Will not would not advise anyone to use this insurance company

by Crossfire on Jul 26, 2024

Very poor customer service. You’re lucky to hear from them once a week, dragging the situation out and absolutely low ball you. They sell you 1500 in car rental but can’t use it all cause as soon as they send you an offer they end all outgoing money in one week. Even if you’re unsatisfied. They also make it so hard to get a hold of that you just run out of time to settle. I run a business and will be sharing my experience with all business platforms that I am a part of so they don’t have my experience.

They took about $1000 out of my back account without my consent, this is not right all I can say is that this should be Canadians last option when it come to any type of insurance including vehicle.

Stay away from Aviva like plague

by Mark on Aug 14, 2022

Once you give them your payment information, they charge you for anything that you want & there is nobody to answer you, no contact# phone or person who can be reached easily or provide you with a satisfactory answer.
Their offices, which have no valuables, money or... is more restricted than even military nuclear weapon facilities.
After a dispute with Aviva for baselessly charging me around $1,700, we decided to settle the dispute with a payment of $1,059.65 by Aviva to me.
I received the cheque from Aviva (which was sent wrong address) & deposited it in my account.
Shortly after I noticed a "Payment Stopped" by Aviva has withdrawn the funds from my account shortly after deposit.
Upon checking with the bank it was confirmed that Aviva has instructed to stop the payment.

Aviva Insurance terrible company

by Cindy Berdux on Jan 4, 2022

I am fed up with Aviva Insurance! They gave me two nsfs so far by taking more money than they were supposed to take even the bank said it wasn't supposed to be that much and one time charging for two vehicles not one. Well, this morning it happened again they were taking 280 for January 1 but took 390 so it's time to fire Aviva they are the worse company and a rip off we are cancelling with them today!

Policy Renewal

by DKJW on Aug 13, 2021
1 out of 5 stars

My previous insurer cancelled my policy for “non-payment” after failing to make the appropriate changes to my policy, causing payment NSF (I am still fighting to get this overturned). The best rate available was AVIVA. I signed up for a monthly policy and made my payments online BEFORE the due date to make sure no mistakes would happen again, as with the previous insurer. After 1 year with them, and ZERO LATE PAYMENTS, they are REFUSING me as a client UNLESS I pay the FULL 1 YEAR TERM IN ADVANCE!!!! Not tickets. No accidents. CZ license. 24 years of driving experience. They got every penny they were owed BEFORE it was due. And my reward is “Pay $2100 by September 5”, or take your business elsewhere. UNBELIEVABLE!

Garbage

My policy was cancelled without warning because I had a partial non payment on the file that I didn't even KNOW happened... I had called in last month to update my direct deposit schedule and no one informed me then that there was an old $50 outstanding payment and that it wouldn't even go through because my account was set up to be cancelled. Today they informed me that the only way I can create a new policy is to pay the entire premium for the year upfront. TERRIBLE communication. I am furious.

Over Priced

by CIndy D on Nov 27, 2020

I have both my auto and property insurance with Aviva and now with the pandemic, I started looking around for better rates. Doing my research I found better coverage for both policies and for much cheaper, saving approx. $1000 per year. Therefore calling to cancel mid-term my policies with Aviva I am told that Aviva's short-term calculator indicates a 22% charge when my understanding from other mortgage brokers that the industry standard is 8-10%max. I want people to beware of these outstanding charges and think twice before joining Aviva. Do your research as there is way better out there. The best part of it all is that we were told we are getting a firefighter discount as well but how can that be when we are overpaying If I could give 0 stars rating I would.

50 NSF fee

by mike on Oct 7, 2020
1 out of 5 stars

We got a letter in the mail a few days ago. They said that they were unable to charge my credit card, and they are charging me a $50 NSF fee? The monthly insurance is only $35.66. When we called them to dispute this ridiculous fee, they said that we had to contact our bank (RBC Visa) and find out why the charge was declined. They would only return the $50 IF the bank accepted responsibility for the error. Very odd customer service, but on to the next step. I called my bank, and while there was plenty of room on the credit card, they said that Aviva had been using a credit card that had a 2017 expiry date on it for the past 3 years of charges. The Aviva representative explained that they had some sort of agreement with RBC/Moneris that expired cards will still be honored, which is why it was still working for 3 years. Well as of the last charge, it stopped working for them. Aviva told us it was due to "insufficient funds", but the bank says it was because they used a 2017 expiry date that was no longer accepted. I believe what happened: RBC Visa just issued me a new card, and the 2017 old one stopped working. The weird part here is it looks like Aviva may have recently updated their system because when I first called in they told me that had the card on file with the 2024 expiry (which we never provided to them), which PROVES that they have an agreement between RBC Insurance and RBC Visa to automatically update the expiry dates when new cards are issued. My concern here is not so much over the personal $50 charge but is for the thousands of Canadians that are being charged $50 NSF fees by Aviva / RBC Insurance when a credit card doesn't work. Through our company, we have over 100 monthly credit card charges that come through, and occasionally, they bounce for whatever reason. Not once have I see a company charge us anything for that... they simply send us a notification and let us know they will try the card again in X days, or warn us that service may be interrupted after a certain date. Does anyone know the name of the government bureau that I can write to about this? Does this $50 fee for an expired expiry date seem ethical? Yes, I know that when you get a new card, it is up to you to reach out to all of your vendors, BUT every single other vendor simply lets me know they need the new #, and I've never once been charged an NSF fee for that.

Go with Anyone else

Just like the old saying, you get what you pay for. I chose Aviva 3 years ago because they had the best rate. (Actually, my broker did) I have since learned saving a few dollars is not always worth it. Aviva has terrible customer service. A while back my friend asked me if she could borrow my car for an hour to drop some stuff off at her mom's house for Easter. I said sure no problem. Unfortunately, she ended up getting in an accident (it wasn't her fault, another driver went through a red light). Called and reported it and started the claims process. Over the next few weeks, I kept getting calls from different people at Aviva asking the same questions over and over. I said I already gave you all the details and answered these questions can't you just refer to your notes instead of wasting my time? They said well the notes weren't made correctly and that was the reason for calling and asking again. 3 times apparently. Next thing I know my claim has been denied, for non-cooperation during the claims process. I couldn't believe it. It gets better. 3 weeks later I get a letter in the mail saying my insurance is cancelled for misrepresentation. I called to ask them to elaborate and they said we think you're friend was driving the car on a regular basis! Again, I was blown away. Completely ridiculous and couldn't be further from the truth. That friend had never used my car ever before that time, Aviva simply was pulling at strings finding any little loophole they could try to exploit to get out of having to pay the claim. The sad thing was the claim was only going to be around $2500 as the car was deemed a total loss and wasn't worth much due to its age. At 40 years old that was my first claim ever in my life! Perfectly clean driving record with no tickets, accidents or claims prior, my payments are always made every month without missing one ever and this is how I get treated, like a criminal. This is the most despicable company I've ever come across in my life. Stay far away, even if the other insurance quote is $10 more a month, it's worth it! It's not possible that you'll get any worse service from anyone else, it simply isn't possible.
