HEY TD CALL ME BACK!! GHOSTED?!!!! Claim not paid out.

by Justwantmycarback on Feb 14, 2024

I was rear-ended at a red light (no fault) and TD INSURANCE HAS GHOSTED ME. I now have NO CAR, NO RENTAL, NO MONEY, and I am injured. It has been a MONTH since the accident.

After the accident, TD provided a rental car. Policy says $5000 in rental car expenses. They then took 3 weeks to get back to me to tell me that the car was written off. I was offered an insultingly low amount to replace my vehicle (which was completely paid off). I will have to pay out $5000 from my hard-earned savings to get anything close to reliable. I am a paramedic and need reliable transport to/from work in the worst weather conditions with highway driving.
After offering me the insulting claim amount, they gave me 2 DAYS to shop for, buy, insure, and license a new vehicle. They then TOOK MY RENTAL (after less than half of the $5000 amount had been used) and GHOSTED ME. COMPLETELY GHOSTED.
I have gotten NO MONEY AT ALL from TD, and have not been able to get a hold of the adjuster or a manager in over 7 business days (despite multiple calls and emails). I think they have blocked my phone number, or are screening my calls.
I have placed a deposit on a new vehicle, however cannot go pick it up until I pay for it. I cannot pay for it until I receive the claim amount from TD. I am stuck with NO CAR, NO RENTAL, NO MONEY, and NO CONTACT from TD.
Oh and also - when I called the mechanic to go pick up the license plate from the car (the DAY AFTER they told me it would be written off), I was told that TD had already had my car towed to the junkyard A WEEK AGO WITH THE LICENSE PLATE ON IT. So they towed my car to the junkyard a week before they even told me it would be written off, and now I have to pay for and use my time to go get a new license plate.
IS THIS EVEN LEGAL?
HEY TD - CALL ME BACK!!!!!!!!!!
My entire family has been insured with TD (4 cars and 2 houses) for 30 years. Never a claim. And this is how we are treated.

They will up and leave you without a car

This has been my first and only collision in my lifetime and it has been an absolute nightmare nearly the entire way through. I started the claim January 16, 2024. And the first week I was unable to get either a tow or rental car leaving me taking the bus that nearly took me 3 hours to get home on -35 days. Then finally got this claim settled out and am supposed to be paid out as this accident was at absolutely no fault of my own. Then I’m still waiting on money and had to turn in my rental on Saturday while the person I care for was in the hospital and has further crucial health appointments I need to take him too and have no money to get a new vehicle, no rental, no money for cab, unable to take the bus due to his circumstances! For an incident that I had no control of at all and the other individual on the side of this case has absolutely no effect to her, none. Just consequences on the side of the innocent party …. Other person only has a dent on company vehicle. Has a whole other personal vehicle no effect to her livelihood whatsoever. Still waiting on payout to be able to so much as search for a new vehicle.

Did you know that on average Ontario drivers with good driving records pay $1,805/year in auto insurance? Is your insurance rate higher? Get a free car insurance quote and start saving today.

The worst experience ever!

You are their valuable customer unless you have a claim. Then, they become your enemy.
I had two not-at-fault accidents (got full coverage), and they made my life crazy messy. Not a good scope for rental! This means there is no rental coverage in your critical moments! You have to find a mechanic shop yourself! Then, when you find one, they change their mind to not repairable. Immediately, you have to return the rental and wait a century for them to give you a cheap valuation. They send you an email at 3:59 PM, And when you reply, they will answer you NEXT WEEK with new requests! Please do not waste your tile, life, and money there!

Don't ever use this corrupt and incompetent company.

My mother used this unscrupulous company for her insurance. She got in an accident. Wasn't her fault. And they never settled her claim even though she sent all the necessary paperwork back to the adjuster. Adora F. He kept stalling. Lying. And finally. 4 months later my mum passed away. Due to some of the injuries she sustained while the accident. Then as executor of her estate, I noticed they. Kept taking premiums from her account. When she never had a car since her accident. So they knew this as. They never settled her claim. I'm trying to get closure on this. Case and all they do is put up more and more blocks or ask me for signatures from my dead mother. Even the TD Bank manager who was working with me to settle this was shocked at how absolutely difficult they are being. Looks like I'm going to have to sue! Because they refuse to accept that I'm the executor. Even though. TD waived to probate and deemed me executor. I can't believe that a chartered bank. As credible as TD. Would allow this criminal scam company under their umbrella. Don't use this Company TD Insurance is a scam and will never pay and keep taking premiums when not entitled. I had to close my mum's account to get them to stop. As they didn't accept the death certificate either.

Worst Experience ever

I had an accident and I was at no fault. It doesn’t matter to them if explain the whole situation they will think and do whatever they want to.
I had a new car just 8 days driven and got hit by a vehicle. Airbags were deployed and had damaged bumper and other parts. It was nonrepairable but they assigned it to repairable not because in actuality it is just because they can’t write off that much amount. Really hurtful.
I am worried about safety more. If something happens in the future just because of repaired part who is going to be responsible for that?
Would not recommend it to anyone honestly. They don’t value your money.

A woman hit my car. It was deemed her fault. TD is her insurance company but they will not talk to my insurance company. They are unprofessional and a terrible business. Now I have to cover my $500.00 deductible. Stay away from them like the plague.

Never go with TD, always shop around, they only rip you off

My husband got into an auto accident which was not his fault and now they don’t wanna help us with coverage. They kept increasing his premium every year. Can’t give us rental nor give us any idea how much compensation we deserve. They think it will most likely be a write off.
Claiming they’re still reviewing case. Bunch of crooks. Thank you TD, we’re not dealing with you guys anymore, and we will make sure no one else will. Hope you can sleep at night knowing you steal from people and refuse them help. Province of Ontario really need to investigate this company and companies like them.

No Fault claim nightmare

by jte70 on Mar 9, 2022
1.3 out of 5 stars

All these years I was mistakenly thinking this was one of the best insurances and always was wondering you they receive such negative feedback.
Now I completely understand and you will understand once you have a claim with them (Hopefully you will never have one) especially when you are completely at no fault and they will try to reduce the cost as much as possible of the other insurance company at this time only you will start the feel of frustration.
I will try to do my best to reach out to all of these people and friends whom I referred to use TD insurance and would say sorry please don't.
You start to feel very bad when your adjuster notify you that even you have 5 years replacement cost we can't declare it total loss as the replacement cost will cost the insurance more than the actual value of the car even if the customer who at no fault would lose the trade-in value of his car so this 5 years replacement cost actually works against insurance holder as insurance always will go to repair option to save and work on their best interest or other insurance best interest at the end the consumer who will get punished.
Even I told them I already had a signed trade in a week before the accident with deposit paid and the dealer would refuse to take it, but TD wouldn't understand that. No choice - other than the legal case which is time-wasting for everyone that is exactly how no-fault people can feel.
Please always consider many criteria before you decide about your new insurance company it's not only the premium.

Beware! TD and appraiser purposely "total lost" the car so they can buy it cheaply.

by Trung Nguyen on Jan 19, 2022
1 out of 5 stars

Due to vehicle shortage, TD and the appraiser purposely decided on the "total loss" of my car.
The value of the car also is being lowballed and there is no chance to negotiate. TD has set up the situation with two bad options for me to choose from:
1) Sell the car for cheap. They will not re-evaluate the value of the car when asked!
2) Keep your broken car with a "salvage" title. You pay for the repair and costly process to re-brand the car from "salvage" to "rebuilt".
TD claim manager, Giselle Z. said: "TD has the right to determine if we will repair or offer a settlement". In my case, TD chooses not to repair my car. So which of the two losing options should I choose?
I have been with TD for over 10 years with zero claims. Now for a not-at-fault claim, I must fight just to have TD repair my car.
This is a $5000 case. Imagine what will TD do for a personal injury case?
I have escalated my case to the next level of the TD complaining process.
