Horrible Experience

Had my ATV insured through them. Sold the ATV but didn't bother to call as I figured it would just run out at the end of the term and/or they would contact me to discus. About six months later I recieved a call, text, email and letter from a collections company saying I owed them $75. Had that paid same day. Why didn't TD just call, email, text or mail to save us all the headache. Seems like a shady practice. Beware.
Some of the associates I have spoken to over the phone were fantastic, treated with respect and reciprocate the same.
However, they reverse charges without notes or a reason, take payments on the wrong date, input accounts as the wrong account type, wait hours after speaking on the phone to take a payment from your account, and overdue balances cannot be viewed online due to locking out the user after 2 days.
This leaves you unable to view your information online, and forces you to call as it refuses to take a payment online. I bank with the same organization?! Every month it's another headache.
Did you know that on average Ontario drivers with good driving records pay $1,805/year in auto insurance? Is your insurance rate higher? Get a free car insurance quote and start saving today.
So it began when I tried to insure my quad offroad. I already had car insurance with them so my quad had to be separate they said 386$ they said to send so in April I sent 500$ for the quad ..all of a sudden I get a letter that my quad is cancelled in May. I called, and they had put the 500 on my car account and gave me a delinquency for their mistake. I argue to remove the delinquency they won't do it so I cancel my car that month in May, and they give me a second delinquency because they didn't do their job and canceled me when I ask. So then they sent me a bill for owing 645$. I send 800$. A year goes by I get a call from a collection that I owe TD 145$. I call TD and showed my 800$ proof receipt oops OUR mistake again. So they owed me 150$ and they ruined my credit for a couple of months on a mistake they made again. Horrible, horrible service!
They didn't debit my credit card for the monthly premium at the beginning of the month and on the 12th of November when I deposited my paycheck I noticed that they didn't take their monthly payments because that's usually when I settle my credit card. I only use my credit card for the insurance and cell phone plans so there was plenty of money available for them.
So I was driving around with no cover for 12 days... They are unreliable, unprofessional and totally useless when you try to sort things out.
Now they are insinuating that it's all my fault and they had nothing to do with the problem in the first place. They are demanding a full year's payment from me.
Quit honestly I think they are going bankrupt and trying to squeeze money out of people, why else would they do this?
Three calls and three different quotes. Deductible information is unreliable. I promised myself I would find another insurer next year. It is unclear whether there is any accountability for record-keeping. I have had double payments (annually) taken out, and all manner of errors with no apologies for these errors. Just super frustrating and I wish there were more options in Canada.
They change your premium without updating the customer and when we ask them the reason. They tell us that TD sent a mail which I never received. They deduct money from your account without us knowing. Just till scammers. And when we ask for a refund they say one or the other reason and are not willing to give a refund at any cost. So bad service. I would not recommend TD to anyone.
I got a letter in the mail saying my insurance was being cancelled because of 1 missed payment. My bank never once notified me that the money tried coming out and couldn’t, which it does any other time, and I always had the money in my account for my insurance anyways. Ended up calling them and they tell me I missed a payment back in MARCH and I got the letter in the mail a couple of days ago which is now AUGUST. They didn’t let me know about this “missed payment” until 5 months later and they go and cancel my insurance on me and I was driving without insurance for a couple of days not having a clue at all until I got the letter. When I called (the guy on the phone was nice, nothing against him), he claimed since my policy was already canceled, I could pay the money I owe and MAYBE go back to monthly payments (apparently it’s up to the computer system after the fact if I can do that or not) OR pay the money and find out I have to start paying yearly if “that’s what the computer decides.” So to continue with them I’d need over $2000 in my bank account for them to take out for the year and start yearly payments. I don’t have that kind of money at all so I switched insurance companies. I’m paying over $100 less now for this one and they are great so far. Really really stupid setup.
TD Insurance is a dishonest company that will steal your money, as just happened to me.
Recently TD made an unauthorized withdrawal from my bank account, in effect, an extra month’s payment.
After 4 phone calls, one when I was cut off, another when I was promised a call back by a manager, which never happened, I was informed that this was because their computer identified me as being a month behind in my payments. No one could explain how this could be true since I have been insuring my vehicle for 7 years with my monthly payments on automatic withdrawal from my bank account.
I have never missed a payment for both our vehicles and also our house insurance.
In addition, we have never made a claim in the 17 years we have had insurance with TD. Where’s the loyalty? Where’s the respect? My advice, stay clear of this insurance company. Thieves!
If you have a good driving record in AB, you should pay around $110/month (women - $105/month and men - $113/month). Do you overpay? Get an Alberta car insurance quote to start saving.
First, TD debited my bank account for my adult son's new car insurance even after I told TD not to charge my account for his insurance. When I noticed the deductions coming out of my account and I contacted TD, they informed me I needed to fax them, yes fax them a piece of paper with my signature and my son's signature on it to even discuss the matter. After multiple months and conversations, I decided to cancel my insurance with TD and they slapped me with a $250 penalty on my way out the door. As far as I'm concerned, the TD group of companies has no scruples. Beware.

I had been with TD home and Auto insurance for two years. I went on vacation and didn't realize my home insurance payment didn't clear. Instead of contacting me, I get home from vacation with a letter saying I had to pay out $3600 or my home insurance was cancelled. I paid the $3600. Then one month before my insurance was to renew. They took a payment out of my account. My payments before they made me payout were $325, the new payment they took was $390. Not telling me they upped my insurance. They told me I would get a refund, I advised them I didn't need a refund because it bounced as I didn't know they were going to take a payment. I cancelled the policy. They took a payment of 390 out again 4 days later. I then cancelled my home insurance & car insurance. It took 7days to get my refund for my home insurance. Then I needed a premium paid letter, to prove I didn't owe anything to TD. They told me I would not receive the premium paid letter for 10 business days. They refused to email the premium paid letter to the new insurance company or myself. So I can not get insurance for 10 business days. This is why I left this company. You are just a dollar sign or a number to TD, and they do not care about you. I would use TD as last resort. Dealing with TD has been a nightmare!
