Don't ever use td insurance

by Kyle on Jan 1, 2016
1 out of 5 stars

I I had my 2009 cobalt ss stolen from my house I am with td insurance I filed my police report did all the nessasary paper work. I had car rental coverage no problems getting a car rental. I found my own car ditched down the road from my house the next day waited 4 hours for police to show. My car was towed to accodomy towing and put in there yard. Only damage my car had was a driver's side window that's it . The toe company never covered my window it was exposed to rain and snow and ruined the interior and all my electrical components in my car. I waited 2 weeks never heard a thing from td insurance I was not allowed to access my car at the tow yard until the police released it. It took so long I had to call sheriff office myself to get released. My car had more damage then when it was stolen. Finally td insurance contacted me saying a adjuster was looking at my car and it was going to Steele Chevrolet to be fixed. I have till this day 2 months later have not heard anything about my car. I even was put under criminal investigation over stealing my own car I have been paying off for 4 years which went no where because there's nothing to put me in the wrong over my cell phone records and my alibis where I was when my car went missing. I recently had to take my car rental back still with no car of my own and got charged over $500 for the car rental. I believe that this is the worst service that has costed me my job my apartment and my own vehicle that I still have no idea what's going on if it's going to get fixed or there just going to send me another bill after paying full coverage to Td insurance for 4 years. I would recommend to cancel any insurances you have with td insurance and if you have had a car stolen get a lawyer to look after your claim they will just screw your life over because it's hard to have a job with no vehicle and having to waste your own time and money dealing with td insurance. I hope no one goes thru this and that you cancel td insurance and get a company like co-operators insurance that will actually be behind you and take care of you like they should. Td insurance is the worSt insurance company you can have by my experience with them.

Nightmare Claims and staff

by Rob Chinnery on Aug 2, 2014
1 out of 5 stars

I had an accident where an impact (verified by mechanic) caused my rad to leak and engine to burn out. T.D. refused to settle and dragged out the claim for months. Christina (adjuster) talked with me twice. Other staff were rude hard nosed and dishonest. Met with "Keith" an investigator who said a "denied claim will result in facility insurance" and intimidated me. I withdrew my claim and later thought that I would still want to purse it. On being contacted by Keith he simply yelled "fraud fraud" into the phone and insisted on a police report after the fact (no such a thing -there are accident reporting centers that you must report to in 48 hours -I had reported mine directly after the fact to T.D. Do not insure your car there - they apparently do not pay out a lot of claims (I am out 3000 for new engine, repairs to rad travelling and hotel-all supposed to be covered by T.D. P.S. claims dept ONLY calls or not taped-BEWARE.

Dangerous Careless Workmanship

by Madelyne M on Aug 15, 2020
1 out of 5 stars

I used TD Insurance's auto expert shop for my claim in mid-June. It was a simple claim - I had had a bottle smashed through my back window, shattering it and damaging the door as I was driving. First, when I inquired about using my own shop, their representative, misinformed me that the only reason they ever sublet out work is when there is something wrong with the censors or console electronic system on the vehicle. I agree to use their shop, with the promise that the work was guaranteed. They proceeded to put a completely different colour of tinting on the window, AND tore apart my car door, reattaching pieces of the frame with sticky tack and double-sided tape - I wish I was joking. The piece fell off shortly after the work was done, and I came back to them demanding that they reimburse my preferred shop (Honda) to repair the vehicle properly with brand new parts. Their detailing contractor also left a RAZOR BLADE on my back seat, exposed, after removing the incorrect tint. I ended up having to source the correct tint myself, and arrange all the appointments to have the right colour put on. The repairs weren't actually complete until early August. This should have been a 5-day job. My question is, if TD is willing to cut corners like this, what other subpar work are they doing to people's engines and mechanical parts? After all this workmanship and inconvenience to me, they refuse to refund me my full deductible. I will never ever use a TD product again after this experience. In addition, service from my adjuster was slow, not thorough, and unhelpful. Communication was unclear.

avoid Td Insurance at all cost

I bought my first new vehicle in 30 years and unfortunately had an accident 10 weeks later... Electronic emails constantly but not a single person to ever talk to. Hours of wait times on the phone and days without a return call. Then the company goes behind my back and authorizes repairs without calling me. They authorize 39 thousand in repairs on a 48 thousand dollar vehicle, not including mechanical costs and want me to wait 3 months for delayed GM parts plus a month for repair including the replacement of 4 of 6 airbags. This company plans on spending a total of 15 thousand more to repair the vehicle than it would cost to replace new. This company is a complete joke to deal with and forget talking to anyone. Now after 40 years of driving with my first accident claim I understand why they are rated by the public as a total disaster. TD, you don't deserve your one out of 5 stars rating.

Horrible, impersonal service

After an accident, TD insurance was an absolute nightmare. My vehicle sat in the body shop parking lot for nearly two weeks before the body shop itself tracked me down to ask why my car was abandoned in their parking lot, and if I wanted to proceed with a quote for repairs. I had been told by my TD appraiser that it would be fixable, and completed within 9 days, only to get this call informing me there has been no action for more than 10 days from when I spoke to a TD rep. Another 8 days go by, and they inform me they are unable to fix the car. I had to cancel a road trip, and multiple business opportunities because of the rental they authorized me, despite driving a seven-seat vehicle. They told me that this was unfortunate but irrelevant. Their gross negligence cost me thousands of dollars in revenue and time. When I finally did receive an offer for my car, it was approximately half of what I expected. The report they gave me was for cars with similar year and mileage, but clearly, they took the average of the five cheapest, and likely poorly upkept vehicles as their reference. My car was in pristine condition, and I am unable to buy anything even remotely comparable.

Bad experience

Their customer service never replies to your phones. They only fix your car at your centers, not at the dealer. They have a long delay. No update.

You get hit and they run.

I was involved in a hit & run accident resulting in my car being unfit for the road. I called the customer service line and was told that I would not hear back from a claims adjuster until Tuesday of next week (it's Friday morning). I was passed back and forth between four customer services representatives that were very RUDE and unknowledgeable. I was told that I would have to pay a $1000.00 deductible and would not be given a rental car as it was not in my policy. However, I called four days prior to adding accident forgiveness as well as the renal services. TD insurance will not provide a rental car and/or wave the deductible as stated in my policy because the policy did not begin for another 27 days? How does that even work? As soon as my vehicle is repaired, I will be cancelling my policy and going elsewhere.

TD auto insurance

I would highly recommend DO NOT go to shop of TD auto centre. I have had a bad experience with one on the west end of Edmonton. The adjuster is relatively new and made mistake on every step of my claim. The customer service is not as good as compared to other TD standards. Everyone talks the same language, insurance adjuster and autobody shop guys. This way your words are against theirs and that way they are not accountable. Insurance and autobody shop are always in the agreement or, at least, in my case, it seemed like they had already decided from before that once the vehicle is ready we will not fix what is left or missed. It felt like as autobody had no say as they are preferred partner and moreover insurance pretty much dictates what should be done.

Lack of communication

by Jeff on Apr 24, 2018
1 out of 5 stars

I had a minor accident in late January and by the end of April, I’ve revived 1 email stating my claim was being processed a week after my vehicle was already in the body shop. The parts used to repair my one-year-old truck were not factory parts from the manufacturer. Third party aftermarket parts were used and do not match the original build quality. My adjuster also has been absent the entire process and does not respond to email or voice message. Any time I need answers I have to wait on hold for over an hour, explain the entire experience, transfer to another department and repeat. I made the switch from Intact and it was a huge mistake. Stay with Intact if you’re currently with them.

TD claim

by aaron m. on Apr 4, 2018
1 out of 5 stars

I got in a car accident on March 11, 2018. At first, everything seemed to go smoothly with TD insurance; they set up my rental car very efficiently. My car (a base model 2015 Ford Focus SE) was towed to the body shop for an assessment. A couple days later I heard from the body shop. Their preliminary assessment being $10,300. However, they couldn't remove the bumper to look underneath in order to see any further damages as they couldn't get the car up on a hoist because of the significant damage. My Ford had a previous $8600 claim (winter 2016) from a construction truck clipping the roof. During this 2018 claim, TD insurance initially valued my Ford Focus at $13000. Which would make sense if my Focus didn't have any previous claims. Unfortunately, TD insurance doesn't take previous claims into consideration. They only give you market value for your vehicle. The thing is TD, you're not repairing just any Ford Focus, you're repairing mine. This makes you feel like you're being treated like a number in the process line. This is super insulting for a customer as I would like to be treated as an individual, and you should treat each case based on individual information like you do when you raise my insurance premium. Also, this doesn't relate to actual life. If I were to sell/trade in my vehicle, you better believe they would take a previous claim into consideration of the value. My car at best with a previous claim would be worth $9000. So, of course, I asked why it isn't being written off. The agent on the phone looked into my file and flat out told me the reason why it isn't being written off is because I have replacement insurance on it. Umm.. excuse me! So you're telling me because TD Insurance has to pay me out the full value of the vehicle, they're deciding it's not a write-off... And believe me, I get it. It's far more cost-effective to pay out $10,000 instead of paying $21,000. But sorry, if this isn't a service you stand strongly behind, you shouldn't offer it in the first place. This is beyond insulting! I wouldn't have paid extra to have this service added to my policy in the first place if I would have known you wouldn't stand behind it. The agent goes on to tell me that having replacement insurance holds the value of the car at what I bought it for. Again, this doesn't relate to life because as soon as I drive that car off the lot, it depreciates. As I put KM's on it, it depreciates. I asked to see if my adjuster could contact me regarding my concerns. He called me next week on Wednesday, March 21st to tell me that he was submitting the car as a total loss and that he would follow up with me by the end of the week or early next week. 2 weeks have gone by and I haven't had any follow-up. I called TD on April 2nd, I spent 2 hours on hold and never got through. I called again later, spent another hour on hold and again never got through to anyone. April 3rd, I did receive a call from the body shop saying that it will be getting towed away because it's a total loss. So I wanted to get confirmation from TD as their follow-up has been non-existent. I called again April 3rd and spent another hour on hold, never got through. I called again later the same day and finally got through only to hear that it's not a total loss, that now the value of the vehicle went up from $13,000 to $16,000. This is absolutely ridiculous. How did the value of my Focus just jump up $3000? I've been with TD Insurance for almost 10 years and I'm extremely insulted by the lack of care and respect for my concerns I've gotten. That car is only going to be worth $2000-$3000 at best after this repair. A car which I have $15,000 remaining owing on it that's on a lease through Ford which also has gap insurance. So essentially any underside down TD insurance has, Ford will cover the difference. This is a huge disservice to your customer. I've never been so insulted by a company who I've been a loyal customer with for this long. To be treated like a number. Like nothing but a policy number! And have zero customer service follow-up is insulting. I hope that TD insurance does the right thing. Otherwise, I will be taking my business elsewhere. Maybe somewhere I get treated like an individual like everyone deserves to be treated. Sincerely, a very unimpressed customer, Aaron M.
