Auto Insurance

My vehicle was involved in a car vs. pole collision in August. I was woken up in the middle of the night and given this news by police, my partner decided to take my car without asking and fell asleep behind the wheel, totaling my brand-new SUV. I filed a claim within the hour, police file #included. The next day I was contacted by a man who told me I should know in 7-10 business days if they're going to approve the claim. 13 days later I was notified the claim would be approved and had a rental set up while waiting for them to confirm a total loss. 13 days later the rental company tells me insurance was pulling coverage the next business days, which I thought meant they deemed it a loss, I sent TD the bill of sale as I have the depreciation clause, and they requested it the week prior. An hour after sending it in, I was contacted by another rep from TD and told she was special investigations. She made me answer all the same questions again. Multiple times. Questioned my story about being asleep when police arrived and accused me of giving the keys to my boyfriend, tried to say he lives with me as an uninsured driver, then tried to say he was drunk. She tried to say there was no police report in the file, contrary to the prior rep who had the file in front of him in our last call. When I asked how long she would take to do her investigation, she stated it would take as long as it takes for her to be satisfied. I faxed her every document she requested beginning of September, then crickets. She did not return my voicemails or emails for over a month. Last week I had enough and emailed again, my displeasure was quite obvious, I threatened a lawyer if she continued to ignore me. Like magic, 45 minutes later, she calls me. Tells me she has confirmed my story as truthful, and I'll be getting the claim settled... That I would hear from someone on the meritorious team within the next couple of days... 9 days later, and I have yet to have any more contact. All while I'm still paying for my 2024 SUV that I haven't had in 14 weeks as well as paying insurance on it... And paying out of pocket for a rental… My initial 7-10 business days for a decision is currently 14 weeks and counting. Do yourself a favor and avoid this company at all costs.
I was rear-ended at a red light (no fault) and TD INSURANCE HAS GHOSTED ME. I now have NO CAR, NO RENTAL, NO MONEY, and I am injured. It has been a MONTH since the accident.
After the accident, TD provided a rental car. Policy says $5000 in rental car expenses. They then took 3 weeks to get back to me to tell me that the car was written off. I was offered an insultingly low amount to replace my vehicle (which was completely paid off). I will have to pay out $5000 from my hard-earned savings to get anything close to reliable. I am a paramedic and need reliable transport to/from work in the worst weather conditions with highway driving.
After offering me the insulting claim amount, they gave me 2 DAYS to shop for, buy, insure, and license a new vehicle. They then TOOK MY RENTAL (after less than half of the $5000 amount had been used) and GHOSTED ME. COMPLETELY GHOSTED.
I have gotten NO MONEY AT ALL from TD, and have not been able to get a hold of the adjuster or a manager in over 7 business days (despite multiple calls and emails). I think they have blocked my phone number, or are screening my calls.
I have placed a deposit on a new vehicle, however cannot go pick it up until I pay for it. I cannot pay for it until I receive the claim amount from TD. I am stuck with NO CAR, NO RENTAL, NO MONEY, and NO CONTACT from TD.
Oh and also - when I called the mechanic to go pick up the license plate from the car (the DAY AFTER they told me it would be written off), I was told that TD had already had my car towed to the junkyard A WEEK AGO WITH THE LICENSE PLATE ON IT. So they towed my car to the junkyard a week before they even told me it would be written off, and now I have to pay for and use my time to go get a new license plate.
IS THIS EVEN LEGAL?
HEY TD - CALL ME BACK!!!!!!!!!!
My entire family has been insured with TD (4 cars and 2 houses) for 30 years. Never a claim. And this is how we are treated.
Did you know that on average Ontario drivers with good driving records pay $1,805/year in auto insurance? Is your insurance rate higher? Get a free car insurance quote and start saving today.
I was in an accident, found to be the other drivers fault. Four days latter the adjuster showed up to view my Vehicle. at this point i thought things are moving smoothly then a month passed and then another... after waiting on hold for hours leaving multiple messages and e mails i received an offer (low) I had to find local adds to prove replacement value. after an additional month after countless calls, waiting on hold and e mails i finally received a reasonable offer. I inquired about buy back and they stated 35% of pay out... I asked for a copy of their policy stating this and wouldn't you know they don't have it on a document. Dealing with your insurance company should not be like dealing with a greasy used car salesmen. After all is said and done i feel like i need to take a shower and find another insurance company fast . My advise is RUN FAST don't let the big bank name fool you. Terrible!
You are their valuable customer unless you have a claim. Then, they become your enemy.
I had two not-at-fault accidents (got full coverage), and they made my life crazy messy. Not a good scope for rental! This means there is no rental coverage in your critical moments! You have to find a mechanic shop yourself! Then, when you find one, they change their mind to not repairable. Immediately, you have to return the rental and wait a century for them to give you a cheap valuation. They send you an email at 3:59 PM, And when you reply, they will answer you NEXT WEEK with new requests! Please do not waste your tile, life, and money there!
Trying to reach my claim advisor and he is not picking my call even though they are not responding my email as well.
I never seen services like this before.
I sent many inquiries to my claim advisor but no response. Just ignoring my emails.
I remember when TD Insurance took pride in their business. This is the worst company I have had to deal with in recent months. Auto email responses promise a response to queries within 2 business days (or after) but no response yet and it has been about a month. In addition, agents promise to call back and of course that does not happen. You have to wait for over 1 hour with fingers crossed that you do not get disconnected and if you decide to request a call back it never happens. I have been waiting for 2 days now. TD Insurance - you lack pride and common decency. So sad that you have lost your vision.
I have been trying to reach them from day ONE! I bought the insurance 2 months ago and wanted to create a login account to see my insurance details and now want to change the payment information (as I had used my US credit card to make the first payment and now I got my Canada credit card and wanted to put it on file) but not able to reach them through the phone. Everyday waited for around 1 to 2 hours on hold and was never able to connect to a single person. Escalated multiple times through the email ID they have provided, I think both are FAKE email IDs as all I ever get is system generated auto-replies. I MOVED FROM the US to CANADA and I can 100% state that this INSURANCE company is total FRAUD & SCAMMERS and it is nowhere near to an average US Auto Insurance company. An average US auto company provides 100 times better service than these SCAMMERS!!! STAY AWAY FROM THESE PEOPLE. Now I am planning to discontinue their service but not sure how to do it as you cannot reach anyone on the call. FEELING HELPLESS.
If I could give a lower rating I would... but I can't. Spent over an hour on hold to only be disconnected. Tried again the next day and the same thing happened. So I went a different route by sending a message on their website, after writing my long message it didn't let me send it as the "function was unavailable"... So I turned to Twitter to get information and get my question answered only to be told to try phoning them again. Absolutely useless!

I had an extremely frustrating experience with this TD insurance. From the very beginning, communication was a nightmare. They rarely respond to emails or phone calls, and when they do, it's always with a rude and dismissive tone. Every time I ask for information or clarification, I’m met with vague, unhelpful answers. It's clear that customer service is not a priority here, and it's impossible to get the support I need. I would not recommend them to anyone — it's been nothing but wasted time, money, and frustration.
