Unreliable and Poor Service

They will only fix parts of your vehicle they want to and not all the issues that were affected by the accident. Then tell you that area was not caused by the accident and won't fix it. I messaged them about it over a year ago they kept saying they will get back to me then they just say no were not fixing it because it is rusted so it wasn't caused by the accident. It is rusted because it's been a year I'm waiting!
Someone had a side collision with my 2013 Acura MDX, admitted to being at fault. TD promised to fix the car because I am on a comprehensive insurance package. Took the SUV to the auto-shop, and they started demanding I must pay $5000 for the damage unrelated to the accident. All pieces of evidence show that the "altered quarter panel" is a result of the current impact of the collision.
Looking for an auto insurance company? Kindly remove TD insurance from your list.
Checked my bank account to find out TD has taken more than double my premium from my account without any type of warning causing my mortgage to bounce and I incurred 2 NSF charges! When I finally got through to a real person to point out their mistake, I was told that this is what TD does to insure a policy renewal, and they will gladly give me my NSF charges back when I prove to them it was actually taken from my accounts. They are modern-day pirates out for only one thing... Profits! They couldn't care less about their clients. RUN as fast as you can from these people. I will be informing all my friends, relatives and colleagues of the way TD treat their clients!
And I thought my TD Assurance story was over. In November I had given TD Assurance explicit written directions that they were not to renew my policy automatically and that I wanted a quote at the termination of the current policy so I could make a decision.
Last Wednesday although my policy was completely paid for TD attempted to put another payment through my bank account. Fortunately, there wasn't enough money in that particular account and the payment bounced. The bank (not TD) did charge me an NSF fee which they subsequently gave me back once I explained to them what had happened. Then on Friday, I got a notice from TD Assurance that they had auto-renewed my policy at a rate that was double what I had negotiated with the new company for exactly the same terms as my original policy.
WARNING - DO NOT GIVE TD ASSURANCE YOUR BANKING INFORMATION. SHOP AROUND FOR INSURANCE RATES. TD Assurance rates are usury.
Make sure that you say "I AM CANCELLING MY INSURANCE. I AM NOT RENEWING. I DO NOT WANT TO BE INSURED BY YOUR COMPANY ANYMORE." Otherwise, they send you a $200 penalty invoice 2 months later for a service that you stopped paying for and did not use since the end of the term. Competitive rates, yes. Word traps and gouging after the fact, absolutely. Steer clear of them.
Did you know that on average Ontario drivers with good driving records pay $1,805/year in auto insurance? Is your insurance rate higher? Get a free car insurance quote and start saving today.
They don’t answer your call and want to do everything by apps! When you can’t do everything with the app then you are lost! Don’t deal with these people!
They have too few customer service reps. When I finally got through I was told how the charges would go through to which I agreed. They didn't go through as agreed (charged to credit card) and debited my bank account without my permission. Since there was a balance outstanding, because the full amount wasn't debited, I couldn't get access to my account online because there was a balance outstanding? Ridiculous...
I have been a customer for over 25 years. I have tried on a number of occasions to get through to them as a result of a call from them saying I need to review my auto policy.
The wait time is ridiculous. Their message just repeats on a loop, plus there is no opportunity to request a callback and no indication as to how long you will have to wait.
I know from past experience when you do finally get through, they are good to deal with, but getting to them is next to impossible. TD, you really need to do something to fix this issue.
Terminated my policy without notifying me. Later I find out they did it as they were not able to process payments on my card because my bank noticed some FRAUD transaction and cancelled the card. Received no phone, text or email regarding missing payments for four months. When I acted it was already too late. I offered to make any outstanding payment in full and requested to reinstate insurance.
Instead of helping out their customer, they flagged my account with non-payment' which is now impacting me every time I go to any insurance company. They did it purposely so that I go back to them, and take insurance at a revised rate which is 120 per month higher than what I was paying before. Another weirdest thing, I paid off everything I owed, they're not even ready to issue a letter note saying I do not OWE anything. I don't know how to defend my rights in this situation 'when they have full access to flag/destroy my record with whatever they want.

After my one and only minor claimable collision, which cost the insurance company about $3,500, they jacked my premiums by more than 30% every year following the claim. During the claims process, the phone wait times were in excess of 1 hour to speak to a claims adjuster. In addition, the claims adjuster gave the wrong information to the collision centre that was fixing my vehicle.
I paid more in insurance in the years following than the cost of the collision.
I finally got fed up when they jacked my premiums again in 2021, and phoned to cancel the renewal. I phoned 37 days in advance of the renewal, at which point the agent told me that they would not debit my bank account for the renewed policy. 6 days later, they debited my account for the new policy.
I phoned again, and was told that they would refund the money in 30 days. Yes, folks, that's "30" days that they will be holding my insurance premium.
How's that for service? Stay away from this company.
