Got into a write-off accident in February and had paid for first accident forgiveness with Aviva, so shouldn’t have had to pay a premium. First of all, the claim process was horrible, Kayla D, my rep, should not be in customer service. They sent my car 3 hours away before I could take my winter tires off and offered no reimbursement and it took over 1 month to get it all sorted out with me calling every other day. Now fast forward to September - they now sent me some baloney application for insurance that I had to fill out and mail back to them and no one could explain to me why I had to do this - and then because I missed something they sent back to me to fix and I filled it out again and sent back. Now because I didn’t fill out when I first received my g license (something the guy I was speaking with on the phone told me I didn’t have to worry about) they sent it back again and now won’t renew my policy because they needed it back by September 23! They just want me to pay as much as possible. My insurance doesn’t even expire until November - and now I need to wait for 2-3 business days to hear back! So ridiculous!!!
Worst company to deal with when you submit a claim. 2 months since a car accident where the other driver was at fault and charged and I still have not received a penny for my vehicle, which Aviva wrote off. On July 27, 2018, I was involved in a car accident where the other driver came out of a side street and sideswiped my vehicle. Police was called, and the other driver was charged since he was clearly at fault. Police filed a report, and, in turn, I submitted a claim with Aviva Insurance same day. Found out other driver has the same insurance company. Aviva wrote off my vehicle though damage did not seem extensive to me. They low-balled the value of my vehicle ($8,000 CDN). I made an argument that it should be more ($11,000 CDN) and submitted repair/upgrade bills to make my case. They responded that they will investigate but also pressured me into giving up my rental car within 5 days after the accident though the rental cost was way below what I was entitled to. I was subjected to 2 lengthy interviews by Aviva that were more like interrogations questioning the accident and costs. Asked for a detailed written report from me and asked for a witness signature, Commissioner for Oaths, which resulted in lawyer fees. Before I obtained the signature, I sent a filled-out form (that had no instructions) to Aviva requesting a review to ensure it was completed correctly so it would not be rejected. The review came back good. I got the signature and submitted the form. It was rejected within 3 days by Aviva. Reason: "said loss was caused by" should have said "Collision" while I wrote in "Improper left turn by another driver". I refilled it out and got a new signature which resulted in more lawyer fees. 2 weeks since I submitted and still no response. I phoned the Aviva representative several times. No response and left voicemails. It is now Sep 19 and almost 2 months since the accident and no compensation from Aviva. Next stage is to get a lawyer and start litigation. I have had insurance from Aviva for just over 10 years and paid them over $60,000 CDN in fees and this is how they treat you when you make a claim, and not a large one at that. I have since cancelled my cars insurance, house insurance and cottage insurance with Aviva. DO NOT BUY INSURANCE FROM AVIVA.
Did you know that on average Ontario drivers with good driving records pay $1,805/year in auto insurance? Is your insurance rate higher? Get a free car insurance quote and start saving today.
My first accident in 50+ years and how disappointed and frustrated I was. After booking in the claim months ahead for a small damage incident, it took two weeks for the appraiser to arrive and another two weeks for the adjuster to give the go-ahead for a very minor repair to my 5th wheel even though the insurance company was notified months ahead when the vehicle was being booked in. I got the runaround and as the old saying goes 'I can deal with honesty but have a very hard time with lies'. Everyone just kept passing the buck and made excuses why there was no action. It took a month to do a two-day repair job. I will not use Aviva again.
Terrible, incompetent, abusive. RBC Insurance was terrific until Aviva got involved. Then it went straight down the toilet. Do not consider them as your insurance provider. They will only make bad situations much, much worse.
Adjuster does not return your calls, average wait time over an hour on the phone. You need a lawyer to deal with them for your MVA. Stay away!
It is very difficult to get hold of them. At least answer the phone!
The body shop staff also told me that they were the worst insurance company.
I just got a renewal for my vehicle and it showed that the price has gone up by over 30$. I decided to give them a call before I start to look for another company. This lady from a customer service answers my call and the way she was talking to me was very unacceptable. She was being very rude and unhelpful. When I asked her why she was rude to me, she said that she is doing that because I am being rude to her!:) What a professional lady she was. When I inquired to speak to her manager, she said there is no way she can facilitate that for me and there is basically no one for me to complain about the “good service” she has provided for me!!! What a good company to have a business with! Would never recommend them to anyone!!!!
These guys are awful! We were in an accident on July 28th and we lost everything. They have not been responsive in a timely manner. Our insurance (extra premium paid) was to have full replacement cost (17,000$) however now they are saying they will pay a seller (someone that will sell us a trailer) instead of us which is just ridiculous! I would advise anyone who is thinking of insuring with this company to do their research! If I was able to do a 0 out of 5-star review, I definitely would.
To cancel a policy with RBC Aviva is a terrible experience. If you ever wish to cancel, they will make it so difficult that you wish you hadn't even tried! Awful company to deal with...
I used to have insurance with this company AVIVA for 13 years and never had a claim. We have had a couple of travel trailers during our insurance with them. Unfortunately, this year 2018, we had damage to our trailer due to the weather and they would not cover it. Really hard to get someone to return your call. We were trying to get answers for several months. The reason people have insurance is to be covered when they need it. For 13 years we trusted and paid AVIVA but they are not to be trusted. Don't go to AVIVA. Save your money and put it with a company that doesn't have rude staff. The adjusters were rude, not knowledgeable, incompetent and the worst people to deal with. This company is the worst ever.
