Most expensive insurance

I was paying $260 for full coverage comprehension insurance for a 2022 MITSUBISHI GT, that was a discounted rate under a group plan. I already felt at $260/month I was already over paying as everyone else I talked to was getting better rates than I was else where .

I moved and no longer was able to get a group discount since I was the only one insured with TD, a broker called me and told me that now i’m no longer under a group discount and my rate was going to be changed to $350 IMMEDIATELY, even though i signed a contract for my previous rate .

I called multiple other insurance places and they were all significantly less than TD was.
ALSO TD charges extra too because when you cancel your insurance you get refunded money which is weird to me that they never disclosed they were taking more money than they needed .

Shop around , TD is a complete rip off. Any place well offer a better rate!

Insurance gets higher

My home and auto insurance rate keep getting higher every year even if I never had any claims. This year, I got my full G licence and instead of getting a lower rate, they increase my auto insurance by more than 70cad per month. Needless to say, I switched to another insurance company.

Premiums

Been with TD insurance for 15 plus years. 30 year clean driving record. My premiums keep going up and up and up. Finally I had enough and called around and got my insurance for about half TD was offering me. Not sure why TD is so expensive needless to say I switched insurance companys

THE WORST

TD Insurance is a scam. I was with them for 7 years. My experiences have been horrific, from a claim rejection nightmare to the highest rates I’ve ever seen. I moved to BC and SAVED $2000 a year on one truck.
TD says they insure you but they do not. It’s a smokescreen. They say you’re covered but what they neglect to add “just kidding, you’re not covered at all, we just keep your money...”
The absolute worst experience I’ve ever had with any insurance. A person would be better off burning their money than spending it at TD.

Too expensive for their service

Their group discounts are more of a trap. They are more expensive than other quotes and when you get the group discounts it brings you to slightly more expensive than others. I cancelled all my policies with them for good and moved to another company.

Terrible service

I've been with TD Insurance for over 20 years. This is has been my experience:
1. They only care about new customers; not existing ones. The proof is that when you call, the wait time for the new customer line is typically under 5 minutes and for existing customers, it is at least 1 hour (if you are lucky). The trick is to select "new customer" when calling as they will still help existing customers when you select that option to skip the ridiculous wait times.
2. This past year, they raised my premium by 40%! I had no claims, no tickets and had the same car as the year before. When I called to inquire, they claimed it was because of "my area". That would mean that nearly everyone would have had to be in an accident with that type of increase! Even more unlikely during Covid. I contacted a broker and she found multiple carriers offering insurance at around 40%-50% less than what TD was offering.

Progressively worse to worst

We have been with Meloche Monnex for probably 1996. Due to me being a professional engineer and apparent best rate.

We can say the first 10 years were great. 2nd 10 years - just pain with always calling to get my rates reduced as they always add extras. Now it is absolutely useless. Phone in number - forget it. Holds you for 15-20 mins then they hand up. Their driving app - probably the worst ever - try to call the help number - good luck. In 3 years - I have yet to reach anyone. The app is locked up for the last 2 years - no way to talk to someone. What a joke.

What a joke. I will be switching shortly. I found that another insurer has almost 50% less pricing! Don't waste your time.

Horrible to deal with

You can not understand half the people who answer the phone as well they keep mixing up and screwing up home and auto insurance. I've been on hold for over 3 and a half hours multiple times and still can't get anywhere with them. Also way overpriced!

If you have a good driving record in AB, you should pay around $110/month (women - $105/month and men - $113/month). Do you overpay? Get an Alberta car insurance quote to start saving.

Long Wait Times/ Over priced

Waited on hold for 3+ hours on 3 separate occasions over the past 24 months. There is also no option to be put in a queue and be phoned back, leaving you stranded on the line.
When requesting a renegotiation of my monthly payments they gave me no alternatives even when I informed them another company had made me a better deal.
Their customers are clearly not high on their priority list. It's a real shame considering I like banking with TD.
