Poor service

by George on Jun 5, 2021
1 out of 5 stars

Very long wait time when I called (45min). It was repeated several times. Unexplained and unjustified raises in premium. The rate is going up, as your car is getting older and less valuable. I haven't received any checks during the pandemic, although my car was seldom used.
High rates going constantly up, even if, I had no claim.
I would not recommend TD Insurance to any car and/or homeowners. Very poor service.

Avoid like a plague

by Ola on Apr 7, 2021

This is a deeply flawed and incompetent insurance. It is all about bumping up the premium at the slightest opportunity. The adjusters are all in the game. Don't let big name fool you. Any other insurance is light year better. I don't understand how a 100% fault judged by the police and at fault driver's insurance against the reckless driver would suddenly changed to 50/50 by TD insurance overnight. Awarding a 50% at fault against me for nothing is a very clear case of pure injustice for profit at all cost. Worse still didn't get to know until about a year renewal date and outrageous premium. My advice? Look else where if you want to keep your sanity. They will make you pay. My dealings with them comes to an end and will never recommend this bunch of incompetent people parading themselves as professionals.

Communication and product

Very very bad communication. If you want to reach a TD agent you can wait up to several hours. They keep on increasing high rate for car insurance every year, not worth and do not recommend TD .

Auto Insurance renewal

by Agnes, Wasaga Beach on Mar 31, 2021
1 out of 5 stars

I was shocked by the $400+ increase in the renewal. The effective date was mid March, but TD programmed my PAP to start in Feb. I called to stop the PAP to start in Feb because I want to consider cancelling the auto insurance with TD. I was told that if I cancel it before effective date in mid March, a full refund will be made. I did cancel the renewal and I received a notice saying that it will take them 30 business days from the Notice date to do the refund. In addition to the call experience, I called so many times and follow-up so many times and each time you wait on someone to answer you call.

Hiked prices

Shocked by the cost of our renewal in 2020. Shopped around and paying 100 less per month with another insurer even with monthly program cost.

Happy to leave TD. Tried to get a hold of them by phone earlier last year and on hold for over 4 hours and no one answered. Covid is not an excuse (as the recording kept saying) when every other company can answer in a timely way.

Unreliable and Poor Service

by DanieQ on Mar 12, 2021
1 out of 5 stars

After my one and only minor claimable collision, which cost the insurance company about $3,500, they jacked my premiums by more than 30% every year following the claim. During the claims process, the phone wait times were in excess of 1 hour to speak to a claims adjuster. In addition, the claims adjuster gave the wrong information to the collision centre that was fixing my vehicle.
I paid more in insurance in the years following than the cost of the collision.
I finally got fed up when they jacked my premiums again in 2021, and phoned to cancel the renewal. I phoned 37 days in advance of the renewal, at which point the agent told me that they would not debit my bank account for the renewed policy. 6 days later, they debited my account for the new policy.
I phoned again, and was told that they would refund the money in 30 days. Yes, folks, that's "30" days that they will be holding my insurance premium.
How's that for service? Stay away from this company.

TD Assurance Incompetence

by Rick_W on Jan 24, 2021
1 out of 5 stars

And I thought my TD Assurance story was over. In November I had given TD Assurance explicit written directions that they were not to renew my policy automatically and that I wanted a quote at the termination of the current policy so I could make a decision.
Last Wednesday although my policy was completely paid for TD attempted to put another payment through my bank account. Fortunately, there wasn't enough money in that particular account and the payment bounced. The bank (not TD) did charge me an NSF fee which they subsequently gave me back once I explained to them what had happened. Then on Friday, I got a notice from TD Assurance that they had auto-renewed my policy at a rate that was double what I had negotiated with the new company for exactly the same terms as my original policy.
WARNING - DO NOT GIVE TD ASSURANCE YOUR BANKING INFORMATION. SHOP AROUND FOR INSURANCE RATES. TD Assurance rates are usury.

Worst Experience Ever

by Satpreet on Dec 21, 2020

Terminated my policy without notifying me. Later I find out they did it as they were not able to process payments on my card because my bank noticed some FRAUD transaction and cancelled the card. Received no phone, text or email regarding missing payments for four months. When I acted it was already too late. I offered to make any outstanding payment in full and requested to reinstate insurance.
Instead of helping out their customer, they flagged my account with non-payment' which is now impacting me every time I go to any insurance company. They did it purposely so that I go back to them, and take insurance at a revised rate which is 120 per month higher than what I was paying before. Another weirdest thing, I paid off everything I owed, they're not even ready to issue a letter note saying I do not OWE anything. I don't know how to defend my rights in this situation 'when they have full access to flag/destroy my record with whatever they want.

Service and value nonexistent

by 20 year customer won't be renewing on Dec 1, 2020
1 out of 5 stars

Something is wrong with this company. It's like they don't want to be in the insurance business anymore. I've been with them for over 20 years and will be moving all my business elsewhere.

Waited over an hour on the phone just to renew my home insurance in October. Will be finding someone else next year.

After they raised my auto-renewal premiums by 20% for no reason (20+ years accident-free), I shopped around and found another broker that was 60% less expensive. When trying to call them to let them know I won't be renewing, the phone system indicated a 1 to 2-hour wait just to talk to a rep.

If you have a good driving record in AB, you should pay around $110/month (women - $105/month and men - $113/month). Do you overpay? Get an Alberta car insurance quote to start saving.

TD Insurance

TD Insurance is just a huge scam, PLEASE FINISH READING MY REAL PERSONAL STORY AS A NEW CUSTOMER, IT WILL 100% HELP YOU CHOOSE TO GO WITH THEM OR NOT. The only difference between it and a black shop on the street is they are bigger and have a longer wait time for you to get fed up and bare with the scam by force. Ever since I opened an account with TD Insurance as a customer, which I joined with my wife who has existing accounts with a car and home, I have to call three times and wait for 1.5hours each time to let their supervisor apply my deserved discounts that should be applied without calling, then after getting a mere 15% discount, then my wife begin to get letters from them every single month, simply with the title 'Change on your premiums' without telling us any details whatsoever in the letters, her premium before I even joined was around $1800, then after we called it applied a discount to $1500, we thought it finally over, then out of nowhere, she got the following letter a second month in notifying her new annual premium changed to little over $2000 all the sudden without us doing anything! Or being told by anything! What their customer service tells you or? I ended up losing more than what they promised to discount for. I'm regretting so much to switch from to TD.
