Not sure why there are these nasty comments here. My son had an accident and my car was declared scrap. My agent ( Roula A.) called me got me a rental right away. I was surprised by the amount of money that they gave me for my car. Once your care is paid you normally have 24 to 48 hours to return the rental, since my wife was in the hospital I had no time to shop for a new car. Therefore I asked Roula if she can extend the rental for an extra day or so and she did. She extended the rental not for one day but a full week. Thank-you very much Roula for you wonderful service, you are my angel :)
My car was written off early summer last year when a deer jumped out in front of my vehicle. Like many people said, they were very quick to get me a rental. However, upon settling on an amount they immediately demanded that I return the rental. This left me with very little time to make a decision about a new vehicle. No one should be rushed in this instance. Being in an accident is jarring enough. It can really derail you. Given a week I could have made a better educated decision about my replacement vehicle. I was really unimpressed with this.
Furthermore, I later found that their rates were so much higher than most other companies. I was paying $232/month. When I removed collision I was only dropped down to $211/month. Any other company I had give me a quote had me well in the $150/month range. It would be one thing if you got more for paying more but this really isn't the instance. My inexperience is what led me to go with Aviva in the first place.
No one I spoke with was ever rude. I suppose they had that going for them. Anyways, this is just a good example of 'buyer beware'. Do your research.
Did you know that on average Ontario drivers with good driving records pay $1,805/year in auto insurance? Is your insurance rate higher? Get a free car insurance quote and start saving today.
I had claim for almost 4 months adjuster not responding or emailing what a nightmare .
I am a 28 year old female who got my g2 license about 3 years ago. Because my family members are insured with Aviva, I got a multi-vehicle discount which made Aviva the cheapest option for me.
The following year, my rate increased by about 10% which they said was due to an introductory discount that you get with them in your first year.
Fine. The year after that, it went up another 13% despite having no accidents or claims. When I called to inquire, they had no explanation.
I found a better rate with Meloche Monnex which has no first year discounts so I know that this is a true base rate. My broker at Aviva tried to talk me out of it by saying that Aviva works through brokers which makes the service more personalized whereas Meloche Monnex works through the corporate office. In my experiences, I have had a much more difficult time contacting Aviva whose brokers seem to have a very lax attitude towards responding to their voicemails. I am put into contact with someone right away when I contact Meloche Monnex.
I am happy with the switch. Beware of rate increases with Aviva.
I had a guy run a red light and hit my truck. He admitted in his police report that he ran the light and hit me. I even had a witness to the accident and gave all her information to the claims representative at Aviva. It has been six months since this accident and my claims adjuster is still trying to figure out who was liable. They never bothered to contact the witness, and never return any of my emails or calls. I'm at a total loss as to what actions I need to take next to see that this gets taken care of. I'm considering seeking legal advice and I'm going to report my situation to consumer reports. If your insured with this company I would change to some one else as soon as possible.
If you have a good driving record in AB, you should pay around $110/month (women - $105/month and men - $113/month). Do you overpay? Get an Alberta car insurance quote to start saving.
I had a claim in July 2014 in which I had to incur expenses beyond the deductible. First of all, the company only has a select few places that you can take your car. It took me 3 weeks to get my car in for an assessment at which time they told me they were booking into the following month. When I finally did get my repairs done, I had to pay the deductible. I called my Aviva broker multiple times, sent emails to both the broker and two other agents at Aviva and never received a reply. I then followed up again with multiple phone calls and emails. I then received a brief, non apologetic email from my broker saying she was reimbursing me for my expenses and that it would be sent to my home address. This was 30 days ago and I have not received anything. Once (if) I ever receive my money, I will be switching auto insurance companies.
On another note, I changed my address a few months prior to this through my broker. I followed up about a month later as I hadn't received my updated insurance cards that I needed to change my registration. The broker said they were behind in their paperwork. It took nearly two months from submitting the address change to receive anything in the mail. I would not recommend this company to anyone.
Made a stolen vehicle claim. The vehicle was recovered in damaged condition. Was told the vehicle would be written off and I could expect the final paperwork to complete before the cheque would be issued. Received a call back two months later indicating that I actually did not have theft coverage on my policy even though this should have been the first thing Aviva looked into when I made the claim. Have had very little communications with them as they are unnaivailable. My claims representative has not been responsive to countless calls where I attempted to move the process along. Am still struggling with the company and their ombudsman won't even respond to emails. Meanwhile my car is still sitting at their auto mechanic shop...
Due to a family emergency we missed a couple of payments. When we called to discuss a payment plan, they agreed to take out double payments two months in a row. When the time came for the money to come out, nothing was taken. We waited thinking perhaps they were back logged and didn't get to it. A couple of weeks later, still the money was not removed. When we called Aviva Insurance to ask them why they did not take out the money, we were told that our insurance was cancelled. Meaning, they agreed to a payment plan only to remove our insurance. They gave us no reason why. Now that we are trying to get insurance back onto our vehicle, we are having a difficult time due to all this. I wish they had at least given us a reason, instead of agreeing to a payment plan and then going ahead and removing our insurance without letting us know.
My wife and i had been drinking so we called 2 taxis. One for the driver to drive us in our car, another to drive the other driver back to his car.
The driver driving our car had an accident. Aviva says WE are responsable!
Liars, dishonest liars. I got a quote directly on their website that satisfied me. But then, when I called to wrap up everything and close the deal, they instead gave me a different final quote that was almost 30% higher, despite doing no change whatsoever to the information given online. Same everything, nothing different, only the quote was and by a landslide. I couldn't believe it and said there had to be a mistake somewhere. The sales agent, then a customer service rep, both couldn't give me a valid reason that explained the difference; only that the online quote was a "general idea", not the real thing. That is plain dishonest practice, a teasing quote that was just so far from what they wanted to charge me.
