Went through 3 representatives to try to cancel my insurance. Given wrong information, no one followed up and nothing was done. They now owe me close to $1000 dollars and no one can give me a date when it will be returned to me. Apparently no one is in charge of anything either. Now its right before Christmas and I will need to go into debt. Way to go Allstate- your lack of accountability to your long term customers is downright disgusting. Stay away.
I had a very bad experience with Allstate.
I purchased a car insurance with Allstate, but I get an additional "property insurance" which is about rental property or something. It was the agent "told" (not recommend) me to buy (I don't even have a rental house, or a room), I was told it helps to reduce insurance price, but actually it did increased my payment every time (extra $42.28/month)!!!
when I sold my car and need to cancel insurance, the agent just gave me a number to call then never contact me again. I called to cancel the car's insurance and the property insurance, 2 weeks later, they finally canceled the car's, but keeping charging me for the property insurance. I called again (the connecting is always waiting for long time), and I was confirmed it canceled, and I was told that they need to contact another department. One month later, I found I was still charged through my credit card. I had to call again, the girl said the cancelation is still in progress. I have no words at all.
I am still waiting....
Did you know that on average Ontario drivers with good driving records pay $1,805/year in auto insurance? Is your insurance rate higher? Get a free car insurance quote and start saving today.
I was with Allstate for 31 years and recently was told they would not insure my 18 yr old son because he has a license suspension (made a poor decision as a teenager as we all have). They forced me to sign an agreement stating that he would not drive my car. Fine. Then a few months later 1 month before renewal of my auto insurance they told me they were discontinuing my insurance as the underwriters had deemed me "at risk" because I had two claims, one over 6 yrs ago and the other in 2022, even though their policy says they remove collision claims within 6 yrs. I had 4 ticket (speeding, and failing to yield, 2018, 2021, 2023). So this I guess is the limit of their service and coverage for a client. Now I have cancelled my auto and tenant insurance and leaving them. What a joke. What is the point of getting insurance if they have a low limit on what you can be actually covered for. Where are the rights of the client/customer, when they are high priced, gouging and moving forward with repairs of $20k on an accident that my car is literally worth a smidge more. Not a great insurance company at all. One would think they would look at customer loyalty, and have more reasonable restrictions. THE WORST! Customer service is poor, rules are a complete joke. Insurers need more rights against these money hungry insurance companies.
I moved, changed my address with a representative, apparently he didn't change it on their system and allstate was trying to contact me to let me know there's a 65$ outstanding balance. I never received the letter as I moved and received a call saying as of yesterday your policy was canceled and you can't drive... no warning, absolutely terrible customer service. Talked to a manager to try to straighten it out and was told I'd receive further information after she looked into it. Still waiting several weeks with no response.
Terrible customer service! they don't take any responsibility and try to blame you for the lack of communication and customer service. I prepaid my insurance for months in advance, I knew it was about to expire on September. I was ready to renew the insurance and when I call to pay on Sep. 15th they told me that my insurance expired on September 9th. So I was driving without any insurance and nobody called me or notified me of anything! I was very upset with the situation. But they just asked me if I wanted to renew or not. Not apology or any effort of making up to me. Zero customer service. I won't recommend them at all. I also had several problems with them before. But that was to worse one.
I was a good client for years. Always paid on time but I recently went through a medical trauma and was unable to pay one time on time and I was removed. I paid the remainder of my fee soon after and they said I could get back in but after several calls to them I was told that I was not accepted. I waited months to hear from them and they couldn’t be bothered to tell me. I would never recommend this terrible insurance company.
I called Allstate twice and was sent in circles. I was told to email. That got no response. What they don't tell you when you get your renewal letter is... Even if you cancel in writing before the renewal date, they will still take your money and you have to wait at least two weeks to get it back! My insurance was renewed in September, got my renewal in the mail less than a month before my renewal date. I canceled right away and was told it didn't matter the payment was scheduled two months before my renewal date in July...
Beware it’s a nightmare dealing with them!
Called in on April to get a quote consolidated with my partner. Without the account holder's approval (my husband) they added me to the account for the renewal. I am currently insured with another company.
To clean up THEIR mess, I was asked to provide my insurance slips which I did and then they asked me for my entire policy! Why do they need my personal information to clean up their mess?
It’s SO easy to add a person to their account but NOT SO easy to remove a person.
Numerous calls to the calls center and they escalated the issue and the agent even mentioned they will have the manager contact me within 72 hours. This was on September 25, 22. So, 4 days passed, and no phone calls.
Today, I called in to check on the status. They were supposed to remove me from the policy not only that they CANCELLED the entire policy!
A horrible experience with Allstate.
If you have a good driving record in AB, you should pay around $110/month (women - $105/month and men - $113/month). Do you overpay? Get an Alberta car insurance quote to start saving.
My father who is 76 years and a widower originally called to have my mother removed from the policy. They had both home and car insurance. We provided the death certificate and hired a lawyer to have my mom’s name removed from the house deed I order to have the policy in just my father’s name. With that done we thought everything was fine; until the wiring on his vehicle was chewed through by rodents. He submitted a claim and then they wanted to charge him an extra $500.00 a year because of a so-called accident. He explained that he never had an accident. But to them, the wire harness is an accident not comprehensive like other insurance companies. He got a quote from another insurance company which was way cheaper and this situation is covered by the new policy. When trying to cancel his policy with Allstate they want copies of the death certificate for my mother, a letter from the executor of my mother’s will explaining the reason for cancellation (remember my mother has passed and can’t give a reason), a letter from my dad explaining why he wants to cancel, a copy of the new insurance policy from the new provider. This has been almost 3 months and they continue to charge him for insurance. The original death certificate was given to Allstate over a year ago and last year we dealt with having mom removed from the insurance. They only looked at the house insurance and didn’t deal with the car until he tried to cancel. Over a year later. This is harassment. He is now paying for 2 insurance policies because Allstate took another payment out of his account.
If you are insured with All State insurance beware. They are very fast at taking your money but impossible to get a refund. I have canceled 3 policies 3 months ago. All I get from them is more forms to fill or more letters asking for the same things. What is more frustrating is that even knowing that I cancel the policies 3 months ago they still take money out of my account each month. I am frustrated and I will be filing a complaint with the Ombudsman office very shortly.
