Terrible Company

Avoid avoid avoid! I used PC insurance and somehow the broker signed me up on Aviva. From day 1, it was one issue after another. From them missing my banking details (I set up auto-deposit) which I don't even know how it became possible since I provided a void check so no payment was withdrawn the first month. When someone called me she tried to patronize me claiming how they are going to be waving aside the NFS charge for me which I instantly reminded her that it can't be my fault when they had a void check and still managed to miss a number, this led to them rating my payment again and it went up from 254 to 274 and them billing me for 3 months claiming I needed to pay in advance. I should have cancelled the damned thing at that point. Upgrades my car 5 months down the line, called to get a quote and got a ridiculous amount in the $700 so I asked for it to be cancelled. The agent told me I'd either get a refund check or instructions on how to pay if I'm found owing, I figured I was going to get a refund since I paid in advance of one month and still had some days left in the month from my last payment. But nope, instead, I got a mail telling me they will be billing $266 directly from my bank. I wondered why that amount and why instead of getting their banking details as the agent claimed I was going to be billed directly. I called and spoke to an agent who claimed they'd review and get back to me within 2 days. I never heard from any agent no Aviva till they took my money some days ago. Please avoid this company, either their agents aren't knowledgeable or they outrightly lie to meet their sales target. They don't care about their customers and are only interested in taking and taking from you.
Terrible company after being with this insurance for 3 years they increase my insurance by 100%. I cancelled my policy and then two weeks after, they were still deducting from my account!
Dishonest company. They issued us boat insurance 3 weeks ago, pulled money out of our account, and today our broker calls us and tells us that we aren't covered because the boat is old. Aviva actually went ahead and verbally added a clause in our contract with our broker saying that they want a water survey. Sorry, that's not binding. The contract was signed 3 weeks ago and all requirements and pictures were accepted. Scummy practices.
I just got a registered letter from Aviva stating I had to submit a "WRITTEN APPLICATION FOR REVIEW AND ACCEPTANCE". Without this form, my policy would not be renewed. Also, FULL PAYMENT must be made if accepted. I spoke to an agent 2 weeks prior to receiving this notice and there was no mention of this ridiculousness. He updated my existing insurance with my new details and I got my pink slip in the mail. Today, I called them again to find out why I was getting such a letter and the rep. indicated that I was picked randomly and this is a NEW LAW in ALBERTA - which I think he said to get me off the phone #fakenews. I will be filing a complaint and will start looking elsewhere for auto insurance. I have a clean driving recording & have been driving for 15 years. This does not add up - they are up to something.
Do yourself a big favour and avoid Aviva at all costs. Unacceptable customer service, insane wait times to speak to advisors. Some we have documented 78 minutes wait time to speak to an advisor. Insulting and actually disgusting how we were treated, even got hung up on a few times. Yes, they actually hung up and said: we are now closed, goodbye. THEN my wife's 2004 Chevy Tahoe was stolen and we were treated like criminals. They stated that the vehicle's ignition wasn't compromised the usual way that their appraiser is used to seeing. Not my problem. We were treated as suspects and were victimized worse by Aviva. They even had the nerve to ask for bank records, income tax files, even phone records couldn't believe it. We ended up settling for way below replacement value after 7 months of going back and forth. They make 1 offer and if you don't like it, too bad. We got $4100 to replace our Tahoe and had to spend $7500 to obtain a comparable vehicle. Really the worst experience with an insurance provider ever. They just make up the rules as they go. You have been warned folks, the reviews are true.
Did you know that on average Ontario drivers with good driving records pay $1,805/year in auto insurance? Is your insurance rate higher? Get a free car insurance quote and start saving today.
I was in an accident in December 2018. An accident that was NOT my fault. I was seriously injured and still have not returned to work and will be unable to return to my health care aide position for some time due to an arm injury leaving me unable to do any heavy lifting moving etc. Aviva has given me the biggest runaround to college disability and I still have not received any money to this day (February 14/19). Every time I contact them, I wait a week for a response where I get another excuse as to what I need to fix etc. I have asked questions to try to complete stuff once with no mistakes. I am then sent back for this or that or told they did not receive items even when I can clearly see the mail was delivered. Do not use this company because if you are ever in need of their support for an accident you did not cause, they will screw you and leave you to either work when you're unable or be completely screwed on your financial responsibilities.
I have been insured with RBC for years and didn't have any issue! I've been driving for more than 10 yrs and for the first time my insurance was cancelled! I received an email on Oct. 30, 2018, regarding a missed payment for Oct.15, 2018 and a note on the bottom to disregard the email if payment has been made. I could've disregarded the email but rather replied informing them of an online payment made Oct. 17, 2019. I didn't receive any calls, nor email assuming everything is okay. I have been trying to contact them since the day I moved to the new address as I wanted to get home insurance. Called several times and on hold for 40mins-1h. One day I decided to press the key that corresponds to the sales department. My call was answered in less than two mins. The agent was unable to give me a quote as I have an existing car insurance and someone will give me a callback. I provided him with my new address so they would have an idea. Anyhow, I called back in Dec. 2018 to get a home insurance quote as no one ever called or emailed me! This is the day I was informed that my car insurance was cancelled effective Nov. 20, 2018, as late fees $40 were not included on that payment I have made online! The 2 registered emails were mailed and returned. Yet they had sent me my $150 refund through same mail! Hello?? All I hear is computer generated! Yes, blame it on the computer! Insurance cancelled >> computer generated! What's the point of having employees if everything is generated by a computer?? They didn't even bother trying to take that $40 on my bank account that obviously I will call them if I had just made a payment! I drive my kids to school not knowing I no longer have a car insurance! MY CAR INSURANCE HAS MORE THAN DOUBLED JUST BECAUSE OF $40? It's already a struggle for a single parent to make ends meet then THANKS TO AVIVA FOR ADDING UP TO MY PROBLEMS!!!
Same as everybody else, these forms are nonsense! If you pose a question that says “if so”, a blank response means NO! I just resent my forms back in! Apparently, they cancelled my insurance on Jan.24th, the same day as they mailed the letter! But they did take my monthly payment out, oh and the auto reply says that they will respond in 2-4 weeks! RBC needs to find a new insurer!
If you have a good driving record in AB, you should pay around $110/month (women - $105/month and men - $113/month). Do you overpay? Get an Alberta car insurance quote to start saving.
Well, where to start? I got into an accident by running a red light as a cop was pushing me through. The whole intersection was stopped except one lane. All lanes on my side were blocked with two or three cars and the cop came behind me and started to use the pullover sound, so I moved up and the cop was still pushing me, so I moved up again and he was still pushing, so I started panicking a little. I proceeded to throw the intersection. The car came out of nowhere and t-boned me. To make a long story short, my car was a write-off. They paid off what I owed on the car. So it came back as I'm at fault even though the cop pushed me through Aviva and said: don't worry about it as you have a forgive and forget, no problem. At the end of the year this person sent me this paper that I had to fill out and hand it in about a month I think it was. So I filled it out and sent it in, they said I messed up on some number or something on the document and they cancelled my auto insurance. So now I was forced to go to different insurance with a major accident paying out the nose. I'm married and have three kids: 13, 9, 5 and I'm the only income for us. Up 'till that accident I never had a claim with them or any insurance company. I've been driving since 1992, do the math. I need my car to go to work as I'm a construction worker, so I work different places every other week or two and now with this new insurance, I'm at high risk. This government in Ontario, never mind Canada, have to do something with this insurance thieves. It all good when you're with them for years and years and don't get into an accident but as long as you put in a claim, it's bye-bye. Anyway, please stay away from these guys. They don't care about anything. They don't care if you and your kids starve as long as they eat

I received a price quote for my auto and home in May for my July 17 renewal. I accepted the quote and paid in full on or before the due date. About 2 weeks later, I get another bill from them for $11.00 which they said was a COVID adjustment. No big deal. Then, a full month after my renewal, I get yet another bill from them for $122.00. There was no explanation, just said renewal (adjusted). I called and they explained that for me to get a COVID rebate (wow, $36 for 3 months), they had reduced my mileage to 1,000 km. and then, after the COVID period was over, they had to manually re-adjust to my normal mileage of 5000 km. The COVID rebate ended June 21, my policy renewed in July. Furthermore, when they send out the renewal in May, they knew the COVID rebate expired before my renewal. I pointed out to them that they quoted me one rate then charged me another, even wrote a letter to their ombudsman asking for a pro-rata refund because I don't want to do business with a company that operates like this. I was told too bad. I'm stuck with them for almost another year. DON'T DO BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY! That's my advice and hopefully, it will prevent anyone else from having to go through the same situation I've had to deal with.
