Extreme Price Increases on TD Home Insurance

by Neil Harbaruk on Mar 16, 2024
2 out of 5 stars

Same as others in this forum, we are long-time TD customers and every year there are price increases, however, this year it is more than substantial at 34%. The sole excuse from TD is that replacement costs are up, so they just chose to increase the coverage on our policy. We are totally over-ensured at this amount and certainly do not require or want the additional amount. I also called and spoke with an actual person who again said the same thing. Forcing customers to over-insure is price gouging, plain and simple! This must be some form of loophole they are using to justify huge premium increases.

TD home insurance disappointing experience

by Michael Anderson on Mar 9, 2024
1 out of 5 stars

Beware if in western Canada. They assign you to a rep in Halifax. Time zone makes it difficult to connect. Incredibly poor service. They used the cheapest contractor who made things worse with their work. When I filed a complaint about the poor service they handed the complaint to the person who provided the poor service. She did not care at all. TDI does not care at all. I ended up using my own contractor to do rework.

They increase your premium by 40% without a good reason, BTW, no claim history for 13 years

by Leo Zh on Feb 5, 2024

They suddenly increased my home insurance by 40% without reasonable explanation, I am 13 year loyal client, without any claim for so many years, the renewal notice showed their raise of premium for this year is 40% higher than last year. I called and questioned the agent, the agent was not able to give me a good explanation, and the attitude is really rude. I chose to cancel the policy with TD Insurance, recommend you to do the same thing too.

ABSOLUTE SHAME OF AN INSURANCE COMPANY

by Carolyn on Dec 15, 2023
1 out of 5 stars

We are 4 months into our claim, big claim after complete house fire, and it has become a literal full time job. TD does not answer phone calls or emails even with "direct" lines to your supposed adjuster. Our current adjuster, there has been more than one, is located in Halifax and has never even seen our home yet is making huge decisions concerning it. We are fighting them 100% but this is NOT what we have been paying home insurance for more than 10 years for. Our rent is due today (TD is obligated to pay this as part of our coverage as our home is rebuilt) and they have yet to transfer the needed money. Do yourself a favour and learn from our mistake. DO not sign up with TD. When this claim is completed we will never, ever use TD again and have begun telling anyone we can about this despicable company.

Home claim small water damage

by Larpworm on Nov 25, 2023
1 out of 5 stars

I don’t even know where to start. Claims rep was horrible to the point of me requesting new rep. I was denied!! I requested my policy 3 times and had to make phone calls before I got it.
I used the companies preferred vendor( first on site) to do the work to avoid problems. Nothing but horrible workmanship from drug dependent workers. Work was supposed to take 2 weeks. 6 months later was only half completed and horrible to the point as I kicked them out of my house.
Ins company won’t pay to replace electronics that were damaged and won’t work. They sent electronics out to be tested and paid $100 to get a letter saying electronics are fine. So they won’t even budge saying everything works when it doesn’t.
I am now going thru an agency to go mediate compensation which is a no brainer obvious call. Even if they are the cheapest rates your throwing ur money away as you are simply not insured as they won’t pay on an everyday claim. Their goal is to say no and make u fight for it .
A one star is too much. If you need proof of this you can reach me at 6667chevelle@gmail.com and I will gladly send u pictures and videos.

If you’re calling to spend money they have dozens of people on the line to speak to. If you’re calling to submit a Claim they’re short staffed.

worst customer service ever

by mai ly on Sep 29, 2023

Please don't waste your money on this home insurance company. They take your money and when you file for a claim, they will be your worst nightmare. They won't help at all. Their goal is to try whatever fraudulent way to not help and they certainly will not update you. Leave you waiting for months. I had excellent service with other insurance and I will go back to them.

Very poor customer care

by E. Goldfarb on Aug 9, 2023

I believe that TD Insurance did not fulfil its duty as my insurer. They offered me their “preferred partner”, Integricon, to manage the repairs to my house following significant damage by fallen tree limbs. That project manager sent in contractors that did the work improperly, and then denied that anything was wrong. TD Insurance has refused to use its leverage or otherwise help resolve an issue with the roof repair, saying that I have to resolve it myself with Integricon. If TD Insurance offers a “preferred” project manager, I think that they should take responsibility for resolving problems created by that party. I felt deeply disappointed by TD Insurance. I would not recommend them to anyone who values their home and their peace of mind.
