Bad company

I called to discuss decreasing my home insurance while my house is up for sale as per my realtor's suggestion and they actually wanted to increase my rate by $73.71 per month! I have never made a claim in 25 years not even after my house was damaged after the July 29, 2020 hail storm in Calgary or even after the June 21, 2013 flood in Calgary because they refused to come out and assess my home. My neighbors received a brand new hail-resistant roof and siding and painted trim from their Insurance company for only a $600 deductible and for me, Johnson Insurance has done ABSOLUTELY NOTHING IN 25 YEARS BUT increased MY PREMIUMS by $75/month! This is the worst insurance company to deal with and if I were you, think about cancelling or looking elsewhere like I am right now. I would be absolutely terrified if my home burnt down the kind of treatment I would be receiving.
The one who I spoke to this afternoon on the phone, actually yelled at me all the time.
What a great customer service! Thank you so much for wasting and ruining my whole day.
I have spoken with your agent Diana twice now and she has been extremely rude, cutting me off mid-sentence numerous times even telling me that I ‘should have been on this long ago. Agents should be there to help, not to pass judgment and make things harder than they already are. Truly disgusted with her customer service.
It is easier to cancel and go somewhere else than it is to remove a deceased person from home insurance. They require the death certificate, a page of the will and the kicker for you to change the dead to the house to the account holder's name. The deed automatically goes to my dad and is not required to be changed except that home insurance is asking us to. Once we have more time we will be cancelling. No one should be forced to change a deed that does not need to be changed. Especially after a death.
I have been with this company for about 10 years and made no claims. I made my first claim in August for a house fire. Since I made the claim, the company has to keep telling me different things about my policy. When I bought it they told me my policy included loss of use. When I made the claim, they said, I had no loss of use coverage. When I challenged that, they changed their statement to say my policy limit was only $2000.
If you want peace of mind, I would not recommend them.
We were originally insured for our Quebec cottage through The Personal. For some reason in 2019 Johnson took over the Personal files and decided not to insure Quebec cottages. They say they sent us a registered letter however we never received notification of a registered letter and so never received it. The annual payments were being deducted from our account automatically which had been going on since 2011. We never noticed that the payment didn’t come out. So although Johnson had other contact info for us they never made any attempt to do so. They cancelled our insurance and a year later when we contacted them to update some info we found out we had no insurance. I should mention there was never a claim made on the cottage. Now because there has been a lapse in insurance we are having a very hard time finding a company who will insure us. This ordeal has left us in a very bad predicament with a cottage that other insurance companies do not want to insure due to the lapse in insurance. Run from Johnson and run fast!
Their online capabilities are of little use so you have to call them for anything. Wait times are long, at least 30 minutes, and there is no callback service, so you get serenaded by their on-hold music. They often make mistakes such as sending you the wrong information, then you have to call back, wait on hold for 30+ minutes... The people are pleasant, but the service is poor. On top of all this, their rates are not that good. We never claimed the policies in 4 years, but we are moving on due to the customer service.
These are extraordinary times and I truly appreciate how kind, considerate and professional the agent was as she dealt with several issues regarding my 91-year-old father’s coverage! She spent a large amount of her afternoon helping me, answered all my questions and never made me feel rushed. Johnson Insurance went above and beyond in ensuring that we had all of the coverage we needed and were very accommodating when it came to adding provisions due to our circumstances. Very much appreciated!
Canadians pay, on average, approximately $20 per month in tenants insurance. Do you rent or plan to rent a property and want to reduce insurance costs? We will help you get a cheap tenant insurance quote today.
Never had any claims or other 'need' for their service other than paying the premium hoping it's good, but came time to try to cancel tenant's insurance and it can't be done. Apparently, an account I opened and put someone else's name on just because they lived with me requires them to cancel the policy. It is ridiculous. They have nothing more than a name. No signature or anything else legally binding. It could be my cat for all they know. Bunch of crooks. I'm going to do everything in my power to cancel this and my current home insurance policy (if I'm allowed to). From all the really negative reviews, I have no faith in the company being able to be counted upon if it came to making a claim. Low rates but what's the point when you don't get anything out of it. I can see a class action happening soon. Based on reviews, they shouldn't exist. And anyone working for this terrible company, you're all part of the problem.

Johnson & Johnson provided my home insurance, took my money and then 3 months later wrote a roof exclusion and refused to give me any of my money back. I am on Social Security and do not have that kind of money to get another Insurance Company to help me. Johnson and Johnson people were very rude to me and refused to help me in any way. I would never never recommend them.
