Liars and cheats

I called Allstate to get a monthly payment deferred, as money is tight right now during the COVID 19 pandemic. I was told to call back within 4-10 business days to process the deferral and was assured my bank account would not automatically be charged as it normally is every month. I wake up today and check my bank account to see they have charged me. That was the last bit of money I had this money just to EAT, and now I have nothing. I called them back and they said it doesn't matter what the last person told me, most likely they cannot refund the payment and even if they can it will take another 4-10 days - so I guess they’re ok with me starving for a week. Thieves!

Very bad experience

I am very sad to say that I had a horrible experience with Allstate car insurance claim. I submitted a claim in January 2020 and waited a month for my claim to be closed. I have been calling almost every day to check the status of the claim and it was "still under investigation" with no quote and nothing. I explained to them that I have a baby girl and need to get the car repaired asap. It was completely frustrating, I was feeling so anxious and stressed and just wanted them to close it asap just to move forward. In the end, they didn't end up paying for the claim due to some complications. It is disappointing because I felt like they didn't care that I have a small baby in the car. Another note I wanted to bring up is that their app mirror me is not working properly. I submitted the pictures but they kept saying they never received it, etc... and that they have system problems, etc. This is not my problem... they should be able to give me an answer and the agents on the phone had no clue as each one of them kept saying different things. I ended up going to a garage and paying for the cost on my own. I am very unhappy with this experience and suggest to avoid them at all costs.

Do not go with them!

I have been with Allstate Insurance for almost 2 years. I moved addresses, with a difference of about 45 minutes. Allstate then informed me that my premium would be over $800 dollars over the next 2 months. It was previously $199 a month. I then advised them that I would be cancelling my insurance. They told me I would have to come into their office to terminate my insurance. Their business hours were the same hours that I worked. I then took time off of work and drove 30 minutes to the closest Allstate office. I got there and it was closed. I called the office and they informed me that they were by appointment only. The agent that I spoke to then told me that I could terminate my insurance simply by emailing them a termination letter with my signature. At this point, I had already spoken with half a dozen agents, none of which had told me I could terminate via email. I then asked if there would be a termination fee. The agent I spoke to informed me that I would actually be reimbursed $249. I terminated with Allstate and signed with another company. It had been about 6 weeks and I will have not received my reimbursement cheque. I had been corresponding with an agent via email about my reimbursement over these 6 weeks and she ensured me that it would arrive shortly. Finally, I had enough and I called Allstate. The next agent then told me I owed Allstate $173 and that I would not be receiving my reimbursement cheque. I have had nothing but problems with this company. The majority of the agents that I spoke to were rude and did not seem to want to help. I was offered little to no explanation as to why the refund was cancelled and that I now owed them money. Do not go with Allstate Insurance! They do not take care of their customers and personally, they left me much worse off than I would have been had I gone with another company.

Did you know that on average Ontario drivers with good driving records pay $1,805/year in auto insurance? Is your insurance rate higher? Get a free car insurance quote and start saving today.

Getting hit by Allstate

Was t-boned on a rainy day by a nice enough lady, but the kicker is it was 7 weeks ago... yes 7 weeks. Oh and today is the first time I was called by the company claims advisor. I was waiting to hear from the adjuster but I guess this advisor will do. Damage to my car 3700 and change. They told me they will pay me 2500 cash settlement or we can go the insurance route to fix the car. Why did it take 7 weeks? Why then pay for half the labour on the car (well because you have the choice to fix it or not). I’m sorry did you cause 3700 in damage.... then pay the 3700 regardless if I choose to fix it or not. Don’t know if that’s an industry standard but I think it’s garbage. So I’m going to make them pay more now out of spite. And I hope I leave this review to hurt their business and to draw clients away. 7 weeks and you wanna pay me less, add insult to fiscal injury... umm NOPE

Unhappy Victim

My mother, of whom I am the caregiver, was a passenger in a vehicle during a collision. The driver at fault has Allstate Insurance. Allstate refused to pay her medical bills or injuries due to the driver not having business insurance. What is my 72-year-old Mom supposed to do? The driver was transporting her to a center for the disabled when he collided with an 18 wheeler. The Adjuster for Allstate suggested that we use my insurance with Geico to pay the expenses. Really?? My mom is not on my policy, she can’t drive.

Unfair business practices

by Simona Besnea, M. Eng, P.Eng, PMP on Feb 6, 2018

We had a very disappointing experience with Allstate. It is the first time that an insurance company asked us for a 1-month premium upfront (deposit) only to allow pre-authorized monthly payments. Monthly payments are common practice and should not be perceived as a "privilege". In addition, Allstate should be very clear and transparent that the amount is not refundable if the policy is cancelled in the first few months. Given the termination on short basis, the premium also goes up significantly. The collection of money upfront, it is not only unjustified but also unethical, given that the money is very likely invested by Allstate and earning interest that the customers will never see. I would call that a predatory practice.

Ripped off for many years

by Mike on Jan 24, 2018

I have been with Allstate Insurance since 1986. I have always had good service from them. For the last 20 or so years, I have had 6 cars, a utility trailer, 2 motorcycles, and 2 homes insured with Allstate. Of course, they always made sure we were aware of all the perks and discounts that we were receiving by having so many vehicles and our homeowners combined. There was never a reason to look outside of Allstate for insurance. I just figured with multiple policies, discounts, etc., that Allstate was the company for me. Boy was I wrong. I just looked into switching to Travelers insurance and I saved almost $3000/year just for the vehicles. That is unbelievable. I figured that I could save a few hundred dollars but $3000? No wonder Allstate provided us with such good service - THEY WERE RIPPING US OFF FOR OVER 20 YEARS. It really does not pay to be a loyal consumer these days. I would not recommend Allstate to anybody. Shame on you Allstate. Let the consumer beware.

All State worst ever

I am writing to express my unfair treatment from your All State regarding an accident.
I was bought my car 4 months ago, i was involve in an accident which i was not at fault, my car ride off also i paid the insurance to cover the car and passengers and the concept of insurance is to cover the loss , I was expected to compensated by them ,but this treatment absolutely doesn't make sense for someone who is not at fault and paid the insurance without interruption. they screw me $4000.
Imagine without any fault you lost your car and needs to cover the gap from your own pocket

If you have a good driving record in AB, you should pay around $110/month (women - $105/month and men - $113/month). Do you overpay? Get an Alberta car insurance quote to start saving.

Deceptive

by Fooled twice on Aug 28, 2017

If you have an auto quote and request a quote for a replacement or additional vehicle, they will quote you from that day until your existing renewal date. They will not tell you this nor inform you of this in any way, shape, or form until your renewal comes due. You then find out that the quote was for 4 or 6 or whatever months and not for 12 months insurance as you had mistakenly assumed. Totally unethical! Furthermore, they charge you in full for the change immediately (before you catch on to their deception) and then take the new renewal amount from your bank on a date other than your regular withdrawal date. The entire scam is all legal, and very carefully worked out to essentially sell you product that you would never agree to having known the facts. They do this to clients that have been with them for 20 years. They simply have absolutely no long-term vision. Bucks right now is all they care about. Don't give a darn about their clients.
