Water Plus - Denied Claim

The worst most vindictive company I have ever dealt with! We called them we had water leaking in our basement. They said to call a plumber, ” but we won’t pay for it”! My husband said that he has to break through the wall first to see where this leaking. They said - "We won’t pay for the drywall!" This is with replacement cost? We ended up fixing everything ourselves! Thank God we had the money.
I had to make 2 claim experiences with this company and both were horrible. My basement flooded and the quality of the repairs were terrible. The hail destroyed my roof and fence and they denied the claim saying it was normal wear and tear. This is a bad company. Save your money and go with a reputable company!

I’ve been a customer for 5 years and never made a claim. Peace Hills Insurance (PHI) denied my claim for water damage in my basement. I was surprised to learn that groundwater from extreme rainfall is not covered under their “Water Plus” package. Water Plus is marketed as a “comprehensive water damage protection package”. However, surface water infiltration IS covered, and in fact, groundwater damage is covered as long as there is some surface water as well (seems like they’re splitting hairs here). Anyway, after my adjuster decided that 100% of the damage was caused by groundwater PHI denied my claim. I hired an independent inspector to dig through my walls for a second opinion which included actually going behind wall coverings (something the PHI adjuster did NOT do). This inspection produced strong evidence of surface water penetration in several locations (moisture meter showed the water was still present!). I spoke with a manager at PHI and informed him of this new evidence. He told me that PHI was unlikely to change positions even if I submitted this new report. He then questioned the competence of my independent, third-party inspector. I told him that his inspector could go to my house right now and see for himself, but the supervisor just continued to be unhelpful and refused to listen to my reasonable suggestions. Do not use Peace Hills Insurance, unless you like fighting email/telephone battles for days on end. The worst part, the representative who was managing my claim still has not contacted me despite numerous calls and emails. Do yourself a favour, avoid doing any business with PHI. Instead, donate your money to a good cause.
