Sylvia agent

Horrible adjuster. I'm going to be taking my business elsewhere once my insurance lapses. Here totally screwed me on my massages. I had a massage therapist that was super unprofessional. I was approved for all my massages for 28 and I had to change massage therapist so it took me 2 months to find another one. My massage therapist was racist and now I'm told that I have to pay out of pocket for half of my massages and she's only covering $350 when they told me I was allowed to get 28 massages. Desjardins is a joke!

Worst Representative

My car was gone due to hail damage, without my fault! They harass me, they simply ignore our calls and don't ever reply to you back for our claim. The worst experience with the adjuster, she didn't even bother to call you back or reply to your email. I am waiting for last month with no response ever.

Totally Unorganized

After a no-fault accident, things went really well to the point where the body shop manager was surprised how well it was going as they were going to repair my car.
There was quite a delay due to parts not coming in and once repaired they realized that the harness wires had burned through and decided to write the car off.
That's where things started to unravel and it would take a couple of pages to explain what went on after that point.
Our claims advisor was nowhere to be found, nobody in the company knew where she was and why she wasn't getting back to us. When I talked to maybe the 10th person over a week's time, she tried to find out what happened to her claims advisor by contacting the claims advisors manager but could not get a hold of them either.
I found a number with DesJardins that was your last straw phone number that looks into the situation and tries to help you. Had to leave a message there also and no one ever got back to me.
I believe people working from home is a huge part of this problem but this company is so unorganized it's very hard to believe any company can run like this.
I am retired so the time is there to make at least 20 phone calls over a two-week timeframe and still no answers. Imagine somebody that is working full-time and has a busy life, the nightmare would be much worse than what I have now through.

TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE

by Denise on Oct 23, 2020
1.5 out of 5 stars

I was a client of State Farm Insurance for 15 years, where the customer service was personal and excellent. Desjardins bought out State Farm, a very bad move for State Farm clients as I have discovered. On June 13, 2020 my vehicle was caught in a flash flood during a major hail and rain storm in Calgary. As a consequence, my vehicle's engine was flooded. Because there was no help to be had, I called AMA, who towed my vehicle in the middle of the night to my trusted auto repair shop. After calling for a week, I was finally able to reach Desjardins. The adjuster told me that my certified repair shop was not on the Desjardins list so the Adjuster insisted on towing the vehicle to a body shop even though there was no body damage. (Lie #1 - the customer can have the vehicle towed to any trusted garage). What I needed was a mechanic. I researched and learned that indeed my vehicle was repairable. After a month, a Desjardins inspector finally showed up, took two minutes to look at the vehicle and insisted it was not repairable so he had the vehicle towed to an auction company. Desjardins made me a ridiculously low offer, which I refused. Finally, they offered a bit more which I again refused. My research told me that the vehicle was worth much more than they were offering and it was repairable. I sent my research to the Adjuster who finally made a decent offer. I did not sign off immediately because I wanted to conduct more research regarding the potential of repairing the vehicle. Yes, it was repairable. The Adjuster lost patience with me stating that she needed to close the file immediately and if I didn't settle I would get nothing (Lie #2 - upon calling the Insurance Bureau of Canada I was informed that I had 2 years to settle the claim). Finally, after 4 months, I accepted Desjardins' offer because they refused to let me buy out the vehicle, forcing me to have to bid on it in an auction. In the meantime, without notifying me, Desjardins notified the Alberta government that the vehicle was deemed unrepairable and that it could never be considered drivable (Lie #3). There was no body damage so it could definitely be deemed as salvage which would have allowed me to repair it and drive it again. This seemed to be a spiteful move on the part of the Adjuster. During the 4 months of back and forth with Desjardins, I asked to speak to a supervisor but no one ever called me. My broker was unable to negotiate for me as, unlike State Farm, Desjardins does not allow brokers to speak on behalf of their clients. I have now lost my trusted vehicle and must buy another one even though my settlement would have been enough to repair the vehicle. Never, never trust Desjardins. I feel that Desjardins merely wanted to pay me out as cheaply as possible just to get rid of me. As a client, I had no value to them.

Useless

The person in charge of our claim has been ignored our calls and emails for almost a week, is currently denying our professional assessment and has been lowballing us from the start by searching 4 cylinder cars instead of what ours is (6 with low mileage) over an accident we didn't even cause and had dashcam footage to prove it. We'll be taking it to the news if it doesn't improve.

Rip off artists and they lie!

Told us we had to release the car so they can get it the next day. We did that.
Almost 2 weeks later we received an email that says we have to pay 360 for the towing and 60 a day impound.
The representative Jess said the car was going to be moved She listened to *a tape* will honour that... ok great.
Tells us nothing further can be done until the accident report was obtained.
She tried to tell us she can't access it.
We called the opp who informed us she can.
Then under an hour later, she manipulates my son with the brain injury into accepting a pay put that is not even half the replacement value of the car.
The guy on the phone Benjamin tells me the point in insurance is to give you money so you can add to it and buy a replacement vehicle. It'd not intended to pay what it cost to replace the car.
I have dealt with 6 people from claims. None know what they are doing and none care about customers. Not one is truthful either.
Do not go with this company

Worst claim experience ever

1 star is too generous
I got rare ended by a driver when I waiting for the red light, after the accident I hear sound when I drive, I took it to the shop and they found a broken piece. Insurance sent an adjuster to check, the advisor never reply emails and calls. 3 days later I received a 900 dollars chequeen with no explanation of what is covered to repair.
I called and again can't get hold of the advisor that was assigned to my case.
They told me the sound was caused by a previous accident which is not covered. I told them I have no previous accident hitting from that back. They then change the word to insurance does not cover rust damage.
I told them that the broken piece is the result of this collision it should be covered.
The guy was really rude and he said he is a manager. Finally, after 3 weeks of waiting someone gets back to me in such a rude manner...
I am so done with them.

Absolute Garbage Insurance Company

by Anthony on Dec 28, 2021
1 out of 5 stars

Desjardin (via its Certas Home and Auto Insurance company) Customer Service and Claims Adjusters are a joke, especially if you are a third-party victim from one of their retard drivers - which happened to us in this case. The representative who was supposed to help us, Zain, was a total joke as well. He was very unresponsive and utterly useless. Zero no reasons why this dude even has a job here since he clearly fails at it - making Desjardin already look worse than it already is currently.
Similar to other reviewers, they noted our car is a total loss after it was hit by one of their idiot driver clients who does not know how to drive in the winter in Alberta.
They came back to us with a poor valuation of our vehicle. The comparables they used were all super high mileage, not the same specs, nor looked taken care of either. Moreover, Desjardin was supposed to provide us with a car rental, which never happened via Enterprise as the provider couldn't give us a car due to a shortage in Calgary, AB. When we called Desjardin, they said it was our responsibility to call around other Enterprises in the city for a vehicle. The funny part, however, is that they already knew full well about the Enterprises' lack of rental vehicles situation as per our e-mail dealings with Zain. The guy just literally didn't want to call around and be responsible for overseeing the matter.
Essentially, they left us with no car rental, a poor buy-out appraisal for our lost car, and my fiancee who needs to seek medical treatment for her back and neck pain. While the description above applies to the vehicle property side, we are definitely hiring a lawyer for the medical claim settlement as this entire situation is terrible. I cannot imagine how their actual paying clients put up with this poor service and care. What a horrendous insurance provider. This provider seriously needs major reform, as well as employee retraining or removal of members who are obviously detrimental to its business and values - assuming it actually has values beyond profit realizations.

If you have a good driving record in AB, you should pay around $110/month (women - $105/month and men - $113/month). Do you overpay? Get an Alberta car insurance quote to start saving.

Worst ever

Do not go to this insurance. Never use any of their preferred shops for a repair. I've had 2 horrible experiences both with the shops and with the claims adjuster. One shop was bytek VW Ottawa and another was fixauto 417 Nissan. With VW the job was so bad insurance ended up buying out my car. The one with fixauto they go through managers like crazy and do anything to avoid fixing poor work and make excuses and as for the insurance don't expect them to do their jobs. The guy I had would take months to get back to me. I had an accident in 2019 brand new car and was still trying to get problems resolved in 2021 and got to the point I said screw it and traded in my car. The dealer used the poor work against me when purchasing my vehicle. This company also goes back in your history 10 years. Save yourself the trouble and try something else...
