As if waiting to get his license during COVID wasn’t enough, I’ve been trying to get thru to TD Insurance for 4 days now with wait times being impossible! I stayed on the phone 3 times for over an hour and a half with the most annoying music and no person before I finally hung up. Several more times trying and waiting over 45 mins before hanging out. I tried online to add him to my insurance but still no luck. Incredibly frustrating for both myself and my son who can’t drive after waiting over a year to get his license!
Customer service used to be good. Now I don’t know if I will be able to understand the agent who answers.
Call wait times have increased and the hoops I have to jump through before they will even help me are getting unbearable.
Fix your customer service department! Your rates aren’t that good.
Did you know that on average Ontario drivers with good driving records pay $1,805/year in auto insurance? Is your insurance rate higher? Get a free car insurance quote and start saving today.
I have had to call in 5 times to try and have 4 vehicles properly listed online so I could print pink cards... wait times are over 40 minutes so I can't imagine if I had a claim.
I reversed my parking insurance back to full-coverage 2 weeks early and was charged an extra $565. For 2 weeks?
However, their rates are cheaper than anywhere else I have found
Wait times online are absurd, but when you do finally reach a service agent they are typically very nice and helpful.
They have too few customer service reps. When I finally got through I was told how the charges would go through to which I agreed. They didn't go through as agreed (charged to credit card) and debited my bank account without my permission. Since there was a balance outstanding, because the full amount wasn't debited, I couldn't get access to my account online because there was a balance outstanding? Ridiculous...
Last week I tried to obtain a TD Insurance car quote online about 7 times, each of them ending "we are experiencing issues..., contact us 1-877...) So I called and ended up listening to the hold music for 2h 48m for TD Insurance Call Centre agent. After I got a quote, I was given a case number and was instructed to call back with a VIN number once I have the car. I asked whether there is another number for already existing pre-filled quotes and learnt that no, I would have to call 1-877 again and wait for over 2 hours to get a policy. Today, I spent 3h 56 minutes from 12:03pm to 3:59pm listening sickening music that makes you brain dead, after which the call dropped. As I need to pick up my car today and I do not have another policy, I called back. It has been already 2h 12m as I am on the second bout of sickening hold music, completely drained after the current total 6 h 8 minutes hold. And I don't know how it will go once I reach 4 hours again.
Impossible to contact this company and the online system is a nightmare! Go elsewhere. Imagine having an accident and not being able to contact, imagine buying a new car and you can't contact... it happens all the time! I can't wait till my contract is up I am going to-another company...
I tried calling a few times. Have totally given up after 6 attempts. They should at least give the option to call you back, or tell you the approximate wait times! I’ve been a customer for many years, and I’m thinking of switching because they simply DONT PICK UP THE PHONE!
They don't answer the phone (several times over an hour waiting), the on-line "chat" doesn't connect, and they are not answering questions by email either. Is this TD or some sketchy boiler room operation?
I've been with TD Insurance for over 20 years. This is has been my experience:
1. They only care about new customers; not existing ones. The proof is that when you call, the wait time for the new customer line is typically under 5 minutes and for existing customers, it is at least 1 hour (if you are lucky). The trick is to select "new customer" when calling as they will still help existing customers when you select that option to skip the ridiculous wait times.
2. This past year, they raised my premium by 40%! I had no claims, no tickets and had the same car as the year before. When I called to inquire, they claimed it was because of "my area". That would mean that nearly everyone would have had to be in an accident with that type of increase! Even more unlikely during Covid. I contacted a broker and she found multiple carriers offering insurance at around 40%-50% less than what TD was offering.
