Go elsewhere!

I wish I could give them 0 stars! Terrible customer service and very expensive. I got a quote from another company, almost $2000 cheaper. I have now gone elsewhere!

Horrible! Stay away!

Six months ago my hot water tank broke. Still waiting for their contractors to come and repair my basement. It was supposed to be done in February - it is now May 2022! Terrible customer service hires the cheapest contractors and doesn't deliver. Completely unorganized, no follow up and don't seem to care as long as you pay your premiums and the deductible. What about the time the customer has to take off work and the inconvenience to wait for people who never show up? Don't expect any service from these people.

Cancelled

by JimmyC on Apr 4, 2022
2 out of 5 stars

After 20 years of being a customer (with zero claims) both business and personal I received a call noting that because my primary residence was not insured with Promutuel then the other building would not be renewed. I have cancelled my truck, trailer and house and will never use Promutuel again for any business or personal insurance requirements.

Households in Alberta pay, on average, approximately $60/month in homeowners’ insurance costs. We can help to push these costs even further down. Get a house insurance quote today to start saving today. Rates start at $20/month.

Bad claim experience

If you are looking for a company that will give you a duct tape result solution in fixing your home, you have come to the right place. Considering that a car hit our backyard and destroyed our fence and storage house, the insurance decided to pay for a portion of the fence. They do not take into consideration inflation on your items so if it costs $5000 10 years ago, they will get you the same thing with a value of $5000 today when it should be a lot more expensive with the material cost going up. Since we were not at fault, the insurance company shouldn't be the one paying for the damages but they are still giving us the cheap option while the contracted inspector gave a way higher estimation on the material cost. Our neighbours insurer gave them an option of taking the money to go find a contractor for the construction work, whereas this company requires you to find a contractor with a license or they will only give you 65% of the claimed money. Better off finding a better insurer

Buyer Beware

by thisoldhouse on Jun 14, 2019

My insurance broker of 27 years suddenly became a Promutual Agent. They assured me they were the most reasonable company and I should stay with them. During a wind storm, a live branch broke off a healthy tree and damaged my neighbour's shed (small claim of < $5000). The claim took almost 1 year to settle during which time I received several letters from the neighbour's insurance company demanding payment and threatening legal action. (not cool and the Promutual Claims adjuster said it was normal)... Finally, they settled and Promutual paid. I asked for a letter of confirmation and never got it. Then, a year later, I get an inspection (called a prevention visit) during which quite a lot of issues were found some justifiable and some less so, nevertheless I was fully prepared to make all the requested repairs, but instead 3 weeks letter I get a phone call cancelling my insurance and giving me only 15 days to find a new company. A situation is extremely stressful. Not enough time for me to make the necessary repairs. (In the US they give you 45 days) If you have an older home that is always needing repairs, beware.

Worst ever

I had a flood in my house and the cause was an old joint solder because the house is built in 1968. The insurance company told me that it's due to freeze, even before checking it. Then they sent their inspector, and when he saw the pipe, he told me no its not due to freeze, its due to bad old joint solder, between them saying it was a freeze and then sending the inspector, 3 weeks had already passed. Then they said ok, you are covered, then, after 2 weeks, they resent me a SURPRISE letter saying that they will send an engineer to recheck the pipes. And, of course, the engineer came and while we were talking he said they sent me to try to find something cause the bill is too big for them and of course his judgment was favor to the insurance. So now its been about 9 months back and forth, I brought my own engineer and he said, no, it is not freeze. So now I am waiting for their response after that if they are still on their idea, I’m going to court. Worst insurance ever.
