Worst insurance company ever!!

by Aami on Jul 31, 2018
1 out of 5 stars

They lack customer service skills and are always trying to put up a fight with the customer. I had a claim experience and it was the worst experience ever. They try to make you look like the bad guy and pay extra fees when I was not at fault. My car took over a month to get fixed when they told me it should take 10 days. Ridiculous!! That's probably why this company has only 1 star. If there was a zero star option, I would gladly give it to them. Aviva insurance should be working with the clients since we are giving money to them, instead, they just want you to be with them but not even help you out. I am never going back to this company and advise you all to go to Belair, Allstate etc.

Don’t use aviva

by Gordon Meurin, QC on Jul 20, 2018
1 out of 5 stars

2 claims in 3 years. First, they use out of province adjusters (if that’s what they are). They were arrogant, refused to even consider black book values of a vehicle, and on the second claim, insisted on depreciating a garage door that had been destroyed, leaving the homeowner out of pocket even though there was no alternative but to replace the door. The ombudsman was similarly uninformed, arrogant and a joke. Don’t use them.

worst insurance company

I very highly discourage anyone from going with Aviva for insurance. They will give you the run around if you ever have a claim regardless if you're at fault or not. I'm 2 weeks into my not-at-fault accident and they won't even start the claim until I speak to an adjuster, yet he won't respond to my 3 voicemails and email and when I talk to another adjuster after being on hold for 52 minutes every time I call, they change their story. I have 2 house policies and a vehicle with them and they are zero help. As soon as this is taken care of, I'm cancelling all policies with them and will never use them again. Be very aware and do your research on companies before jumping into any agreements with any company. All they want is a paycheck with no service.

Did you know that on average Ontario drivers with good driving records pay $1,805/year in auto insurance? Is your insurance rate higher? Get a free car insurance quote and start saving today.

Terrible customer service

by Bad customer service on Jul 9, 2018
1 out of 5 stars

I really do miss RBC, Aviva is a horrible replacement. I wait on hold for over 1.5 hrs and still don't get the help I'm calling for. I have never waited on hold for so long. When I call anywhere else and there is no actual reason why I'm on hold for so long, it's ridiculous and maddening. Definitely need some better customer service reps

Unpleasant experience overall

by Char on Jul 1, 2018
1 out of 5 stars

We called Aviva right away after doing our police report. We were frightened and expected Aviva to be there in our time of need. Our vehicle was hit from our rear by a big steel dump truck. We explained we were not at fault since the dump truck hit us but they refuse to believe us and delayed our process for almost 3 weeks. The adjuster was very rude and was the part of the main reason for the delay. They're very unprofessional, rude, unjust, slow, oppressive and most of all, they don't have any customer service skills. This was the most unpleasant experience and when you think things can't get any worse, it does with this company! They are unreliable.

Customer service agent

by SK on Jun 28, 2018

I recently had my auto insurance claim settled in my favour and was quite satisfied with that. However, I contacted one of the customer service agents to change the auto claim insurance, I was taken aback by his weird way of replying. I was told by the customer agent 'Madame, you have asked the same questions 3-4 times. I have 12 years of experience and have never been asked so many times." Firstly, clearly I did not know, I am not supposed to ask a question more than one time. Secondly, he might have 12 years of experience (by the way why I need to know anyway) but this was my first time making changes to my auto claim. In order to be 100% right in making my change request, I was a little restrained. In so doing I might have asked a question couple of times. I would expect from a customer service agent to explain clearly the changes and how this affects the rate to remove my doubts rather explaining his own professional profile. In the end, if one is not comfortable with explaining to the customer, 1st do not take such job and 2nd rather than reacting to the gently asked questions by the customer and making the latter feel silly, please transfer the call to another agent who might be more competent in his job.

Denial of claim

by Tank93 on Jun 22, 2018
2 out of 5 stars

Had to take them to court to get them to honour their all perils policy. Took 3 years but judgement went against them. They just didn't want to pay the claim, which was under $ 10,000. Employed a lawyer to find every technicality that he could. Must have cost them huge. Their ombudsmen told me that, "...he had been overruled by Corporate." More than 20 years a customer with no claims. The part that bothers me is that they face no consequences for their actions. FSCO is toothless and completely ineffective; a paper tiger without any power.

No fault claim experience

by Paul Van Dyke on Jun 20, 2018
1 out of 5 stars

What’s there to say? If you want good service, purchase anything. If you want good service, good luck. We had a simple no-fault claim where the other driver ran a stop sign and damaged our vehicle. He and his insurance company took full responsibility. Our appointed agent was absolutely non-communicative, uninformed and just ignorant to our claim. I never expected great service but considering the claim was no-fault and the other driver and insurance claimed responsibility the day of the accident, you would think it would be an expedited claim. It wasn’t. Still waiting to finalize. 1 star is too much for my appointed agent. But anyone else we were able to contact were very helpful.

Worst insurance

by Thumper on Jun 20, 2018
1 out of 5 stars

Worst insurance company. Was a client since 1983, no claims. Had a head-on collision, not our fault. The vehicle was deemed totalled. The only thing that they did was a rental vehicle next day. Then 14 days later requested the return of the vehicle. We did not have a replacement vehicle for nearly one month. Two adjusters were useless and the ombudsman dept was a joke. Do not take out your car, house insurance with them. It was a nightmare. This claim cost us about $8000 and we were the victims. Beware of this company!!! Just saying.

If you have a good driving record in AB, you should pay around $110/month (women - $105/month and men - $113/month). Do you overpay? Get an Alberta car insurance quote to start saving.

Customer Service Issue

by ekrlaw on Jun 5, 2018
1 out of 5 stars

I wanted to make a change to my policy, the phone line hold time on the message was over one and a half hours. I waited on hold because I really needed to make the change to my policy. Finally, after an hour and 45 minutes, I hung up and called another insurer, who quoted less than I was paying and whose operators picked up the phone in less than five minutes. Communication is imperative in a service business, I would hate to think what I would have to do to make a claim.
