I received the 5-page form by registered mail to renew my auto insurance with Aviva. I’ve been with RBC insurance for 19 years. I have one month to return the form. After reading comments on this forum, I called RBC and spent over an hour filling form, so as to avoid problems. Who knows what algorithm triggered this? This is an awful way to do business. I called a broker and provided them with the same information for a quote. I’ve had it with dealing with an insurance company that treats me so shabbily. I called them last fall to get a quote on a new trailer. I wanted to sell my existing one and buy a new one. In mid-policy, they cancelled my trailer insurance while I was on the phone. I got it back, but it took hours on the phone. I promptly sold my trailer and did not replace it. I find that Aviva is very fickle and unpredictable. I’m hoping that the broker comes up with something reasonable. I would like to never need to deal directly with insurance companies again.
I was insured with Aviva (through RBC) for a number of years, and we had two policies because of five vehicles (2 passenger vehicles, 2 motorcycles, and a motorhome). We were low-risk, middle-aged people whose policies were paid in full. Our policies were due for renewal, and Aviva sent us a lengthy insurance application for the one policy whereby we had to re-apply to continue to be insured with them. The other policy they renewed - no questions asked. (Is that logical?!). We filled out this lengthy application, and accidentally overlooked one question on the application. Days before our current policy expired, I contacted them to inquire about the status of our insurance renewal, only to learn they had rejected the application and cancelled our insurance policy because of this one overlooked question. We were then faced with hurrying around trying to secure insurance through another provider with only days before our current policy became invalid. One simple question. Is that how you take care of your good customers? PATHETIC!
If you have a good driving record in AB, you should pay around $110/month (women - $105/month and men - $113/month). Do you overpay? Get an Alberta car insurance quote to start saving.
For the past 8 months they have been giving me the run-around after my RV was damaged after being sunk. The unit needed to be extricated using heavy equipment and ended up being twisted out of shape and cracked. The run-around started with Aviva Elete outsourcing the adjusters job to another company. That company in-turn outsourced it to another adjuster. I have had two major licenced shops check it over and they have deemed the unit beyond repair.I have sent all documentation and photos that their adjuster provided to the factory service center and they have quoted almost $180,000.00 to repair the unit.
Their appraiser had me drive the damaged unit (which was barely derivable and unsafe) to an unlicensed shop for inspection. He then came out with a quote of $30,000.00 which they insist I take in a cash settlement and have the repairs done myself. After I complained about that they had a local shop weld together a tie rod end so that they could order me to drive it over 300 miles away to have the Aviva adjuster look at it. It was one of the most terrifying drives I have ever had to make and it took over 8 hours to complete. The adjust did not show up and I was forced to leave the unit there for him to look at and make my way back home. It has been down there for over a month now and there is no way I can drive it back without the front suspension and steering being properly repaired.
There is no shop in the world that will even consider repairing the damages for the amount that they want me to settle for. I have 8 months of unanswered calls and emails from the worst customer service you have ever had to deal with. After asking to speak to their ombudsman I was denied the right to even bring my case to him/her. I was told that I can "hire my own appraiser" and they might consider looking at their findings. My next step is to contact the General Insurance Ombudsman and see if there is any help from that end.
In the meantime, I have purchased the aviva-insurancecomplaints domain name and welcome anyone who wants to share their horror story in dealing with Aviva.
Beware, IMHO these people are as shady and heartless as it comes and you will regret the day that you ever signed up with them.
We have a $13000 claim for windstorm damage, and have been dealing with claims and ombudsman office at Aviva Elite for 10 months. Every expert who has inspected the RV - except Aviva's appraiser - agrees the damage is from outside impact and should be a covered claim. Aviva's appraiser blames the manufacturer for a defect of some kind!
Finally 2 months ago they agreed to partial coverage. We will need to go to mediation on the balance.
So, we got 2 estimates for repairing the partial coverage they agreed too - guess what, here we are 2 months later pushing for approval on the estimates so we can get the work done.
Terrible customer service! They have tried everything imaginable to delay and deny the claim.
We would rate them less than 1 star if we could.
Stay away from Aviva coverage on your RV's
I used to have insurance with this company AVIVA for 13 years and never had a claim. We have had a couple of travel trailers during our insurance with them. Unfortunately, this year 2018, we had damage to our trailer due to the weather and they would not cover it. Really hard to get someone to return your call. We were trying to get answers for several months. The reason people have insurance is to be covered when they need it. For 13 years we trusted and paid AVIVA but they are not to be trusted. Don't go to AVIVA. Save your money and put it with a company that doesn't have rude staff. The adjusters were rude, not knowledgeable, incompetent and the worst people to deal with. This company is the worst ever.
Did you know that on average Ontario drivers with good driving records pay $1,805/year in auto insurance? Is your insurance rate higher? Get a free car insurance quote and start saving today.
Have my motorhome policy through Aviva. Had some damage to one of the slides and the claim is still trying to be resolved. Their customer service sucks, I have had to keep calling and emailing them and they never get back to you. I had to call and complain to the claims manager in order to have something done for me, which I feel is totally unnecessary when submitting a claim. I have my homeowners, boat and vehicles insured through them as well and I have requested that my insurance broker rewrite these policies with a different company. My concern is what if my house burnt down and I received this same service from them, it's stressful enough to have to go through this, you don't want to have to deal with someone's laziness to do their job at the same time.
On May 13 2014 I was in an accident. Some guy did not secure his trailer gate and it came barreling across rhe highway and bounced off our driver side door and then into the driver side pillar and windsheild. Everything was handled by Aviva very quickly. The car was a write off with 7100 in damages. We were told by our adjuster that the check was being courier on May 16 2014. We called many times wondering why we had not received our check, and never received a call back. My broker finally got a hold of her and found out the check was lost in the mail. So she sent another one...and that one too was lost in the mail. We were forced to return the rental and still havent received a check to buy a new vehicle. Today, May 30, I demanded to speak to the manager. He said there was nothing that could be done, no I wasn't getting another rental, and my broker probably had the check just didnt see it on his desk. I am fed up with the run around from this joke of a company. As soon as I do get a check I WILL be switching companies. Aviva is a bunch of liars and blame every one else for their screw ups. Pick another company. Or if you stay, pray to god you never have to make a claim!!
The Aviva agent was slow to return calls, kept passing the buck to the adjuster and refused to address our concerns. It has been such a horrible experience for us our insurance agent is never selling policies by this company again. We have never felt more disrespected by a company
