Terrible customer service and follow up on car claim

by EM on Feb 18, 2022
1 out of 5 stars

I received the worst customer service on a car claim.
I have been a client for more than 25 years never had a claim before. The accident happened on Jan 9 after many phone calls, emails and website contact still waiting for a return phone call from the claim representative that was assigned to me.....
Worst service ever, do not choose Belair!!!

Worst experience I've ever had with any company

by Stephane Robert on Feb 1, 2022

My car was stolen from the Toronto Airport over a week ago, the insurance company hasn't contacted the rental company, they've not returned any phone calls or responded to emails. I can't reconcile how these companies are allowed to be in business.

Cheap insurance, not worth the hassle

by Belair on Jan 25, 2022

I'll pay more to get better service. Claim processing was brutally slow, I had to send them a message on Twitter to get the claim looked at because my adjuster was out of the office for over a week and no one else picked up the claim. Customer service cancelled my insurance a day early and I had to call them again to get it fixed...

If you have a good driving record in AB, you should pay around $110/month (women - $105/month and men - $113/month). Do you overpay? Get an Alberta car insurance quote to start saving.

Terrible claim service and follow up service

by Jeffrey Rosehart on Jan 17, 2022
1 out of 5 stars

Spent over two months without contact after my claim was submitted, even after multiple phone calls attempting to see what was happening with my claim. Found out after the 2-month mark and 5 phone calls they had not even contacted the tow yard with my car, nor done anything with the policy. The car rental company contacted me saying they were behind in their payments and would have to charge me until they paid, which I had to call again to find out they had been ignoring their emails as well. After finally settling my claim, when trying to set up a new policy for a new car not 3 days after the finalization of that issue, they refuse to honour their own accident forgiveness policy (my first ever claim of any kind) and tell me I now have a gap in insurance because they did not properly explain the cancellation process...

Claims process taking 5 months and counting

by TOR-driver9 on Jan 14, 2022
2 out of 5 stars

A driver rear-ended my car in September last year resulting in fairly minor damage. The claims process with Belair seemed smooth and friendly at first. The only issues were the website and mobile app often returning an error message or no info on my claim, but I was able to get help over the phone.
It's now January and I'm still waiting for my car to be fixed. I had the last update in November when the body shop called me to confirm I want to move forward and have them order the parts. Since then I've been waiting for them to call me back, and nothing. I called them myself today and found out they'd got an update from Belair in December claiming I'd decided to take the car somewhere else, and so they cancelled the whole order. I never did that though so now I'm waiting on Belair, who I can't get through to by phone, to explain to me what's happened. Meanwhile luckily at least the body shop says they'll restart the process to order the parts to help me out. I am extremely frustrated at this point.

Huge cancellation fee

by yizimi on Sep 16, 2021

THEY CHARGE A HUGE CANCELLATION FEE and they won't tell you about it when you sign up. I asked them how cancellation works and they completely omitted the conversation about the cancellation fee. You shouldn't choose Belairdirect if you plan on insuring your car for less than a year.

Did you know that on average Ontario drivers with good driving records pay $1,805/year in auto insurance? Is your insurance rate higher? Get a free car insurance quote and start saving today.

10% discount is big scam

by Harshil patel on Dec 4, 2020

At the time of getting insurance their agents tell you to use application and get 10% off your premium but they never tell you that if you forgot to open app while driving that discount will be taken of forever and the agent over the phone got so much attitude from no where like if you can not help your customers then at least don’t try to say that we can not change the policy but you can change insurance,
Remember guys they never tell you that they will taken off 10% for the rest of the year if you miss opening application while driving and i told them that i drive company van everyday and with covid going on i don't go out much on weekends and even with that like who remember to turn the freaking app while driving and this small reason is good enough for this scammers to take your 10% off right away.
Total crappy reason for this scammers

Adjusters don't backup

by Tanveer on Oct 27, 2020
1 out of 5 stars

I had a claim that was based on a lie, spoken by a third party, who claimed that I hit them with my car... The police were called on the scene, the affected party was examined by EMS on the scene and also were taken to the hospital for a detailed checkup, and found out that none of the persons involved in the incident was injured. But the Belair adjuster who was assigned to the claim kept insisting that they were injured. I wish I had an option to upload the police report with this review. Please, stay away from Belair Insurance.

Ripped off

by Luce239 on Oct 16, 2020

Please, do not use their bad service and expensive! I have been paying 175 for a single Toyota car for 4 years then, this year, they increased it to $200 without getting in any trouble or claimed! Then I called another insurance company and they charge me now $180 / for two cars (the Toyota Venza and a brand new Jeep Wrangler). Less of what I was paying for one! Isn’t that crazy people?

They sent a renewal letter and the rates mentioned is different from the amount charged on the card. I called why and they did not honor the renewal rate given. Terrible customer service as well.
