Aviva and all of its' affiliates are the worst insurance company by far. It has taken me 4 days to get through to someone to file a claim and when I finally did, they were in no way apologetic to or considerate of their customers. And once I did file the claim, I was told that I have to speak to my broker to get the deductible waived as the damages were in no way my fault. So I call the broker and am put on hold again to be told that "no, we can't help you with that, you have to call the claims department again". So she transfers me to what I thought was the claims department, but it was not. Again I have to be put on hold and explain my situation again. When I give the guy the claim number, he tells me it doesn't exist. So I get transferred and put on hold again. Now I have to give all my information and file another claim. Then I'm told I have to wait 24-48 hours to have an adjuster call me, but there is no guarantee they will call me in that time, could take longer. And even then, I will have to wait for the appraiser. So it has been 5 days now and my car isn't fixed and it may take another week, maybe more, before I can get it repaired, but again, there are no guarantees. After all this, and I'm sure the frustration isn't over, all I can think is that the savings weren't worth it. If I had known it would be this much of a hassle just to file a claim, I would have paid double my policy to another bigger, more reputable insurance company. I am so grateful that I didn't get a home insurance policy with them as well. Do yourself a favour and sign with an insurance company that will actually help you in an emergency and give you what you pay for.
2016 my car was stolen in front of my home and guess what ....? They refused to pay because my credit was bad. That's the proof they had and the only proof. But that was enough for them not to pay me, so I had to go through hell sill: lawyers, lie detectors, interviews, being questioned like a criminal, being accused of theft and then the police called me to tell me my car has been found in a big investigation of car thieves. Believe it or not, they refused to pay the damages to car after that .... so if you have to use Aviva, drive without insurance, you're better off. ..notice all the reviews are 1 star, it's because you can't give them 0
Did you know that on average Ontario drivers with good driving records pay $1,805/year in auto insurance? Is your insurance rate higher? Get a free car insurance quote and start saving today.
I was involved in a car accident in December 2017. My car was towed to a shop that I wanted and I was given a rental car for 20 days while my car was in the shop to be fixed and everything went great without any delay. I would recommend Aviva to my friends and family
Was with RBC insurance before they partnered for Aviva. I have been with them for over 8 years give or take. Called to have my insurance policy switched to driveway coverage after deciding not to fix it since it wouldn't be worth it. My payment went through the day before for service I was not using, so I asked them to backdate it - something that RBC did in the past. They said they would not do it, so I asked to speak to a supervisor. I couldn't believe my ears when they told me it would be a 4-5 week wait to get a call back from a supervisor. I have never heard of such horrendous service. I can understand 4-5 days but more than a month proves this company is incompetent and does not care about its' customers. I then said I wanted to cancel my service and they said it would be a months premium. After 8 plus years with this company, this is the last straw. Just a warning: pls, do not give this company your hard-earned money because they will not take care of you. I speak from experience as I also had an accident a year earlier that was not my fault and they gave me the runaround for 2 months. Come to find out they removed my claim advisor from my account, so no one was looking into it after being told time and time again it was being handled. Just warning, this company is incompetent and they are liars and thieves. Save yourself the headache and frustration. The company needs to be shut down and its board should go to jail.
Disorganized. Overburdened front line staff. No access to management to assist with any issues. Will definitely go with another company after being here for 15 years.
November 2017 I was in an accident, it was a hit and run, I filed the police report and called Aviva to start the claim that went all ok but then it started. First, my adjuster forgot to book an adjuster to come look at the car, then he wouldn't respond to my body shop, so my car was just standing there for a week. Once the appraisal was done, they started the work, my car is a custom painted pearl pink car which Aviva fully knew when they insured me, they even had me send pictures of the car the day my policy went into effect. So as I knew because the colour is custom and half the car needed to be painted that the 2 sides wouldn't match, when I told my adjuster this, he told me it's my issue and go deal with the body shop, great cool thanks for all the help, he fully could have told me to just take it to their preferred shop if he didn't believe me and I would have gladly. My body shop was out of money on this job because they tried their best with the colour which the paint alone is really expensive. Oh, but wait, it didn't end there - a week before I picked up my car, I got a call from the rental company telling me I was responsible for paying for the last 3 days because apparently the amount I'm covered for ran out and my adjuster once again wasn't returning anyone's calls. This didn't end here, yes, I got my car back which now I have to repaint but I also spent Dec, Jan, Feb, Mar on the phone with so many different people that all promised that an adjuster was going to come take a look at the car since it doesn't match and that my original adjuster was going to call back... I'm still waiting. I don't want to seem like a brat but seriously, Aviva knew they were insuring a custom painted car, it was no surprise because it's written right in my ownership: "pink". Bottom line, I had a beautiful car that now is 2 colours.
Tried to ask a question about my insurance, the call centre girl just kept repeating the rehearsed sentences over and over without even trying to understand my question. The way she spoke was like "we don't do this, Right?; we don't do that, Right?" It was apparently their fault for not informing my car leasing company that my car insurance was reinstated after I suspended the coverage for a period of time. I think it's time to switch my insurance.
I’m waiting for more than 2 months now for the refund of my overpayments and letter of experience... Wrote more than 10 emails to my insurance broker and Aviva - No response.
Just as the title says - I was rear-ended twice in two months last year, not at fault. My adjuster kept disappearing, and ended up sending me confidential emails containing personal information of another client! Irresponsible handling of confidential information is a major red flag. I've had to chase them down in order to receive refunds for my child's car seat, which needed to be replaced each time. It's been almost a year since the first accident, and I am still waiting to receive a refund for the deductible I paid (even though it was not my fault, I was rear-ended). I can't express my frustration enough.
It is widely known among healthcare providers, who accept auto insurance, that Aviva is the most bad faith insurer in Ontario. If you have an accident, even if they fail in their aggressive attempts to discredit your need for healthcare service, they will refuse to pay the healthcare invoices. Your healthcare provider will not be able to complete your treatment plan because Aviva refuses to pay. Many Aviva insured car accident victims cannot access treatment because Aviva illegally withholds payment from healthcare providers. After many months of this abuse, we filed with FSCO about Aviva's Unfair and Deceptive Acts and Practices. Let's hope FSCO does its job.
