earthquake deductible

My home insurance with Belairdirect since the year 2018, originated from Canadian Direct Insurance since the year 2000 (then Canada West, HSBC etc ). The original insurance earthquake deductible is 5%, then agreed to pay up to $ 1816 from $980 annually to keep 5% deductible. This year still asking for $ 1816 with 15% deductible and claims its their policy as my property was located at Richmond., plus property only covered for $ 401,000 for a million property, rather than standard $ 623,000. Another insurance company still offering a 10% deductible for earthquake coverage.

I was with Belairdirect for about 5 years (home and car). I had one home claim, they were not very helpful and initially refused to cover the kitchen flood. Just 'no'. We had an external person come in to assess, after the external assessment and many phone calls, they finally gave in and covered new flooring. Then upon moving homes, after agreeing to insure my new home, they pulled out just 2 days before move in date. I asked about the BelAir rep on the phone about the rules concerning student room rentals, she immediately told me they would no longer insure me, end of conversation. Unreal.

House Insurnace Gouging

I got an email telling me my car insurance came down $101, they didn't send me an email telling me my home insurance went up $120 and they have increased the deductible to $1000 from $500, I have never had a claim EVER on my house or car, they should not be allowed to change deductibles without consent , they offered to put the deductible back to $500 for another $40. They are also charging interest if you use the monthly payment plan,,, they did not do that before!!! I am not amused, I look at insurance companies as licensed thieves!!
