AVIVA left us in the cold for 6 weeks with no heat in our home after last year's ice storm. We were sick and freezing with portable electric heaters in subzero weather. I had to get the furnace situation resolved myself just to ensure we didn't have further damage. Now AVIVA is refusing to pay for our furnace costs. I regret the day I ever decided to go with AVIVA for our home insurance as they provide no insurance at all.
Canadians pay, on average, approximately $20 per month in tenants insurance. Do you rent or plan to rent a property and want to reduce insurance costs? We will help you get a cheap tenant insurance quote today.
Dealing with aviva was a nightmare, there customer service skills are in the gutter. They led us to believe we would be covered for damage done to our trailor, but they left us high and dry--I would not recommend them to anyone!!
It would take far too long to go into the details of the nightmare that was my home insurance claim with AVIVA.
Some of the highlights; a small claim took 9 months; they sent unqualified, unlicensed contractors to do the work. The contractors all but destroyed my home (certainly devalued it), including a number of areas not even affected by the claim. I had to pay for and/or provide the supplies, including paint and tools for the contractors as they did not have tools (not even rags), and instead of purchasing the proper paint said they could mix a number of different odds and ends of paint they had together and "that would do".
I had to take almost a month off work and live in a home with no kitchen, living-room or dining-room for 9 months.
Throughout the entire process they showed absolutely no respect for me or my home.
I can honestly say it was one of, if not the worst experience of my life.
I would highly recommend you avoid this company, at least if you live in the GTA area of Ontario.
I would honestly give them no stars if I could.
A company who doesn't charge for services we don't need.
When I had to put in a claim they were helpfull, expedient and courteous.
Excellent customer service. Friendly experienced staff. Provide quality service.
Service has always been prompt and courteous, claims have been settled quickly, and the price seems like good value for the money
It is a company plan so the premiums are a bit better than "average". Any claims were handled quickly and without issue.
2009 we had a fire, one of the kids playing with a lighter. We were worried we would be denied insurance because it was one of our kids. He was only five so he wasn't deemed responsible thank goodness! Fire started in a lower basement bedroom, that room and the back half of our home was destroyed, nobody was hurt. Aviva gots us an advance cheque quickly because we basically lost everything, we had 4 kids, 2 adults, they paid for a rental home for us while our home was rebuilt. We selected the company that rebuilt it from one that Aviva recommended and we were happy with the work they did. We were back in our home in 6 months. I'll stay with Aviva after that. When you have a large loss and the insurance company takes care of things the way they did I wouldn't go anywhere else!
