They are quick to raise rates with no claims but impossible to get a hold of on the phone. Waiting in queue for an hour now.
Trying to get through is a nightmare. I did find a trick though, if you go online and go through the process to get an online quote, at the end there is an option to have someone call you. And it works every time. They call within seconds. Apparently new potential customers get quicker attention that their long time loyal customers!!!!!

After two decades with TD MM and without any tickets or claims, they raised my auto insurance by $1,000. They believed that there had been a mistake, explained that they would re-underwrite the policy and call me back within a week. Having not heard from them I called them twice without resolution (each time you call is approximately one hour of wait time on the phone. I re-priced the policy and found equivalent coverage for $1,000 less (the price of my previous policy with TD MM) and called to cancel my policy (as well as my homeowner's policy). TD MM wanted to charge a fee of $12 to cancel my $85 to cancel my homeowner's policy. So after 20 years of insurance coverage with TD MM, an unexplained increase of $1,000 to my auto policy, unfulfilled promises to return a call with an explanation, over four hours of waiting on the phone, they believe it appropriate to charge nearly $100 in fees to terminate uncompetitive policies. Surely, there are better alternatives to TD MM.
Horrible insurance company. I had them for car and home insurance. Never do business with them even if the rates seem reasonable at first.
As everyone said, wait times are ridiculous, it's by far the worst I've ever experience. Multiple times I was on hold for 1-1.5 hours, I just gave up.
They also overcharged me $900 on my car insurance, when I received the renewal documents I noticed they'd had my sister's accident on my policy. I've never had an accident. Even though they admitted it as their mistake, they would only give me $300 back of MY $900.
Also, my rates jumped significantly every year, and you can't get ahold of them to discuss it because of the disgusting wait times...
Never have dealt with a business that is so pathetic. Hours of wait times if you need to change a policy etc. For the amount of money they make, would it kill them to hire a couple more customer support reps??
Been with them for over 20 years, not impressed with their $25 late fees when they are the ones that do not answer the phone when I want to pay by credit card, been disconnected 3 or 4 times after 8 hour waits

Have been insured for well over 10 years with TD Meloche Monnex. Have had many issues with inconsistency on claims & rates. The recent interaction was the icing on the cake. Called for a quote on a new car & verified coverage, got a reference number in case of issue & when we called back to provide the new car VIN number, the quote jumped up to $1,000. Talked to a manager & he advised that he could not honour the quote given as the advisor had made a mistake. The price quoted was not competitive given we were to receive a multiple car discount, house insurance discount, University Alumni discount. So very frustrating & this was the second incident of bait & switching prices in 3 months with TD. DO NOT TRUST THIS COMPANY. They are aware of fluctuating quotes and will not honour prices given.
They increase premiums every year unreasonably. This year they have added an installment fee of $48 if you don't pay the annual fee at once. They don't give you any credit even if you are an essential worker, who has to go to work. Only the people at home get the advantage of keeping the car parked.
In fact, this year traffic on roads is less. But they have increased the premium by 20% without any claim, ticket or an accident from my end.

Submitted video evidence when a truck spewed dirt out of the back and cracked in my windshield. They record on my claims experience letter as "other", initially they recorded it as accident, keep in mind the truck was at no time anywhere near my vehicle . Either way, they're causing the value of my car to be depreciated.
After a month and a half of chasing them down trying to fix their mistake, I'm told they can't list all the work that was done, and can only list it as "other - flying objects", like??? They say "We cannot hide information on letters of experience." Isn't that exactly what they're doing by listing it as other???
Run, don't walk, and don't give these criminals your money! They seem to be gouging their customers, I suspect trying to make up for the lawsuits against them for overcharging customers our west and not paying out travel insurance claims... Do a little homework if you're considering choosing them, you'll be glad you did.
Customer service wait times are 1h or longer, and don't blame COVID, it's been like that as far as I remember (probably over 3 years). Every time I call I need something it's 1-1.5 wait on the phone.
Irresponsible management. I am starting to shop around for a different insurance company and will be telling all my friends to stay away from you!
