Terrible

After being 20+ years claims free clients, La Capitale took us (2 seniors) to the cleaners financially. It took them 14+ months to fractionally pay us the value of our water damaged contents and our time, even though our comprehensive insurance coverage was for full replacement value with no depreciation. We lost over $25,000 on that portion alone. The reconstruction estimate they gave us was short of reality by over another $25,000. We had to fight from Aug. 6 2019 until November before we finally got a cheque to begin repairs. Their 3rd party adjuster, GPC Gatineau, was a manipulative bully from day one. He lied, argued, and combatively made every step triple the work and stress for us. He arbitrarily made decisions that negatively affected us without ever informing us. Thank goodness all our communications were via email except the face to face interactions, which we would confirm back via email. When one has never gone through a major household claim, you don't know how the system works, what your rights are, what to expect, what to watch out for, what to have as proof before, during, and after the disaster. We will report La Capitale and GPC to all responsible organizations nationally, exposing just how unethical, devious, and outright bullies they are to their clients. STAY FAR AWAY FROM THESE 2 COMPANIES!!!

A Nightmare

We finally got a court date last Tuesday, September 22, 2020, and they settled with my neighbour who also had a claim against them because our house was semi-detached with them, on Friday before September 19th, 2020. And then claimed that there was not enough time to prepare for the trial. On Tuesday. Under this circumstance the Judge suggested mediation. And if it was not settled by mediation which was September 25, we would have a New court date before the end of the year. Like November. The mediation was a disaster. The claim was for $1,600,000. One point six million and they offered $20,000. In the end, they wouldn’t go over $200,000. Two hundred thousand. I had gone down to $350,000 to get it over with. So we’re going to court. And we will add another $500,000 in damages for what I went through. My ex-husband was not affected, and they excluded him anyway. We think that they settled with him behind our backs. I suggest you check out their reviews before even considering them for any type of insurance.
