month rolls around, I was on bed rest just having my surgery thinking my payments were moved because I did it previously… nope. They charged me it didn’t go through. So then, they charged me an NSF fee on top of it all. Reviewed previous convo (like having the murderer investigating his own crime scene) and said I never moved anything????? Ummm then how did my bank know about it then? Oh right, because I took like 2 hours the previous month to make arrangements with all my creditors to make sure it was handled before my surgery. My husband even heard the convo I had with TD. They lie. They will rip you off then act like it’s your fault. Gaslighting is a real issue with TD.
This company has been taking money from my account for over 7 months for a policy I had cancelled. I keep contacting them every month and they keep giving me the run around about how it’s their fault and they will return the money yet every month they keep taking the money. They will not fix the problem or reimburse me for the money they stole.
It is literally the worst insurance if your banking through TD as well. I have had 2 payments bounce because apparently the banking fees taken out on the 31st come before a payment made on the 30th. They are crooks and have no real reception for people in tough times.
Did you know that on average Ontario drivers with good driving records pay $1,805/year in auto insurance? Is your insurance rate higher? Get a free car insurance quote and start saving today.
Twice I spoke with an advisor on the phone who told me that I did not have to pay at the time (and at all) and twice I’ve received a letter saying that I owed them money. The first time was after a move and covid - so I had missed a few payments. The letter said I had to pay the rest of the year off or my insurance would be cancelled- but the advisor told me I would only have the regular monthly payment on the usual date. When that had passed and nothing came out, I called to inquire - they had cancelled my insurance. I had them conduct a call review and they agreed it was not my fault. I resolved it and cancelled my insurance with them when the year was over. The advisor said my account was squared up. I just received a letter saying I owed $70. So glad to be out of that hell.
They charged me first and last when I did the policy but "accidentally" charged me also for the last month when the policy was over I don't recommend no one to get insurance with them everything is bad
I am disgusted and furious at the money grab implemented by TD Insurance. TD Insurance has instated a monthly fee of $7.50 ($90 per year) - for the privilege of paying your vehicle insurance premium monthly. The representative I spoke to suggested two things after I explained my displeasure at this money grab: 1 - she suggested avoiding the fee, I pay my yearly insurance in full. I explained this was not an option. 2 - she suggested I put the payment in full on a credit card so I could collect points. (Thanks for the great advice). Imagine charging your clients a fee to pay their monthly premiums. This is shameful. It may be an insignificant amount in the big picture - but - I cannot fathom what TD is now making on charging clients a monthly fee to pay their premiums. This is enough to make me look for another insurance provider. I mean, how low can you go?
If you have a good driving record in AB, you should pay around $110/month (women - $105/month and men - $113/month). Do you overpay? Get an Alberta car insurance quote to start saving.
Premiums only increase despite not having tickets or claims. I was forced to reduce coverage in order to afford $. There had also been items on my policy that I never approved or knew of.
Service is non-existent. They do not make you feel heard, acknowledge the complaint, express empathy or help. To speak to a supervisor they request for you to receive a callback, which you never receive.
Despite having my card on file and me authorizing payments my policy was almost cancelled due to non-payment. I spent 15 hours/4 calls trying to reach them & sent online messages.
2021 I was charged for updating my mailing address but not told until months later. I was told my premium was a certain $, but an agent 2 calls later told me it was actually less $. I owe them money, somehow, despite them charging my card.
There is a lack of transparency, you have withheld info or told incorrect info, impossible to actually accomplish anything, TD is crooked!
Three calls and three different quotes. Deductible information is unreliable. I promised myself I would find another insurer next year. It is unclear whether there is any accountability for record-keeping. I have had double payments (annually) taken out, and all manner of errors with no apologies for these errors. Just super frustrating and I wish there were more options in Canada.
